This restaurant is a gem in downtown Albany. I booked the Flint for my 20th class reunion dinner and we were definitely treated like kings and queens. The food was exceptional. The service was even better. The owners and executive chef all came in to talk to us and greet us. Mr. Singfield gave us the history of the room we were in and told us all the links to Albany History. Truly grateful for this fine dining establishment in my hometown. read more

I very rarely find the time to make Yelp posts, but I believe this place is more than deserving. To be totally transparent, I ate here on a Monday evening around 830pm and sat at the bar, so I did not have any service issues as it was pretty slow at the time. I saw some people who were speaking to their experiences compared to Atlanta restaurants. I figured I would approach this review as someone who lives in metro Atlanta and is only visiting Albany for one night. I saw a review that this place has Atlanta prices? Nope, maybe if you are considering Texas Roadhouses around Atlanta or something of the like. I would expect to pay somewhere in the range of 40-60% more in Atlanta for a one off dining experience of similar quality and ambience in a non chain establishment. I have traveled extensively around the U.S. and can genuinely say that I feel Albany and surrounding areas are lucky to have an option like this. I had the lamb chops (fabulous, maybe the best I've ever had), asparagus (good), side salad (good) and gator appetizer (very good). read more

Came for the reviews. We were in town and this one of the higher restaurants on Yelp. Food overall is a 8/10. Service 6/10. Prices aren't the cheapest around $20-$30 per dinner. For two people it ended up costing us $75 which to me seems high for what we got. Sever also wasn't clear on number of sides which added to our bill due to miscommunication. read more

The music and decorations provide a very welcoming environment, and everything we ate was like the perfect comfort food pairing for the ambiance. Both my girlfriend and I loved our entrees. I guess the bar staff is the crux of the problem at The Flint, but it extends to the table staff. It should not take 55 minutes from ordering for a draft beer to .. never .. arrive. The table staff coming by every 5 minutes to ask, "have your beers arrived yet? oh I'm so sorry!" when there are no drinks visible on the table is further confusing. I've been to the flint on three different occasions. I absolutely love Albany fish company so I thought the service would be about the same at this restaurant. Every single time the service is super slow and the servers do not treat all patrons equally. I've been to 5+ star restaurants, and they are busting through the roof with customers and service are top-notch. In order for this company to flourish the service must improve! The food is very delicious and ambiance is excellent.However, I am always disappointed by the servers. The server always seemed to be in a rush when dealing with us and even took 15 mins to bring a straw. I hope this company takes this review and makes improvements. On 3 different occasions I have received disappointing service. I don't like to throw the race card in there but I am a young aftican American professional and I love fine dining but I don't feel valued as a customer at this establishment. read more

I have never had a more horrible experience here in Albany. I have been to the Albany Seafood Company several times as I've visited Albany and the service at this new location and the attitude of the staff when I brought to their attention that we had never even seen our waiter/waitress, we never even received water after 10 minutes of waiting. As we were leaving I stated to a gentleman (blue collared shirt outside) that they needed to work on there customer service (he was the reason we stopped in) he proceeds to tell me "We don't discriminate." and that people who were given water must have already had a reservation. That was the furthest thought from my mind, he then tells me that he doesn't like that I "insinuated" they discriminated against me. I will always support small owned businesses, however I will not give my money to anyone that cannot take a typical complaint on service, and then accuse me of playing the discrimination card as a black female disabled veteran. I don't play games in this day in age with such a serious subject matter, I am deeply offended and unfortunately will not support either of these businesses any longer. I do wish them blessings on the new business just be more cordial to whom ever walks through your doors and address every complaint seriously. read more

Being new I know they have to weed out the bad staff, but we had the worst waitress tonight! Didn't smile, didn't try to interact with us, nothing. Our appetizers and salads came after the meal arrived with no apology. I've never seen such service. She gave us bread with butter but no utensils to spread the butter, then we finally got our meals and they were cold! I was so hungry I didn't care but we did send the others back, and they came back luke warm. It really ruined the whole evening. We will try it again but it will take a while. read more

I visited the Flint with a co-worker during a business trip. Very satisfied with the courteous and knowledgeable staff. Chef G offered us a sample of a new dish he was working on. The menu is small ,however, it gives them the opportunity to concentrate on the things they are doing correctly! I had the fried grouper and my co-worker had the oxtails. The restaurant was clean and the staff looked sharp. When in Albany again, I will be sure to try more dishes at the Flint. I have eaten here for the last time. Over the last three years I have tried to enjoy a meal at this establishment, but after a handful of poor experiences, I'm done. Last time I was here I had an allergic reaction to one of the dishes, which was contaminated with shellfish. I am recalling the other bad experiences I have had at the Flint. The food is consistently disappointing, always inundated with salt, and incorrectly cooked. The last time I was here I sent back my steak which was supposed to be medium rare. It came out of the kitchen like a charcoal brick. The owner came to ask me what the trouble was. He refused to replace the order stating if I ordered a forty dollar steak, I had to pay for it. It was inedible. The costumer is always wrong here, I guess. I will let my friends and family know this place is a disaster of a restaurant. Stay away. read more

This is best steak in town. The ribeye is phenomenal, no need for any steak sauce because it's cooked to perfection (medium). I also enjoyed the lamb, however the portion size is a bit small so get the heavier appetizers if you're a big eater. Also they have a full bar with top shelf liquor. read more

Stopped here to give a new Albany restaurant a try. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich with a side of mac and Cheese. The chock keen was large and seasoned just righr. The Mac and cheese was ms are from scratch and with lots of cheese. Very good! My wife ordered a burger which was presented very well. It was just a little under cooked (to her liking) sent it back and the server returned with a whole new burgrr and bun. Again presented perfectly. I was SO super excited to go eat here and my expectations were high! I deeply regret that! From walking in to sitting down, the vibe and friendly service was completely off. We waited 15 minutes for a server to ask us what we wanted to drink. I wanted water and my friend wanted Crown with sprite. They brought my water in about 10 minutes, and said his drink would be done any minute and didn't even ask him if he wanted water with this alcohol. So 10 minutes later he finally got his drink. We were ready to order, but our waitress didn't ask us that and left us sitting their with our drinks. I was so desperately hungry, especially considering I'm pregnant. So we waited about 20-25 minutes trying to get out servers attention that we were ready to order. She finally comes and takes our order. I got lamb chops with cornbread dressing and broccoli with cheese. My friend got smoked chicken, greens and Mac and cheese. We got our food in about 30 minutes. Within in this time, servers dropped 3 dishes around the building. This place definitely needs some new servers! Finally got our food, and she didn't know who's food was which or who's side were who's. It was very weird because everything was on a separate plate. I was so excited for the food because I thought it would be so good! NOPE! Driest lamb I've ever had, the dressing was soggy and sweet, which I couldn't even eat it. And there's no way to mess up broccoli... SO, my friends food... his chicken was SO black and dry, he couldn't even eat it, his Mac was mediocre and and his greens had no flavor. We had to sit staring at our food for 10 minutes because we had NO salt and pepper or stale knives! He didn't even eat his food and I ate my lamb and broccoli. My water was empty the whole time I ate my dinner. Let's just say... this is the worst dining out experience I've EVER had. then after finishing our meal, we waited another 30 minutes trying to flag down our server to get our ticket! I definitely recommend they get some new servers in there and make sure their cook isn't burning the food! our server didn't smile at us ONE TIME!!! She was very rude and NEVER checked on us!
