I chose this one actually because of the decor. I know that sounds cheesy but first impressions for me are the outside and the lobby of the hotel. This hotel is ultra modern in my opinion. The lobby has a nice mix of sofas, chairs and tables and chairs. Along with cafe tables and stools. They have a Bistro and a little store in the lobby. Loved it. There is another side where there is a large screen tv, fireplace and more sofas. All modern. The desk attendant checked me in with no issues very quickly. I was given my key cards and went to my room. Upon entering the room there was a smell. I don't know why hotels have that smell but you already know what I mean. I immediately turned on the heat because it as chilly and the smell went away. I don't think its necessarily the room itself but the air conditioning system. Their was a desk, tv, a sofa chaise, coffee table, refrigerator in the room. This room had an actual closet with another comforter, iron, ironing board and luggage rack inside with mirrors. The bathroom was nice and big and everything seemed brand new including the flooring. The bed was heaven. I wish I could have stayed longer. I took one star off for the smell of the room but would definitely book a room here again as long as it is less than the $130 I paid for one night. It was a tad expensive for Albany GA.

As a Bonvoy member, I expected at least basic courtesy, but they denied my late checkout without explanation. The customer service was rude and dismissive, and it was clear they had no interest in helping guests. Thankfully, I only had to stay one night. The carpet in my room was worn and the lighting was on the dim side. The water for the shower was also not very hot and the water pressure was quite low. I would say if you are budget conscious, this is an ok choice. You get a decently comfortable bed and free breakfast. A good hotel for a quick one night stay. I just hope they take some time to renovate for a better experience in the future.

The front desk ladies were not only beautiful but incredibly friendly--always welcoming and positive, which really stood out. A few of them even helped us find some great fishing spots! Most afternoons they would have koolaid in the lobby. Breakfast was what you'd expect from a Holiday Inn Express--consistently clean, fresh, and well-stocked.. The kitchen staff made a point to greet us and ask how we were doing each morning, which we really appreciated. Housekeeping did a great job, and the hotel overall always felt clean, safe, and well cared for. We truly enjoyed our stay thanks to the friendly atmosphere and excellent service. The last time I was there was a little over a year ago, but I took some pictures and took the time to really look around. They have so many engaging things for children to do. The planetarium is really unique in the area. They have trains in the back and even have large models inside the trains for children to look at (at their eye level too!). They have different exhibits at different times, but there is generally always something interesting and educational here. I remember there being exhibits related to dinosaurs, electricity, and old newspaper clippings all over the place with interesting stories about Albany's history. Definitely worth giving a once over if you're only visiting Albany.
