This place has perfected the art of customer service which I truly appreciate. My daughter had a beautiful time here. The owners did so much to accommodate us during this special day. Atmosphere is nice, BUT customer service and food was horrible and management got upset when we made our complaint about our food being cold and the fact that you trying to serve oxtails on your menu and they were old because there no way to cook oxtails to order. Owner and son are very RUDE and Unprofessional! Trying to support black owned businesses!! This is one I do not support nor recommend. Steaks are cooked in A1 sauce. This review follows my first visit at The Flint with my family. Our waiter was not very responsive; it took him several minutes more than usual for us to receive bread and water service, although the restaurant was not very busy. Even more, our waiter had to be reminded to refill our drinks, which went empty several times. The bread was tasty but very chewy like plastic and very hard to cut. The chef should consider changing the bread to a softer selection! The food was good tasting, but the portions were very "small pockets," as my mother put it, compared to other full-service restaurants that we've patronized. (I ordered lamb chops, broccoli, and mac and cheese. This meal was very pricey, but came in small portions.) We didn't bother to order dessert because of the small portions. Lastly, the restaurant was very noisy with live music, making it hard for me to hear my family during dinner. This live music should be decreased in volume or eliminated all together. In all, I don't recommend The Flint and I don't plan on returning. read more

Simply ghetto ,WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!! We were served old food that was reheated . If you do not like your food the owner will argue you down even though the customer is ALWAYS RIGHT. Tonight I saw the owner of The Flint put out a pregnant girl because she did not like her entree and simply wanted to swap it for something else. He argued in front of the WHOLE restaurant... very UNPROFESSIONAL. The server took a hour on the drinks and most of us got water. Overall would not recommend especially for a big party. I'm in the Food & Beverage Business so I know what to look for when I go out to other places. I and three other coworkers went on our night off, ready for some good food. We were NOT disappointed, it was amazing. My ribeye was cooked perfectly, seasoned beautifully and so tender, you could cut it was a spoon. My two side orders, macaroni & cheese and the cornbread dressing tasted freshly homemade. In town visiting my parents and my mom brought me to this gem of a restaurant. From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was welcoming and customer-centric. The beautiful hostesses quickly sat us and answered our questions about HH (which is M-Th only). My mom ordered the Flint Paradise cocktail, which she loved, and I ordered wine. While the special sounded delicious, I had my stomach set on the Flint Burger and my mom ordered the Mussels & Chorizo red sauce pasta. The food was phenomenal!! The Flint Burger is a carnivore's dream - patty made from combo of venison, bison, and wagyu beef - and it was seriously the BEST burger I've ever eaten. I am salivating thinking about it now. It was a gracious size and comes with your choice of a side. The mussels and chorizo pasta was absolutely delicious as well, as Chef G uses his mom's special recipe. The experience was elevated by live music from a talented guy singing Frank Sinatra and other vibey tunes. Beautiful establishment. But the meal left quite a bit to be desired. I ordered take-out as I was headed to a hotel. But I was hungry. I ordered the mozzarella sticks and open them as soon as I got in the car. Despite being very dark brown, almost on the edge of burnt, the sticks were completely solid and room temp on the inside. The 1 I ate was almost empty, telling me they were over-fried and the cheese leaked out. Despite waiting 30 min for a to-go order (this I don't mind as it is a restaurant) , I received inedible food. When I got to the chicken sandwich, it was dry and had obviously been reheated. It was cut into strips, and one could tell it was originally destined to be on a salad. The "steamed" broccoli was steamed but floating in butter! All the time I sat waiting at the bar, I watched the bartender drink a beer, and I assume the manager sitting at the bar having a glass of wine. She actually got up and rang something in the POS system. There were only 2 other tables seated at the 6 pm, guess this should have been an indication of the problem. read more

I was super excited to come have dinner for a work outing. Hostess was nice and welcoming. However, there genuinely was not one good aspect of the entire dining experience besides this nice welcome. No plates were given for complimentary bread. No napkins or anything for waters. The server introduced himself but was absent for 15 or so minutes until he just came to the table and asked if we were ready. No offer for drink or appetizers. Many at the table did however ask to order drinks. The knowledge of bar stock was minimal. Salads that were ordered came out before the drinks, 15-20 minutes after initial order was put in. A few people were still missing drinks, including myself. I ordered a beer on tap. Our main course came out, three people still without drinks, including myself. The server had to call out every single item of food, rather than having places for each person. Every single side dish had to be called out as well. Steak knives were requested. Five minutes later, the server said they had no steak knives because none were clean. Absolutely crazy. Food was very bland, presentation just simply wasn't there. I had the stuffed flounder with Mac & cheese and creamed spinach. Mac and cheese was the best of the bunch by far. A few people had to kindly ask that their meat be recooked to the temperature they requested. My beer finally came when I was done with my meal. A colleague had to just kindly ask to cancel their drink. The server offered no apology or any sense of urgency throughout this entire experience. Once we were done, there was no mention of dessert or another round of drinks. After this experience, especially with these higher than average price points, seeing the already added 22% gratuity was wild. This server seemed to have known that he would be receiving a 22% tip and genuinely put next to no effort in every single step of service. Mind you, this was on a seemingly very slow time of the evening. The fact that all of these things happened during a slow time is very disappointing. This place seems to really want to be a fine dining restaurant but just doesn't understand how to actually execute it. Downtown Albany needs a beacon for restaurants and businesses to follow and this just isn't it. Hopefully, they will hire some experts to come in and revamp things. read more

