Grateful for the little kids section (ship) with crayons and paper- nice touch!
    Brittany S.

We had a lovely first visit here this past weekend to pick out a variety of spices using a generous gift card we received. The visit was long overdue and I'm surprised it took us so long to visit the spot just a few doors down from Trader Joe's. We appreciated that they had a little kids section that included coloring pages and crayons for the kids. Otherwise, this can feel like a hard experience to pull off with little kids in tow. We perused and smelled a variety of spices before making our final selections. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and eager to help. Here are some of the items we ended up purchasing: Dutch Cocoa, hot chocolate, Mexican vanilla, Herbes de Provence and Ethiopian spice mix. Overall, a great spot if you are looking for specific spices, stocking stuffers, or a gift for a friend who enjoys all things food.

Penzey's is a great, probably the best, source for Spices. It is definitely advantageous to get on their mailing list as they frequently have promos and freebies. I purchased a couple of Hug Blankets which are quite nice for gifts within the last couple of months. I placed my order for the blankets online and picked them up at the store the next day. I received an email last week reminding me of a promo for a free 1/2 spice of my choice and an Embrace Love pin - FREE - no purchase necessary. I selected Vietnamese Cinnamon. I believe they had about five different types of Cinnamons to choose from with a great description of each to assist in choosing the perfect one. The regular price was $9.49. I got it and the pin completely free! They have excellent customer service and a very extensive selection - the quality is top notch too!

If you are into spices as much as me and my family you will love this place. They have all the spices you could think of from A-Z. The store is very well laid out so it doesn't feel overwhelming (thats a thing for me, I hate disorganized stores), and the staff is helpful but doesn't hound you. They have various sizes for the different spices so for some I get smaller but for things I use often I tend to use the larger sizes. Another thing I like is they often have specials where if you spend a certain dollar amount you can get something for a very reduced price or even free. When I went in this week if you spend $10 you got a free large spice of your choice! That was very unexpected and I was thrilled.

Love Penney's! The spices are just better than what you get at the grocery store. The staff is always friendly and helpful The store often has samples out to taste so you know what you are getting. During the COVID shutdown I was able to order and pay but phone and pick up my spices at an arranged time, no contact no fuss. The roasted garlic powder has become something we don't live without! There garam masala blend makes a terrific Tika Masala too.

I didn't originally visit K-Kitchen to get Spam musubi, though. I've recently been obsessed with kimbap. I've eaten it for dinner two days in a row! I saw that K-Kitchen has grab-and-go kimbap, so I moseyed over to grab three rolls (and that musubi) for my family's dinner. My kids didn't really care for the kimbap, even after telling them it was a lot like sushi, which they love. But who cares what they thought: I loved the kimbap! I got two beef kimbap and gimbap, which was crab and egg. My favorite was beef, though -- it's marinated, and with that and the pickled vegetables all wrapped in rice and nori, it was delicious. I don't know if you're supposed to, but I popped my rolls in the microwave for a few seconds, just to take the cold edge off. In my opinion, kimbap tastes better at room temperature. K-Kitchen also sells jars of kimchi, Korean noodles, soybean stew and lots of other dishes. It's located inside Saraga International Grocery.

If you know, you know. If you don't... let me put you on…read more Turf Kitchen is one of those blink-and-you-miss-it spots that has absolutely no business being as good as it is! First off, don't walk in expecting a big menu. You're getting about five sandwiches, and that's it. Turkey club, spicy turkey club, Cubano, the "Peter Dick," and the short rib sandwich. A couple sides, chips included, and that's the whole operation. Simple menu. Serious execution. I went with the short rib sandwich, and I'll be honest...when it came out, I had a moment. For $16, it looks like the smallest sandwich on the board. You start doing that internal math like, "Did I just spend $20 on lunch and still need a snack after this?" Yeah...no. Every bite was packed! The tender, flavorful braised beef was clearly the star of the show. The cajun crema brought a rich, slightly smoky depth, the pickled jalapeños added just the right amount of tang and balanced heat; not overwhelming, just enhancing...and the cheese tied everything together without competing with the beef. That brioche bun? Soft, toasted, and doing just enough to hold everything together without getting in the way. And the chips...honestly perfect for what they're supposed to do: add texture without distracting from the sandwich. (Next time I might throw them on the sandwich... for research purposes.) Washed it down with a Mexican Coke, because...they had Mexican Coke! ‍ Now let's talk about the vibe. Nirvana playing. Grateful Dead stickers everywhere. Chalkboard menu. It feels like a Gen X dive spot... until you taste the food and realize the guys in the kitchen know exactly what they're doing. That's the magic of this place. This isn't just a good sandwich spot, it's the kind of place that reminds you why local food hits different. I'll be back. Next time, it's the spicy turkey club.

I seen on instagram that today they would be having chicken wings so of course I wanted to place an order. I placed my order online. It said it would be about 25 minutes for my order to be ready. When I arrived to the store the owner had greeted me and I told him I was there for a pickup order and gave him my name. He had offered me a drink which I declined since I was just heading home. Matt is the owner he was nice and explained the menu and what all he does. They offer catering along with just cooking different items he puts on the menu each week. There was very limited seating inside there but you could sit inside the place if you wanted to. When I ate my wings they had just the right amount of seasoning and sauce on it. The wings were very flavorful. I was not disappointed with my order. I did wish they had fries so I could add some to my order but they were currently out. The prices were your typical prices for a small business. If you have never been to this place you should check it out. I know from the outside it looks a little deceiving but don't let the outside fool you.

They sell just about everything imaginable for Japanese cooking, including sashimi grade fish. I also saw Japanese beers and liquors. Meals made to order start at 11:00 am. They make sushi, noodle and rice dishes. We picked up several bento style boxes to share. There are a number of cafe tables inside and outside to eat after you purchase your food. We ate inside. There is a convenient microwave to warm-up prepackaged cold foods. The gyoza were filled with pork and bits of cabbage. The gyoza disappeared quickly. Emi ten Tomagoto ji pre (shrimp tempura over rice) was our favorite dish. The rice was cooked with eggs and onion and just delicious. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. I would definitely order this again. The spicy bomb inari was filled with strips of meat and a spicy sauce. The only complain was that the wrapper was soggy from sitting in the deli case.
