Just happened on this place by accident. We thought we were going to another restaurant we been too along the way but it turned out to be the wrong place. Glad we happened on this place I can say it was well worth getting list for. The food was excellent and great views. Now I have this one saved for the next time we are driving through. Perhaps I cannot give a proper review because I chose not to actually eat here this evening. I'll be honest, it's been almost five or six years since I've been here last. I understand that they're all you can eat business model as pelican point was probably not very sustainable. However, the menu items that pelican point offer were almost all either steamed or broiled. It'd be hard pressed to find any fried food other than your typical hush puppies, etc. Unfortunately, the new menu offers almost exclusively fried foods. Some of the items can certainly be made broiled or blackend. I just don't feel like I'm going to be getting anywhere close to the same bang for my buck as I did previously. The current menu reflects what I can easily get within 10 minutes from home, so no real need to travel 45 minutes to Eulonia any more. Is the quality worth the drive? That'll be up for somebody else to decide. The ambience, remains spectacular. The wooden boathouse type atmosphere next to the shrimp docks is certainly an asset they have retained. This location will continue to be a novelty for interstate travelers, and perhaps the very local crowd. I certainly wish Charlie and his crew the absolute best in the future. read more

What a great place! Driving from FL to NC, we noticed The Fish Dock at Pelican Point billboard advertisement on I-95 and followed the signs. This quaint fishing community is nestled in a very southern but true American hardworking community. Daily the fishermen of the restaurant begin the day on a deep sea fishing boat to grab that "catch of the day." Today the catch of the day was Trigger Fish, which by the way was DELICIOUS! We started with the Wasabi Tuna appetizer- yummy! Then we had a fresh Greek salad. This was not a salad shaken out of a bag. My husband ordered the fried shrimp and oyster dinner (It look so good that I had to perform a taste test.) which was tasty. I ordered the Catch of the Day Captain's Platter. It is the first time I have eaten blackened Trigger Fish. It was a fluffy white fish that was outstanding! I would definitely recommend this locally owned restaurant! The 7 mile road trip off I-95 was well worth our time. We will return. An added bonus: The movie Gemini Man with actor, Will Smith, filmed a scene here! read more

We were looking for local seafood restaurant and found this waterfront location. It was a little hard to find, and parking was not defined. However, the food made up for these inconveniences. We started out with Crab Stew that was excellent. We shared a platter of fried shrimp and oysters that were also very good. Service was okay. The food alone gives this place 5 stars. The meal was so fresh, cooked well, and seasoned beautifully. We got Tuna Wasabi for appetizer, and it was the best I've ever had. The crab stew was also delicious: warm, creamy and cheesy, and full of crab! My husband got crab and clam linguini, which was also fabulous. The portions were good, so you don't hate yourself afterwards for eating too much. I got a burger, and it was delicious and tender! Servers were friendly and responsive. The best oysters around. We ordered the oyster bucket steamed for $19.95, fish tacos, chicken wings and a crab cake sandwich with sweet potato fries. We brought our two small dogs and 8 outside on their patio. The view of the docs and the river was beautiful. All of the food was excellent. We asked for hot butter crackers and hot sauce for the oysters. They were so good that we had to have a second bucket. All total with tip our dinner for four was under $100. I was on vacation in Savannah and I had to drive 50 miles south to try this place out. Its in the middle of nowhere by the river. I almost got lost even with a gps. The gps takes you into the water but your supposed to take a left first. And the driveway to get to the place is like somebody's yard almost, like a dirt road. The service is great. Got refills super fast, super friendly staff. And for $30, included a drink too. The crab legs were very big, well seasoned, and plentiful. The prime rib steak was the best, so tender and moist. The fried oysters, fish, crab cakes, and fresh oysters was very good as well. The view by the window table was awesome in where you can stare outside on the docks and there are fishing boats as well. There is neat statues and decorations throughout the dining area. The dining area is huge. I will definitely go back again. read more