The location and atmosphere inside the restaurant is exceptional however, the food has a good ways to go. The sides were overcooked and tasteless with very few green vegetables to choose from. The steamed broccoli was dry and tough and definitely not fresh as advertised. They know their fish and the stuffed flounder is the best thing on the menu. The lamb sauce was bitter when a mint or fig sauce is expected. Steaks were too done and thin. The service was excellent except for the hostess who was not cordial to the point of being rude. My visit to this place was beyond horrible. I've read the reviews and I've noticed a pattern with who gets treated with respect. First of all, It was not my decision to visit this place. My sister had a birthday dinner there and we tried to make it nice for her. I called 48 hours ahead of time to reserve seating for her and told the gentleman over the phone that I had " decorations" to put up. Nothing big and out of order. His response was ok come 1 hour ahead of time and set it up. (Train your people on how to respond to special request) When my mother and I arrived to the restaurant with our cake and balloons; the owner approached us in a rude and condescending way telling us balloons wasn't allowed. This is something that should have been told to us before arriving. My mother had already warned that the food was not very good and to have the owner treat PAYING customers with so much disrespect was beyond me. We were seated and the waiter didn't come check on us until the entire party had arrived(in which the owner told me half of my people was not gonna show up) We wanted to order water and appetizers for the entire table but could not because she disappeared. I've heard from different patrons in Albany that his behavior is " his personality". I don't know what he's thinking but in order to have a successful business ; you need to learn CUSTOMER SERVICE. A basic concept!!!!. The food tasted bad and was cold. Over cooked and under seasoned. The drinks were bottom shelf liquor disguised as top shelf. (I know the difference). After being treated with such distain and disrespect, I refused to spend any money in that place. My brother in law paid the bill for the entire party and it was beyond over priced. The atmosphere is the only thing this restaurant has going for them, and maybe the bread. My friends and I came to check it out and someone ordered a steak it was cooked in A1 sauce. It was used as seasoning, and was over cooked. My sister in law ordered lamb chops and they were also seasoned in A1 sauce, so it didn't taste like lamb. My burger was so salty and over cooked I couldn't eat it, and the French fries were soggy. My husband ordered the cheapest thing on the menu- a chicken sandwich, which was $12 and didn't live up to a fast food chain sandwich. Our work had a Christmas party here and it was ok. There were 2 other parties going on so service was a tad slow but not bad considering everything. My main complaint would be the food. I ordered the ribeye ($28) and it was FLAT. Most places in the area have a ribeye for $20ish and you get a nice fat ribeye. This one has the thickness of a Wendy's hamburger patty. It tasted really good but what happened to the rest of my steak?!?!? I ordered steamed broccoli and it had no flavor at all, no salt, no seasoning, nothing. My wife got the bison burger. Now it was a good size but again, no flavor. Cooked perfectly but no salt, no garlic, nothing. On the opposite end we got the wings as an appetizer and the flavor was too much. They are smoked and then fried which in theory sounds great but the flavors clashed real bad and they were kinda dry. Staff was really friendly, place was clean, and I really liked the flavor of my steak. I just wish they would get the other stuff fixed. Until then, I can not recommend considering the pricing. You are much better off going to The Station in Americus or Austin's on Westover. I will try the Flint again in the future and if things change I will update my review. read more

Owner was also very rude and made unnecessary remarks towards myself and other individuals that were dining with me. My coworkers and I were in town for work purposes. We were a total of seven (7) and from the time we walked in, it felt like home. Place is tastefully decorated and looks magical at night. I speak for all of us and must mention that we were all pleasantly surprised by the ambience, customer service, attention to detail but most importantly, the food! We had a variety of appetizers and entree's from the evening menu and it was all outstanding. I personally recommend the "pork belly BLT". One of the best sandwiches I've had in a restaurant in a long time. The service was terrible. It took forever to get our food. Also the bartender took way too long to make our drinks. One of our orders was an Old Fashion, the Server came back 30 minutes later and said we don't have Moscow Mule's. We did not order a Moscow mule, so we then ordered a long island iced tea. That drink also was messed up it look like the bartender got some food coloring and put ice in it and poured a drink. I said that the long island ice tea licked water down. After a while the owner came over and he was very rude to the person that ordered the Long Island Ice-T. I feel like the owner Mr. Glenn needs to learn some customer service skills. And the sad thing is we were here from out of state; California and Maryland. We had heard such good things about the restaurant so we decided to give it a try. Worst dining experience ever.We ordered a Long Island iced tea, but I do not know what that was that they brought us. So we canceled the order for the drinks. However the ribeye was delicious, but the baked potato in the broccoli were tepid. Then on top of the bad service they had the nerve to add a 22% gratuity onto the bill.
