This was a fun stop on our drive from Auburn to Florida. We got sandwiches and delicious polish sausages for a quick lunch, then went back in for some great jams and snacks. I would drive another 5 hours for the toffee peanuts and Georgia peach preserves alone! I only wish they had a couple of more tables outside as we grabbed and cleaned the only outdoor place to eat with our dog. There is also a gas station here, so a a really convenient pit stop. read more

I'm a sausage nut. My wife and I stopped in SL (salt lick) sausage company for gas. I walked in and saw all the meats and sausage. I asked about breakfast sausage and the butcher said it all was breakfast sausage! I wanted the hot. He told me the jalapeno-cheese was good, hot but not too hot. I opted for a link of fresh hot. He then threw in a piece of the j-p for me to try. When we got home, I fried a piece of each. I admit we liked the j-p better but both were outstanding. The seasoning was just like I remember from homemade when I was growing up. The grind was fine with no grissle and just the right amount of fat and lean. I'm considering buying some on line until we pass by there again. Want to try some of their steaks too! read more
