Stopped in Bemus Point recently as part of the Chautauqua Art Trail and decided to have lunch overlooking the lake at The Fish. A friend had eaten here several years and recommended it... We won't be back. We started with mussels in a white wine sauce: unfortunately they were desperately overcooked and were still filthy with 'beards' clinging. This was followed with pulled pork nachos which arrived room temperature with unmelted cheddar cheese and a strangely congealed queso. The menu claimed house-made tortillas but these certainly weren't. When that was pointed out, our waitress simply said it's because there was two types of cheese (a strange response) but did eventually agree to have the kitchen replace them. While those were being made, the mahi bowl arrived: over-cooked rice that had the consistency of rice pudding, over-cooked mahi that was leathery and bitter, and a mango salsa that was slightly slimy and aggressively sweet. We sent the mussels back half eaten, the mahi about a third eaten, and worked our way through the almost-edible nachos. At no point did a manager come over to make sure we were happy... at no point did our waitress seem to register that we weren't happy with our meal despite sending the majority back... the only thing that redeemed this meal at all was the surprisingly good live music and the breeze from the lake. We stopped in for a meal while on vacation. We wanted to sit outside and were sent outback downstairs for some reason. (We were told they have different menus downstairs and upstairs after being seated). I enjoyed my burger and the fries were really good. The view of the lake was great. PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW!!!!! We came 7/19/22 for a friends birthday. Four of us. First thing we did was sit at the bar and order a drink. The owner served us which is pretty cool. But... He was drunk, had to ask to pay my drink bill. After 10 min our birthday girl met us, and ordered a drink, cool. Then the owner, (the bar tender) flirted with her, in front of her fiancé. Not cool bro. Then we asked to be seated and we're seated. Here's how the rest went: 40 minuet wait on 4 waters : I had to go inside and ask the bartender if she could get someone to help us. I started with "I'm not complaining, we have been seated for 25 min and no one came to serve us drinks" and she was IMMEDIATELY rude back. It's my fault we didn't speak up sooner. Another 70 minuets wait on food: Waitress apologized, made excuses of how little staff they have, and how busy they are. When we got our food NO ONE was there. Food was cold to add on to the fun. Another 10 minuet wait on silverware : idk where she went but disappeared for 10 minuets before finally coming back. Another 5 minuets wait on the bill : got the bill, waited 10 min for a pen. *BONUS* A drunk owner coming down stairs stumbling around And we finally leave. One of the worst meals I've ever had. A waitress was crying and running across the dining room, nobody came to clear our table, and the food was awful. I ordered the crab legs that were supposed to come with mashed potatoes (random) and instead I got rice. The rice and veggies didn't have zero seasoning, they had negative seasoning. It was awful. This place has fallen so far off from the days of the Italian Fisherman. Can the Dalpras buy this place back please? read more

Went last week. Three people. Ordered pina coladas and after 10 mins was informed they had to be on the rocks. That's fine whatever. Stuff happens. Ten minutes or better later They came out and we each took maybe two sips and that was it. Disgusting. Thick consistency and tasted like straight up syrup. We ordered the nachos ($15) like we have in the past. They aren't the same. At all. Small portion. Not very good. Whatever. All three of us shrimp sandwiches. They were Ok at best. Too much seasoning. Not enough dressing. Disappointed to find our bill was $100. Nobody seemed to care that they cleared three full drinks off the table. The waitress was very nice and friendly. Before we ordered We joked with her and said it better be good because we will leave a yelp review. She responded "our yelp rating is terrible" that should have been our first hint To go anywhere else. Atleast She was honest. This restaurant was disappointing. I thought it would be good based off of their menu and their food variety, I was hoping for a better experience. The food is heavily overpriced. My crab cake came out burnt, and though they did bring me a replacement in a reasonable time, it was not good. I'm happy I was given two servings of fries, or else I would've been hungry. read more

