Went on a rainy Friday night round 6. Quite a few people already here, but not quite a full house. Over the next hour and a half, this place got packed. The interior is nice for date night or drinks with friends. It's versatile in there. Our server:Taylor, was super cool, and attentive. The owner comes out and speaks to everyone, saying: "hey how's everyone doing tonight, I appreciate y'all coming in!" He does this to every table. That alone makes this one of the few places here in Albany with outstanding customer service. We had the brown sugar glazed salmon over rice, grits, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, hush puppies, and Wasabi Tuna The salmon was a bit dry, and a little small: not worth $33, I believe it was. The rice tasted like the boil in a bag minute rice. Mashed potatoes, grits, and Tuna were all pretty good. The Brussels sprouts were delish and so were the hush puppies! Overall the food was decent enough, but nothing fancy for the price. I'm sure there are other items on the menu worth the cost. I came into town for work and arrived right around dinner time. I opened Yelp and looked for anything rated 4 stars or above nearby, and this spot came up. A quick glance at the menu showed crab claws, and that sold me immediately -- I love crab claws. When I arrived, the place was packed. I was told there'd be a 20-30 minute wait, which surprised me for Albany, GA. The host explained it was half-off oyster night, so I figured I'd hit the jackpot -- oysters and crab claws? Perfect. Unfortunately, the excitement faded a bit from there. They didn't offer chargrilled oysters, only baked with parmesan or raw. I went with a dozen baked oysters and an appetizer of crab claws. The crab claws came out first. They were small to medium in size and tasted fine overall -- nothing bad, just smaller than I expected for the price. Then the oysters arrived, and they were very small, smaller than my thumbnail, with no seasoning other than the cheese. Not impressive. I ordered another dozen hoping the first batch was a fluke, but the second dozen was even smaller. On the positive side, the staff was very friendly, and service was great. I have eaten here twice in the last month. Both experiences have been good. It is pricey, but you expect that going in. Took my bride tonight and we started with the crab cakes as an appetizer. There were only two small cakes but what they lacked in size they made up for in taste. They were excellent and the jalapeño relish was perfect with them. I had the crab cakes stuffed grouper and my wife had the blackened grouper. Both were cooked well and were very good. The chipotle grits are a winner and my wife loved her grit cake. The honey butter brussel sprouts are a must. They are wonderful and almost have a buttered popcorn hint of flavor. The house salad with citrus vinaigrette is also good. The 1st mistake we made was to sit at the bar. The cute bartenders really aren't interested in dinner guest. Service was mediocre, at best. The oysters were great. The seared tuna was great and the sautéed vegetables & Brussel sprouts were delicious. We ordered a square grouper stuffed with crab that came 1/2 hour after we finished the meal. I'm so disappointed in my meal this afternoon. My only wish for my 52nd birthday was to eat dinner here. The waitress was excellent! We started with appetizers: crab claws fried, salmon bites and fried green tomatoes. The crab claws were spoiled and smelled horrible. The other 2 appetizers were EXCELLENT! My daughter had the fried shrimp with fries that were piping hot and she really enjoyed. My husband had the snapper with cold mashed potatoes but the grit cake was enjoyable while the fish was over salty. I had the pecan crusted sea bass with cold grits and cold sweet potato soufflé. The fish was lukewarm and not crusted but had candied pecans on top. My bill was over $180 with tip. I love great food and do not mind paying top dollar for it. We are locals to this restaurant and love it. Our number one date night spot. They have great food options, tasty drinks from the bar and overall great low light ambiance. The service is always really good as well. Two unique menu items worth trying are the brussels sprouts and blueberry cake. read more

I know pickings in Albany are slim but this place needs improvement. Crab cakes are too salty and small. Fried green tomatoes were flavorless and oily. Lobster egg roll didn't work. The Gouda grits were horrendous. The texture was like gloopy wallpaper paste. The sweet potato soufflé was awful - weird texture and bland. Without the candied pecans it wouldn't be edible. The crab stuffed grouper and ahi tuna were pretty good though. And the honey butter Brussels sprouts were nice. read more

This was a busy evening but I received friendly service from the hostess and the waitress. I had the shrimp dinner - I tried poached and grilled combo. Both were very flavorful. The poached brought out the flavor of the fresh shrimp which paired well with the spicy cocktail sauce. Was traveling from out of town and a local recommended the harvest moon. They were crowded so I came to the Catch. Looked up the menu while I was on the parking lot. Ordered the crab cakes and a pizza. Crab cakes were very small. Menu said jalapeño relish but there was nothing jalapeño about the relish. Just corn and remoulade sauce. Online they were $13. On my bill they were $18. A Bar patron told me they had another menu so bartender passed me a harvest moon menu. I waited 45 minutes for a small pizza brought out in a large to go box on a pizza pan. Used the pizza pan as a plate. Didn't ask for it to go but it came in a box. I felt awkward eating out of a box at a restaurant with white paper on the tables. Pizza was $13 on the menu but was $15 on the bill. Inquired and bartender adjusted. There was also a $1.95 charge on the bill. I called back and inquired to the manager Brian. He was very polite but offered an excuse for every concern that I had. I told him if next door charges $1.95 for food to be brought over then let the customer know. How was I to know you charge to go next door and get food. He also said the prices on the website were the same as in the restaurant. Not true! Of course locals may know that but you should never assume a customer knows. So basically I was overcharged $10. I called the manager before leaving a review but felt like he just waited for me to pause between issues in order to offer an excuse. Pizza was good but had to try hard to cut crust with a knife. Other guests food looked amazing. Not all guests are engaged the same way either. I would probably recommend with caution if you're not a regular. read more

Without a doubt, The Catch is my favorite restaurant in Albany. Oysters were delicious baked and raw. Lobster egg rolls were tasty but I didn't taste or see any lobster meat in it at all. The lobster should have been the star of this dish, disappointing. The Calamari Rings are one of my favorite appetizers. They're crispy with just the right amount of saltiness and the dipping sauce is delicious. Grit cakes with shrimp, grouper, and scallops in a cream sauce with spinach and mushrooms were great. All the seafood was cooked perfectly. The seared ahi was not as fresh as I'm used to having. The texture was off because it was previously frozen. The blueberry cake is the best dessert on the menu. It's super moist and the icing is so creamy. I wish I had the recipe. The service here is always on point. read more

We were pleasantly surprised at the open, stylish clean interior and taste of our entrees. We had the charbroiled oysters which were nicely seasoned.
