    Chicken Marsala
    Kyle E.

We were in town for an event and needed to feed 25+ people. We called the Old Spaghetti Factory and they were able to split us into three groups and accommodated everyone! It's been a while since I've been here but the place doesn't age! They still have a trolley car for dining, huge wooden tables and high back chairs. We had to wait about 10 minutes but the place was packed and we didn't mind waiting. We had a huge table in the center of the restaurant. Our server was great and worked with our three separate checks and kids orders. Our family ordered the chicken marsala, chicken piccata, garlic shrimp fettuccine Alfredo, and kids fettuccine Alfredo with a side of chicken. I love the OSF because meals come with hot bread, salad, and ice cream at the end! The food didn't disappoint either - everything tasted fresh and delicious. Don't skip the mizuthra cheese and browned butter pasta. We enjoyed dinner and will keep in mind for the future!

Struggle salad... can I get a tomato or a cucumber and not dry brown salad?

The place needs to sold to a company that wants to take advantage of the beauty of the restaurant and the location. Any place that will sing happy birthday is probably not where I want to be anyway but it was lunch... Paper menus on placemats ugh... struggle salad and a sorry excuse for a chicken piccata. I hate to complain but you can see for yourself. I asked for Cabernet and got a mojito... ok mistakes can happen but they also forgot my son's broccoli! Overall.... Ugh!

We waited at the hostess stand for over 15 minutes waiting for a hostess to seat us. We were seated, the waitress we had was busy catering to a larger party. To make a long story short, she was preoccupied and said she didn't hear me say I wanted the Garlic Mazithra. Hubby ordered the Meat Lover's Treat; it was all leftover meats that were very dark and not fresh. She didn't hear my order so my hubby ate alone!!!!! A terrible dining experience. This place used to be very good..............

Made a mini stop in Indy on the way back home to Chicago and everyone was getting hangry. Mommy was craving pasta and Lo and behold The Old Spaghetti Factory came up in my search. Upon entering the restaurant you feel a sense of nostalgia like you are being transported back in time. The decor gave a soothing old school feel like you were about to eat a great dinner with family. We were greeted right away and only waited about 10 minutes to be seated on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and it came with a side of salad and complimentary warm bread. The salad was a nice little starter and the ranch dressing was really good. The fettuccine alfredo was like a nice hug after a busy weekend. It was a good sized portion that was creamy and delightful. The dessert at the end was a nice surprise as it was a bowl of ice cream, which the kids loved. I missed coming here! Even though this was my first time at the Indy location, I've been to the St Louis location a couple times and I always remember it too being a great experience and great food. Nice to know there's also one in Indy.

I have not been to the Old Spaghetti Factory in probably 10 years. I ended up going with some friends at 8:30 on a Friday and it was not packed and we were sat right away even though we had a reservation. Our server was fantastic and always kept our drinks filled and even ran all around the find red pepper flakes because there were none upstairs. None on to the food. The bread was fresh from the oven. I got the caesar salad and they give you a large portion. It was good but too much dressing to my liking. For the entree I got the chicken parm although it tasted good the patty almost reminded me just a freezer patty you through in the oven. Then finishing with the ice cream all for about $20 an entree gets the job done. Also if you need to go to the bathroom you are hiking to the basement. It's a nothing crazy type of joint but if you want a 3 course for cheap it's good.

My husband works downtown and has seen this place many times. I decided to make reservations so we could check it out. We were sat upstairs just off the bar. The decor was older looking but cute. Our server came over to get our drink orders. In the book on the table, they have drinks and appetizers listed. Unfortunately, the book at our table was not updated as it listed drinks they no longer made/have. My husband ordered a mule and I ordered an expresso martini. We had some bread & butter brought to the table. The bread was hard and crusty, difficult to cut with the dull knife provided. My husband ordered a Caesars salad and I ordered the minestrone soup. Our server was either having a bad night or was just oblivious because the soup and salad was delivered to the table and we did not have any silverware. Our food sat in front of us for probably 8-10 minutes before the server came back to check on us. Shortly after our food showed up. I had to mushroom ravioli and my husband had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. My food was just ok, the mushroom filling had a weird chemical taste to it. We did not take any leftovers home. Overall experience was just ok and to be honest, we will never come back here.

    Chicken piccata via DoorDash

This review is just for delivery, via DoorDash. I'm staying close by for work this week and I saw The Old Spaghetti Factory and was then craving pasta. I looked on their delivery page on DoorDash and saw they had chicken piccata, which is one of my favorites, so I ordered that. It apparently comes with fresh bread--the bread was warm when I received it--a salad (and I believe soup was maybe an option), the entree, and a small half-scoop, it seemed, of ice cream. There was no butter given for the bread so I only had a bite of it. The Caesar salad was delicious, there was an upcharge but it was totally worth it. The chicken piccata itself was decent, not the best I've had and not very lemony but fine, but the side pasta was fabulous. I think I saw on their DD page that they use some sort of different cheese on top of it and it was very, very good. I chose spumoni ice cream for my dessert and that was also good, albeit very small. On DoorDash this was $28 so I assume it would be cheaper at the restaurant, not a bad price for what is essentially a 3 course meal. I think it was $25 or $24 before I upgraded to the Caesar salad, as well. Based on this meal alone I would come back to dine here or get delivery again, as everything was delicious

Pretty standard old spaghetti factory this one was a little bit smaller than we're used to, but still have the same vibe. We went on a Thursday night with our two kids standard fair reasonably priced decent food. You see the next to a volleyball team so the server was working hard for all the tables, but she still managed to do a good job.