Dinner reservation was at 6:30 p.m. Our table was not ready for us. Upon being seated no one acknowledged us for about 15 minutes. Then we had to flag down someone to even serve us. Our order was finally placed around 7 p.m. and we didn't get our food until 7:55 p.m. The food was absolutely horrible and I would not recommend going there. The pasta was all over cooked and mushy in every single dish. Food was bland and had no flavor. Three people got the Shrimp Scampi all made different ways. One with linguine and the other penne. Some with butter. Another without. (As a side note, we were told at 7:50 that our food was coming in 5 minutes but they did not have the chicken parm we ordered. It was replaced by overcooked penne with what tasted like grocery store Ragu). Glasses and garbage was left to sit all over the tables as we dined. Although there was a pile of trays on the cabinet next to our table, no one thought to give one of them a try. The table was cleared by a girl who had clearly not been trained and carried all of the glasses away in the crook of her arm. We were also served by having our drinks and meals brought out to us two at a time. With a table of 9 people, this took about 4 times as long as it should have. Servers were polite but pretty much everyone else seemed clueless as to what they are suppose to be doing. Poorly managed. Awful. We will never go again. read more

As always there are mixed reviews about experiences. I have been in the business for over 30 years with fine dining experience and do not typically write bad reviews. This restaurant deserves this review. We had a group of 8 that reserved a table and wanted to listen to music and enjoy the views of the lake. We were put in the furthest table from the music and could not hear it. The menu is a joke and pricing is even more absurd. Your chef and owner should be embarrassed for what is being served and what you are charging. The mahi bowl was overcooked, dry and tactless, $24. The scallops appetizer for $20 is pathetic, tiny little pieces of scallops with burnt bacon. The service was the worst I have seen in my entire career in this industry. Same comment was made in another post about this server. She was definitely drunk or on some drugs and didn't care. Horrible experience which I would not recommend anyone to go and waste your money. The place was empty while other places are packed. It's no wonder why after our experience. The owner needs to take a good look at what's going on and get it together. For being a seafood restaurant your menu is horrible and quality is very poor. Get a chef and manager who care about great service,, great food that match the atmosphere or you will be closing your doors soon. The prices you are charging do not reflect this type of quality. This restaurant used to be good few years ago but my experience today was terrible. We had to wait for our food about 1.5 and it was disgusting. The pasta was undercooked and super hard. The burger tasted really bad and pretzel was as hard as a rock. The shrimp was very oily, undercooked and had no flavor. To preface this review, my family has owned a house on Lake Chautauqua for over 20 years so I am not a tourist. This was the absolute worst restaurant experience I have had in my entire life. Ordered a glass of Rose, they brought me a glass of a white wine and tried to convince me it was Rose? Our group ordered an appetizer and then lunch. After 45 minutes, the appetizer came out at the same time as all of the entrees EXCEPT mine. I ordered the chopped salad with chicken. When it finally came out after everyone else had finished their meals, I got a small bowl of lettuce with chicken on top. It was the size of a side salad, not an entree salad. None of the many other ingredients listed on the menu were on it, and no dressing. When we politely complained to the waitress she talked to her manager. The manager didn't even come out to our table to talk to us and we were told we had to pay for all of the food ordered even thought they screwed it up. This place is horrendous. Our server (Nevin) was very attentive despite being extremely busy. We had a lovely view of the sunset from our table on the side deck. Our food was very good; our choices ranged from fish tacos to ahi tuna bowl...all were pleased with our selections. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

Do not go here. Service was AWFUL. Dirty, uncleared tables, wrong food and drinks delivered to table, would not credit us for an appetizer that didn't get delivered until after meals arrived. We ate on the lower patio. Hard working but inexperienced staff doing their best. Hamburger and Reuben were very good, fries delicious. The view of course cannot be beat. Beer (from tap) took almost 20 minutes to come out and one was room temperature, the other barely chilled. We instead placed an order for canned beer - something i highly recommend here. We will go back for the great location and decent food service level food on the lower deck. However, I would not advise doing it on a busy weekend - I don't think their crew could manage, and the other reviews bear that out. We'd love this spot to succeed. I hope the new owner takes these reviews to heart. He needs to invest in his servers and the cooking staff downstairs so they can keep up. The only reason to eat here is for the music and view of the lake. Service was rude. Drinks were sugary and gross. The food took a long time and tasted greasy. The only meal that tasted good was the Caprese salad. Save your money and listen to the music and enjoy the view from the park next door. read more