We've eaten at Pelican Point 4 times in the last 15 years as we've had family living near Savannah. Of the 4 times we've eaten there, (2) have been in the last 5 years. I believe that most people in general are way, way too hard to please; and, many reviewers in my opinion seem to over-think reviews and look to be critical. So sometimes I have a hard time taking a review seriously; that being said, with plenty of experience with Pelican Point, I hate to say it, but their food is just getting worse every time we go. We're never going back to be truly candid. The staff was friendly enough, but the food was just horrible. As most seafood places tend to be dirty somewhat, you have to prepare yourself for that; and that doesn't bother me really, especially if the food is good and the atmosphere is local; however, Pelican Point's owners seem to have made no improvements in a long, long time. What's sad about that is that the atmosphere is really neat, or should I say, it could be. It's literally on the river; so the views are amazing. It's got a really cool feel to it, and it's a shame that it's becoming so run down and neglected. Over all, It's dirty, and I can promise you I'm not a neat freak! So if I think it's dirty, it usually is way below par! Restrooms were horrible. Just grotesque. Ice Cream scoops were so covered in some odd colored growth barnacle things that I literally would not let my son use it. In fact, the cleanliness of the place made me wonder if those who run the health food/inspection code for the county had even been there in a decade. The crab legs are good no doubt, and they've been good every time I must say. However, the buffet is not way overpriced for the quality of the food in general. Like most buffets, it's overcooked from sitting out too long. It's all fried food for the most part, so it's just heavy, greasy type food. You almost have the feel that you went to a family style cheap buffetl and yet paid good money for it. Personally, I hate having to post a bad review, but this place seems to have passed the point of return unless new ownership comes in who would have some pride in their establishment at least to the point of cleaning it up, and then making the food worth the price you pay. I'm not sure what the reviewers who rated this place higher than a 2 star experienced but unless it was something resembling Grandma's Thanksgiving dinner, I don't understand their logic. My husband and I tried Pelican Point tonight and for a quarter of the price, could have had the exact same things with better flavor and all you can eat sushi at our local Hibachi Grill & Chinese buffet. The service was the only thing that I can say was decent. Our server refilled our drinks promptly before we asked. Other than that, I'm not sure why we just paid $64.00 for overcooked, lukewarm, old tasting crap. read more

This place has fallen off the last few years, so I was cautious to return. Now under new management, the place has been cleaned up and is similar to the quality it provided half a decade ago. The price is pretty steep, but the crab legs and prime rib are on point. The selection has been condensed a little, which gives everything a fresher vibe. The more limited choices are not left sitting indefinitely, unlike my previous experiences. The staff is kind and efficient. Came here about 15 years ago when it was Pelican's Point and had an incredible buffet. Now it's called Fish Dock and the buffet is gone. Came on a Thursday night. We were one of maybe half dozen tables. I could tell early on that our waitress was going to be overwhelmed with her two tables (us and one other). Food was ok, not great. Service was poor to terrible. Don't know the waitresses name so we'll call her Rhonda. Rhonda got our orders mixed up with her ONE other table. Came back out 20 minutes after ordering and asked us to repeat our order. When the food finally arrived a different girl told us that they were out of baked potatoes and asked if we'd like something different. Yeah, would've liked to know that BEFORE the rest of the food was on the table. My tea glass sat on the edge of the table for 25 minutes before she stopped back by and asked if I wanted "another beer". I said "No but I'd really like some unsweetened tea". Five minutes later she's walking by the table and is oblivious to my empty glass still sitting there. Then says "Oh she didn't bring you tea?". No Rhonda...YOU are the SHE that didn't bring me tea. Then when she brings the pitcher out she smarts off and says "Are you a big drinker? Do I need to leave the pitcher?" Meanwhile we overheard her with her other table and how she'd messed up their order. Figuring we'd be waiting a half hour for the check, we made our way up front. She spots us and comes over with the check, which had several items on it we hadn't ordered. Didn't apologize for any of this, just blamed everything on something else. Expected the food to be better, but this is just about how discontented we were with the service. I enjoy tipping well for good service. But the substandard service alone would prevent me from returning even if the food had been better. There are several other similar seafood restaurants along the Georgia coast - and within a short drive of here - that deserve your business more so than this one. read more

