One of my favorite local businesses just opened a storefront on Rangeline and 126th! While I originally met them at the Carmel Farmers Market years ago, they've exploded in growth and I'm so happy to have a storefront shop just in time for the holidays. Hot sauce stocking stuffers, anyone?! I eat popcorn every night, so when I discovered that they had a popcorn seasoning, I was sold. The seasoning has paprika, salt, pepper and a few other spices that stick to the light oil on the popcorn and make for the BEST snack. I also put it on avocado toast and also use it as a rub for any kind of meat. Most recently, I got one of their hot sauces to try (there's one that is SUPER hot and one that is more flavorful than spicy). "Where is this place?" I looked at the directions that led me to an inconspicuous storefront exactly across the street from Matt the Millers in the one story strip mall near the roundabout. When arriving, I saw Amazing Hazel's van parked in the parking lot so I knew I was close. Upon walking in I was greeted by Dave, the owner and creator of Amazing Hazel product line. He was attentive and sweet allowing me the time to fully understand the heart and soul that went into each of his product offerings. He offers 3 different hot sauces, one to be a wing sauce in the future, 2 Bloody Mary Mixes, a spice mix and the legendary Chili Sauce. I walked out with the Chili Sauce and the Zesty Bloody Mary Mix. The Chili sauce is the name sake and reason why Amazing Hazel exists. Hazel was his grandmother and he stumbled upon her recipe after his mother died. Upon making the sauce, each bite was a reminder of tastes from his childhood. The Chili sauce is a slightly sweet tomato, green pepper sauce with chunks of fresh onion, peppers and onions. In your mouth it has a start of a sweet taste but finishes with a little heat. (Admittedly, I am a spicy person and did not find it too spicy). Chili sauce can be used as a base for sloppy joes, a topper for burgers, added to spaghetti marina for zing etc. I plan on trying it with sloppy joes myself. The Zesty Bloody Mary Mix is a thicker cousin to the original Bloody Mary Mix. There is not horseradish nor Worcestershire in either these mixes. Zesty Bloody Mary Mix has a tomato based mix with onions, green peppers, jalapeños, citrus notes and GINGER. For me, it will be served over ice, with Tito's vodka, celery and a crispy fried bacon piece (add blue cheese stuffed olives for the hubby). What I love most, is that the spicy can be made spicer with horseradish or wasabi, or it's fine for those with a milder pallet to have standing on its on. The ginger adds a layer of flavor that no other mixers offer at this time! Lastly, there are great gift box options for that tough to buy person. Amazing Hazel will customize and make suggestions to make your gift stand out. I could see these being great gifts for welcome baskets for weddings/showers/or best of Hamilton county bag. Got to meet the owner, Dave, and he was extremely nice and had samples to try of all of his products. My top two favorites have to be the Chili Sauce which I believe is why he started this company and then the Zesty Bloody Mary Mix. I can't wait to try the chili sauce with sloppy Joe's, but honestly would be happy enough just eating it with chips! I am in love with this little company. I went for a Yelp event and left a devoted customer. I've never had a Bloody Mary and always wanted one. They sold me on their drink after I tasted it. I bought both kinds the regular zesty mix and the thick & chunky. I also bought some seasoning to rim my drinks. I plan to go back for some other items like the chili sauce. Amazing Hazel's is a hidden gem tucked in Carmel. This sweet little gift shop is filled with tantalizing spicy goodies that is bound to make any spice lover's eyes and mouth water. While the store is an unassuming location, this unexpected treasure trove is chuck full of beautiful wrapped chili sauce, popcorn spice and variety of other novelties. The greatest gem in the store though may be the store's owners, Kate and Dave. While tasting some of the Hazel's amazing chili sauce, Dave walked me through the history of the business and how it came from the store's namesake, Dave's grandma. I cannot recommend Amazing Hazel's enough. Their Bloody Mary mix and chili sauce are both amazing!! I personally prefer the zesty sauce, but the thick & spicy option was delicious too. I stopped in for a Yelp event, but purchased some items separately because they tasted so good! They will make great gifts! There is no large sign out front, so look for the Thai Castle sign and they are directly to the right of them if you're looking at the building. What a great spot and perfect time for the holidays! I was greeted by a friendly man as soon as I entered and was surprised to see a very well organized and nice pop up shop! He let me taste some of the hot sauces, chili sauce and some wing sauce he's working on. It was all very good and just a bit different than other things I've had with a ton of flavor! I ended up walking out with both hot sauces, chili starter jar, a serving stone and some coasters. The seasoning blend is AMAZING. I have been experimenting with different uses for it but so far my favorite use has been a shrimp dish. I've also tried it on chicken and in an omelet and a few other things - all delicious! On top of that, the owner is such a great guy and you can tell that he appreciates his customers and wants them to be satisfied. He offers samples of things before you buy so that you won't be disappointed or surprised with what you're buying. I have been a Bloody Mary fan for a long time so when I tried the Amazing Hazel's Bloody Mary mix, I was a bit skeptical at first. How would this compare to my go to mixes? For starters, it has nothing but clean, fresh ingredients like red and green peppers, onions, tomatoes, garlic, jalapeños, lemon, lime, and the best part, GINGER! Ginger is one of my favorite spices but who would have thought to put Ginger in a Bloody Mary?! Well, it works! So good! After trying the Bloody Mary Mix I decided to try their Chili Sauce to make a healthy version of a Sloppy Joe stuffed sweet potato. I loved this cute little shop! I went in for a Yelp Elite event but ended up purchasing some Bloody Mary mix & their amazing seasoning shaker! The owners were so knowledgeable and you could clearly see their passion for the products they've made. There were plenty of options when it comes to gifts for the holiday season - like gift boxes with a selection of their products or even an all hot sauce box for those that love a kick of flavor! I had the pleasure of trying Amazing Hazels at this years Indiana Artisan event. They were sampling their bloody Mary mix and their chili sauce, and let me just say, "Amazing" is an appropriate name. The chili sauce is delicious, and great for things like hot dogs or tacos, or as a base for soup. Same with the bloody Mary mix. I'm on the search for the perfect mix, and this one comes close. It has spice but nothing I couldn't handle. They have like an 8oz size of it too, perfect size to enjoy a couple bloody Mary's for breakfast without committing yourself to 3-4 days of having a drink just because you don't want to waste your mix.