Love that with the manager's special you can get two halves of an entree: I did the spaghetti with rich meat sauce and mizithra. The mizithra is incredible. Never had spumoni before but absolutely loved it. Salad and bread were just okay. For the price, I wish the pasta was higher quality, but the four-course meal makes up for it. Things to know: it was quite chilly inside on a winter evening: bring a layer. It was also quite busy on a Friday night and we were sat 15 minutes after our reservation time (good to know if you're on a tight schedule like us) but the service and food came out quick so it all worked out. You should get a reservation for a weekend night since they had an hour and a half wait for walk ups!

I had SUCH an incredible experience here!! It is where nostalgia meets quality!! It takes you back to childhood!! From bendy straws to a scoop of icecream after the entree, this place has care in every detail!! My server Vera was SO lovely!! The hostess sat me at such a beautiful and caring place in the restaurant, and I enjoyed my experience so, so much!!

Not a lot of Italian options in Indianapolis so we stopped in here. We were told the wait was two hours and while looking at going somewhere else, we're seated in 5 min. Overall pretty basic options. Nic that it is all three course type meal but ends up being sooo much food. Love the rail car seating inside!

While visiting Indianapolis we couldn't resist stopping by for dinner at one of favorite places. We've visited many of their locations in the PNW and have always had a great experience. We had the best view that evening. It was Halloween weekend in town and we were able to people watch, everyone had very cool costumes. Our waitress was super fun, very sweet and welcoming. She was super attentive; was nice talking to her about our visit and about other old spaghetti factory locations. I the spinach and cheese ravioli, it was delicious. My daughter enjoyed her spaghetti as well as the cesar salad. We also enjoyed complimentary ice cream which was a bonus. Had delicious food, wonderful service and a great experience.

Brings back old memories. We used to eat at one in Nashville TN in the early 90s as a kid. Cool to see they still have some open. Cool place to come.

    Is there gluten free?

I think there were gluten free options on the menu. I'm just not sure about the spaghetti

Online it says there are no reservations available for this weekend. Can I just walk in to this restaurant and be able to be seated shortly?

When we go we never make reservations but we go early. There might be a longer wait during prime times.

    Do they have lunch specials?

NO, currently NOT SERVING LUNCH MENU ONLY EVENING MENU but still open during lunch hours. Hopefully, lunch menu will return but at this time no idea when. Reason is due to Covid-19 supplier issues.

    Is there handicap parking nearby?

There is one handicap parking meter out front, just pass the main entrance.

    Do they take reservations?

Yes! You can either make a reservation online, through there website, or call them directly.

    Definitely not

The entrees (the monkfish special and the carbonara) were good but not great. I did appreciate the crispy, smoky pancetta in the carbonara but the monkfish had a somewhat mushy texture rather than the he firmness we would normally expect. The biggest issue, though, was the check. The calamari never came off, the meatballs for the children's pasta were more expensive than what was on the menu, and we were charged for an extra calamari dipping sauce that we did not ask for. Most of these problems were fixed but the whole thing illustrated a lack of attention to detail and an appearance of up-charging the customer in any way possible. The flavors melted together in a creamy tomato sauce with the perfect amount of spice. It was genuinely the best sauce for a seafood pasta and the shrimp and noodles were both cooked properly and to perfection. Nothing was overcooked. Every bite was like heaven. I tried my friend's pastas as well and the Tortellacci was suprisingly so tasty. The amount of lemon they add in the sauce pairs so nicely with the cheeses they used. The service was friendly and was knowledgeable especially with their drinks. We came during happy hour and the options for a spritz were a lot for this newbie, but our waitress was kind and informative. We started with a half order of summer caprese, which was stock full of strawberries and watermelon. The nuts were old, and there wasn't much of a lemon vinaigrette and balsamic drizzle leaving the salad kind of tasteless. There were three kinds of oysters available and they were exactly as described. They tasted fresh and presented well. Unfortunately the mussels we ordered were the opposite of the oysters. It had an unpleasant odor, the mussels were rubbery, and there was not much flavor in the chili broth with butter and beer. It appears these were overcooked. As for the Bolognese, the fettuccine was cooked perfectly, however the sauce was lacking depth and attributes of a slow-cooked, simmered sauce made with wine, mirepoix, and some quality tomatoes. While the staff here are attentive and friendly, the food left a lot to be desired. The drinks were a highlight, and the bread a good start, but the entree's need more attention.