Heading north on the interstate, saw the sign for this restaurant and decided to take a chance and go off the beaten path and try it out. Delighted we did as it did not disappoint. The freshness of the seafood along with the excellent service from Heather made the trip worthwhile. We call this gem a traditional fish house. Its location on a river by the docks where the fishing boats moor is quaint, not ritzy. Its eclectic decor is fun to peruse with the understanding that they are a work in progress. So glad we opted to dine at this local stand alone eatery rather than stop in a chain restaurant where the location might put you back on the road a little faster but you won't get fish this fresh, crispy hush puppies with great flavor, and homemade key lime pie that begs one to have a second piece. read more

We were kind of apprehensive following the signs because the restaurant is about 7 miles off the Interstate right next to the river. The shrimp was great! The catfish was wonderful! This place has changed drastically since I was last here one month ago. When I was last here the place was empty but the customer service and quality of the food was amazing. Last night I walked and noticed there was a slight crowd(1 party and 3 tables). Busy night for them I'm guessing. Anyway not long after taking our seats our nameless server(she did not tell us her name) came and took our drinks. Lemonade was requested but was informed they only have tea and coke, even though pink lemonade was on the menu. Really just tea and coke, do they really expect parents to give young children tea and coke. Well I went to the very sweet older lady in the front( the only person who knew what customer service meant) and asked if they would be able to make lemonade for my son. Tah dahhh, a minute she walked out with pink lemonade and asked if anyone else would like some, of course as I don't drink soda and not a big fan of tea. So we ordered appetizers: wings, crab dip, and fried clams. A hour later we received our apps. The fried clams were good, the wings were wayyy over cooked, and the crab dip(with the saltine crackers) tasty like it just got out the freezer. I asked for blue cheese and 30 mins later the server returned with no blue cheese, I reminded her again and a short time later I received watered down ranch. By that time my wings were cold. So she took our orders, I asked for a "crab sandwich"(my exact words with fries and Mac and cheese, my aunt and sister order the shrimp platter, kids chicken tender was ordered for my son, and my cousin order a burger(he was not asked how he wanted it cooked. 45 mins later we received our food minus my aunts mashed potatoes and my Mac and cheese. The kids and shrimp platter was what to be expected. My cousin took one bite out his burger and almost died as it was still pink in the middle. I took a look at my crab sandwich and thought, what the heck was this. It was a fried crab with the shell still on it. I was thinking I would get a crab sandwich as in crab cake/patty. There's no way I can eat shell. So when our server finally returned with my aunt mashed potatoes which was literally an over baked potato that they legit mashed with no butter or sour cream and my white Mac and cheese that I immediately sent back before it hit the table as I knew I wouldn't eat. I was so disappointed as the last time I came, the Mac and cheese was normal baked yellow Mac and cheese as if my grandma made. Idk what that was but it wasn't Mac and cheese. But anyway... the server offered to have the kitchen remake my cousins burger well done, but no accommodations were made for my sandwich which was fine but I informed her that I would not pay for it as I didn't touch. A short time later my cousin received his remade burger, he cut into and believe it or not it was still pink. At this point we were all disappointed and ready to head home. The server came with the manager and explained our dissatisfaction, she offered to again remake my cousins burger but he declined and informed me that the soft shell crab comes with crab. My server who was not knowledgeable of the menu did not inform me that my crab sandwich would be a soft shell crab. Do I really look like I eat shell? The server was more empathetic and understanding than she was. I received the bill and of course they charged me 11.95 for something I didn't touch. I didn't not pay but later found out that my aunt put the difference on the table, which upset me more . So to sum up our visit, we all left unsatisfied and will not be returning. We wanted to go to BJs first anyway but the wait time was 1 hr and 30 min. This place is no longer worth the 1 hr drive. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING and will tell everyone I know to not waste their time driving there. read more

