One of the best places to eat in town. We have had multiple sandwiches there, to include pork, Philly cheese, and club. All were decent portions and delicious. It was very surprising to see a city its size in a Southern state like Albany not have many BBQ choices. I am always hesitant for BBQ joints that do BBQ and catfish. I always believe those places don't do either amazingly. But a guy I met on the golf course said I needed to try Riverfront. He knew what he was talking about. Many Yelp reviews praised the brisket. That's what I wanted. I also wanted to sample the other meats. But Riverfront does not put brisket in their combo plates. FAIL! But the brisket was really good as it was what you want in a brisket: juicy, moist, and a tasty rub. The 4 sauces didn't really mix well with brisket though. The vinegar sauce was too runny for brisket to soak on and the brisket came sliced. The sweet sauce was kind of weak. The mustard was ok. The only sauce I thought was really good and flavorful was the hot mustard. Potato salad was tater-ific! It is the baked potato salad with sour cream and chives which I love. The mac and cheese was pretty good but not memorable. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! Overall, Riverfront is a solid BBQ joint. The brisket and potato salad were standouts with the sauces needing a little more flavor to lift Riverfront to the next level. It would also be nice if they can figure out how to include brisket in a combo plate. read more

I'm so disappointed by choosing this place. It had a lot of mixed reviews so I decided to give it a try. Some employees were not wearing their masks properly. As soon as you walk in the door, everyone yells sit wherever you like. We picked a booth near the salad bar, looked pretty good but we didn't try it. We ordered chili cheese fries, which were very tasty (possibly the highlight of our experience) however, they did not sit very well. We also ordered a BBQ pulled pork sandwich (very dry, bland and no BBQ mixed into the pork) with onion rings (soggy), the brisket dinner with Mac and cheese and coleslaw (brisket was bland, dry and very little smoke ring/flavor). The slaw and Mac and Cheese were ok. Several BBQ sauces were available at the table, although I didn't find any of them to be tasty enough to pour on my food. Our server was nice, but she seemed to be a bit tired. Our check was brought to us without being asked if we wanted to order anything else and my beer was removed from the table before I had a chance to even finish it. I went with the chicken and pulled pork combo plate, including two sides. This is listed in the Dinner section of the menu and rightly so. You get a lot of food - maybe too much for lunch. Half a chicken, a heap of pork, two largish servings of sides (mine were collards and cole slaw), corn bread and Texas toast. - chicken was just OK. A little undercooked for my taste but that's not uncommon in BBQ joints. - pulled pork is better, if perhaps a little bland. I added plenty of BBQ sauce here. - collards are properly cooked to death. I like their version. - cole slaw is basic, maybe could use a kick of some sort. - corn bread is awesome, maybe the best I've had recently. - I don't eat the Texas toast. It's too filling and there's too much other food on the plate. - Several types of sauce on the table. I didn't find one I liked by itself but the combination of hot and sweet was good. First i want to start by saying i was so excited to try Riverfront BBQ and i hate to leave bad reviews but i have to be completely honest. I have to say my excitement rapidly faded as the meal went on. I really wanted to try this place because they had southern bbq and a salad bar! I thought to myself what could be better. Man was i mistaken. Firstly the service was terrible. I sat at a booth and directly behind me was the waitress station with the computers where they put orders in. This waitress stood behind me and put my orders in the computer as i said them. Never stood in front of me, never made eye contact nothing. Moving on to the meal. Although the plating was very appealing the food was just terrible. I ordered the bbq combo plate which came with smoked chicken, pulled pork and 2 sides, i also got the salad bar included too. I ordered my meal and walked up to the salad bar to prepare my salad, and honestly the salad bar was the best part of this whole meal and saved this from being a 1 star review. By time I returned to my table with my salad my entree was there waiting for me. Is the food cooked fresh if its ready within 3 minutes of ordering ? One could never know but the food definitely did not taste fresh. The smoked chicken was incredibly bland and dry and the skin was like a thick piece of rubber around the chicken. Terrible. The pulled pork was super dry and flavorless. As my sides i got green beans and collards. The green beans were straight out of a can and boiled. No seasoning nothing. The collards were soo flavorless and overcooked it was like a green mush. The corn bread was incredibly dry as well. Like i said the best part of this meal was the salad bar which isn't saying much. It's a half-BBQ joint with paper napkin silverware and awful, unimaginative sauces. I just got my chili cheese fries and it looks like someone took frozen, bagged store fries and threw canned hormel chili and yellow melted cheese on it. They have raw oysters as a special. Me & my wife was returning home from a week of camping. We haven't had any Georgia BBQ all week. So we stumbled across this Gem. Always a good sign when you see people standing out the door waiting for a seat. It was on a Friday evening around 6:00. I had the half rack of Ribs man were they tender, juicy and the flavor was excellent! All the vegetables were great! My wife had the pulled pork. It's the first time That I can remember where she eat the whole sandwich in one sitting. They only have Pepsi products and I didn't try the tea. So that is the reason for 4 stars! Went there recently on a Friday evening with my family. I was disappointed in the live "music". The guy sang way off key and kept his Amp way too loud with entirely too much treble. Several tables complained about the volume being just too loud and when an employee turned it down, he turned it back up louder than before. I am not against live music (if it's on key) - just keep it down to a reasonable level. We have ordered the Catfish several times and it has always been great. Lately we have ordered BBQ pork and Brunswick stew. The BBQ is great, cooked over wood in the back.
