the inside of a grocery store

Great selection, very clean store, and staff is super friendly! There is plenty of parking out front and on the side of the building. I appreciate that this location has two sets of carts, not just one section. They have a ton of holiday surprises at this location right now. You should definitely check it out for some fun treats to get into the holiday spirit!

Please order more meat on weekends

This is a pretty typical Aldi by setup, with the same mix of products as usual. The store has an interesting clientele, with Africans and Latinos making up majority, with Indians, Hipsters, Afr-American making up the rest. Very busy weekends, and staff unable to keep all sections full. Look, if you have a big African clientele you know they splurge on meat on weekends--why not order more and keep it stocked? Overall efficient, quick lines, but no effort at friendliness from staff.

    Advent wine calendar

So, I went to Aldi in the afternoon on Friday November 8th mainly for the advent wine calendar that's so popular. I'm a regular at that location, and I just love shopping at Aldi so many great items. Well, their popularity of the advent calendars this year they had the beer, wine, cheese, chocolates, and also there are advent calendars for the kids too. On, November 7th that night I went up there to buy a few things, and making sure they have the advent wine calendar which they still had a few during that time. I remember the Manager telling me they sold out of the beer calendar very fast on November 6th. The Wine calendar weren't cheap at all I spent $70 on it, and it's basically 1 glass serving of the wines, 24 wines comes in it. I could always get my eggs there less than $1, the almond milk is affordable, but to me it's tastes weird. Aldi, does have a lot of limited edition items once it's gone it's gone. I remember when they offered the Porto wines back in March very popular. Just like their Mimosas they this summer. Also, each Aldi is very different from prices to items. Their chocolates with caramel is so delicious. You still need a quarter for their carts, bring your own bags, or purchase their bags for .10. Overall, Aldi is an affordable grocery store that has something for everyone.

Aldi has definitely stepped their game up. They had an entire fresh foo section and it was quite impressive. I always look at the bananas (yes, I sang the Gwen Stefani song to spell this) to determine how fresh the fruits are and here they were bright green. They had all the things you'd need to make a great salad (baby carrots, onions, green peppers, etc) and true to the Aldi brand they were reasonably priced. What also is new was the wine section. I did not expect to see that, but they had wines in there from $5.99 to $15.99. I must say I was surprised not to see a Moscato since it is a nice and relatively inexpensive wine, but it was just nice to see they are expanding. Things to know: 1. You still need a quarter to retrieve a cart. 2. You will still bag your own groceries. 3. The rest of the selections appeared to be from the original version of Aldi.

This is the Aldi on Lafayette.

Supposedly, it serves four but this is what the platter looks like after three very hungry adults ate our fill. The platter also comes with four bowls of weirdly delicious soup made with beans and....I think, hotdogs. Sounds horrible and I normally would push the bowl out of sight but then I tried a bite. It was great. We split the meat platter leftovers and I will have food for every meal for the next 3-4 days. Then the staff found out it was my birthday and brought out a huge tray of sopaillas drizzled with chocolate syrup, chocolate sprinkles, sugar, and whipped cream. Oh my. I forgot to take a photo of the meat platter before we chowed down on it and didn't have time to take a photo of the dessert because.....well, because it was too amazing looking to wait for a photo!

They have a case with grab and go premade sandwiches and salads that are reasonably priced and super healthy. The salad was delicious with the only downside that I had to purchase dressing separately. My husband had a vegan wrap that was filled with lots of veggies and bean sprouts. He said it was delicious. The smoothies looked amazing, but I'll wait till next visit. There are tables inside and outside where you can sit and eat. The clerks are welcoming, friendly and efficient.

Now, I've been to Georgetown Market numerous times in the past. Georgetown Market supplies all natural, organic, and vegan products. You can get your food, natural meds, teas like mullein. Etc. When, I went this morning it wasn't crowded at the Cafe, you can dine in at the Cafe, and I ordered a smoothie called Mocha Chiquita that has banana, almond milk, cold brew, peanut butter, chocolate plant protein, and cinnamon. Now, I was actually recommended that smoothie especially for the protein. That was my first time ever having a smoothie at the Georgetown Market & in general. The ambiance of the place clean, smells very healthy, the staff are always very friendly and helpful. To, my surprise the smoothie was actually good to me. Mind, you I can't eat bananas by itself due the smell makes me gag, and I haven't ate a banana in many years. I would highly recommend the Mocha Chiquita smoothie. Then, around 3:30 in the afternoon I went back up to Georgetown Market Cafe for the Vegan mac and cheese, to me that was just okay. Then, I ordered a ginger shot which was good, that ginger burned slightly. However, I love Georgetown Market & the Cafe so I'll definitely be back.

I've stopped in the parking lot previously and been confused by the various restaurant names and Value City Furniture on the end of the building. There is a small entrance west of the restaurants that leads to a hair salon, a restaurant, and a grocery store. The grocery store is not elaborate and reminds me of the discount stores of the 1980s where you could collect boxes to use for your purchases since they didn't supply bags. Everything is a bit rudimentary and not everything seems to be priced. I bought a number of the little Maggi Lemon Chili noodles for $3.00 and I'm not sure whether that was a good price these days or not. I haven't had them since I moved from Florida in 2008, and that place charged $0.33 each. They have a number of new and used DVDs and also a variety of CDs, cookware, and daily supplies. Also, they had the ready-to-heat products from Gits and MTR, which are good for people like me who weren't born Indian. The owner/clerk was ready to assist.