Worse meal I have ever eaten in a restaurant my entire life and I'm 64. Ordered the spicy seafood something. Very little seafood scattered on the plate and taste like they added tomato paste and absolutely no spices my wife ordered another meal and returned it to the kitchen after one bite, inedible! Will never eat there again and my advice is if you like expensive terribly food, this is the place you want to go! Only wish the rating system had negative stars. On my visit to Pelican Pointe 8.25.213, I arrived at a dilapidated building. 1. A dead fly on the table 2. Dead Roach on the floor 3. Dirty plastic bowls on the table for you to place your seafood shells in 4. Dead bugs along the window seal 5. Rusty container mounted to the wall to hold ice-cream scoops. 6. Employees serving food with uncovered facial hair 7. Crab legs served while still frozen 8. Food lukewarm and shrimp entirely too salty. Needless to say I will NEVER patronize Pelican Pointe again. This is my first time being here since pelican point closes...and let me tell you I will never return. Our first option was to go to BJ'S but the wait was 1 1/2 hour (I wish we would have waited). We were greeted by a very friendly host which showed us to our seats. Our waitress came and from there everything went down hill. She never told us her name so I just gave her one... we ordered appetizers mine was clam strips, my sister ordered wings w/blue cheese dressing, and my aunt ordered fish dip. Now they had no carbonate drinks just tea and water..which was ok being that none of us are soda drinkers but the tea was horrible I had my cousin taste it just to see if it was just me....but no they missed the mark. So again the friendly host came to the table to see if everything is okay my sister asked if they had any lemonade and she said sure we can make some for you..which was great! Our waitress came back and said "oh I didn't know they had lemonade "...WTH. I then asked what was the catch of the day she look at me with a blank stare and said "I don't know...I will go check the board" so I waited she came back and told us which it was which was flounder..the waitress then told us that she is new and really don't know the menu..so the look on my face was like that is waitress 101. Then she took our orders oh...BTW there is no kids menu...and we had my 2 year old nephew..so my sister order him chicken fingers and fries and asked if they can make it a kids portion..my cousin had burger and fries, and my sister ordered a crab sandwich. Seems simple...but boy were we wrong...now me and my aunt order shrimps. .my nephews food was an adult portion chicken fingers and fries..my sister crab sandwich was a fried crab on a bun...and how can you mess up a burger....our waitress seem as though we were getting on her nerves because she would do her best not to come to check in on us. So my cousin bit into his burger and it was bright pink in the middle so we called for the waitress and her words were "well...I didn't asked how you wanted" so I told her that he wants it well done ..like very well done. So she comes back 3 minutes later with another burger. I told my aunt to cut it in the middle just to ensure that it was done and again it was still PINK. My sister call for the waitress (we still don't know her name) and my sister is telling her she doesn't want this crab on a bun and while she was talking the waitress just walked off...WHO DOES THAT...this waitress does?? So the waitress comes back this time with the manager and she is very loud with her conversation with us which I didn't like ..so she wants to make a 3rd burger for my cousin and bit he and my aunt are like NO ...it's ok we just want the check and then my sister again mention how she does not want her crab on a bun. The waitress says .."MAN this is two meals we have to take off" the manager says that it's a soft crab sandwich and that's how it comes and the waitress should have explained that to you ..I chimed in and mentioned that the waitress does not know this one page menu so how can she explain anything to us if she does not know. The manager walks away. The bill comes and the crab on a bun is on the bill and my sister does not pay for it..and we leave now my aunt did leave a 10 dollars tip..which really was not because she had to pay for the sandwich. Now I will NEVER return because I couldn't believe that we came a hour away just to be disappointed. The waitress she have never been alone if that was her first night on the job that is not effective training which would include knowing the difference between ranch and blue cheese dressing. Thankfully there weren't bust by a long shot but still if you have people who are not familiar with your business menu it would be great to have someone who knows the menu to explain what the CUSTOMER may not know. read more

Like other reviewers here, I had good memories of the restaurant from years past. It was a dive for sure, but that's not at all uncommon for waterfront seafood joints. My how things have gone to seed. You have to pre pay and pre tip. How do you know how much you want to rip beforehand is anyone's guess. There are security cameras and warning signs posted everywhere. Never in my life have I gone out to eat and been confronted with security / warning / prosecution notices all over the restaurant and even the restroom. If your margins are that thin, up your prices a little and thin out some of your questionable customers. Because this is a completely unwelcoming experience Waitress came once. I had to chase down people to refill my watery soda. The food tasted old and smelled older. Management needs to read these reviews and take them seriously - I always am pulling for small businesses to turn things around. read more

Their fish is from Iceland and so it is usually limited to fish from those waters but they stand behind the freshness of their fish and I am a hard sell when it comes to fish. This is the best and freshest fish around. read more