On a quiet morning, one of the longest waits I've ever had for food. Coffee was just dark hot water, with no taste. For the food, I have never seen a smaller omelet in my life. It was dried up and everything was cold. Our drinks sat empty for the majority of the two hours we where there, and the table next to us sat empty with plates and garbage for way over 2 hours with waiters and waitresses just hanging out inside. Overall a beautiful atmosphere with a great view and gorgeous interior. Great to visit if you don't feel like eating. read more

Floors were sticky everywhere with food scraps and chicken bones throughout the dinning room floor from the night before and it was 1:30 in the afternoon. Restroom was disgusting with sticky floor and filthy doors. Food just barely edible. Staff had no idea how to run a restaurant. We are local and go to Bemis often. Re drinks: 2 of us ordered margaritas....were told the machine wasn't working. We ordered w/just ice anyway. They delivered them in tumblers, & no salt. One ordered a Moscow Mule. They had to run to the grocery store for whipped cream. Re dinners: 3 of us ordered fish. No one got coleslaw which was included. One asked for malt vinegar for the fish and fries. They had to run back to the store. Returned saying there wasn't any. Asked for any kind of vinegar...nope....asked for a dish of lemons instead. Got the lemons 1/2 way through the meal. There seems to be a huge management/owner problem at this restaurant. The staff seems to do OK but they are very young. They seem to be not in tune with whatever management is doing. It is overpriced and the portions are small. Worse is the quality is very poor. I ordered grilled shrimp tacos and they came with cold cocktail shrimp. Two tiny cold shrimp in each cold, store bought flour tortilla. The manager tried to tell the waitress that they don't grill shrimp for allergy reasons. Anybody who knows anything about the restaurant business knows this is just a complete falsehood. They also tried to charge more for draft beer than indicated on the menu. We watched at least 3 other tables leave. When we asked how much longer in the food we were told it will still be awhile so we understand if you want to leave. They did not even try to keep us. The food wasn't that good and they didn't tell us what they ran out of or what Ingredients they don't have until after you ordered. This is my second visit. This time the service was pretty awesome, Curtiswas empathetic because my calamari was dry and over fried. Unlike my first experience in which my grilled swordfish was delicious but my server was so un trained he didn't know the difference between bourbon and canadian whisky, and then asked if I could show him how to separate checks on his ipad. Great atmosphere and the server aims to please. We ordered sushi as an appetizer. Sent it back because it was not sushi grade tuna or even sushi rice. I ordered Faroe Island salmon. I ate here 2 years ago and remember waiting 2 hours for food and terrible service. I dined here again tonight and ended up waiting another 2 hours for food (restaurant wasn't even crowded), our waitress took 45 minutes to refill our water on an 85 degree day, and when we asked for silverware for our party of 7 she brought back 3 sets and said "that's all i got". We spoke to the manager and he stated "what do you want me to do about it?". If you value your time or stomach health at all, do NOT eat here. Food was cold, bland, and orders were wrong. We were leary about checking The Fish out due to all the negative reviews, but knowing how many "Karens" that are out there these days, we opted to see for ourselves since it is in such a lovey location. It was a Beautiful September afternoon and since there are not too many days left to dine outside, we took a Saturday drive for a late lunch. The upstairs which is stylishly decorated, was empty, including the covered outdoor deck. The hostess offered a table on the lower deck, which was exactly what we were looking for. We were seated next to the lake, quickly greeted by our server and drinks ordered. The drinks were served within minutes. The mint in my mojito was not muddled, it lacked sugar, but the pour was very generous. We both ordered the fish fry (one full portion and 1 half portion with an easy substitute of seasonal veggies instead of fries). Surprising to us (contrary to reviews we read) our meals were served within a short period of time. We were disappointed by the size of the fish, as the full portion was equal to the size of a half at any other restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised to find that it tasted amazing, as well as the homemade cole slaw (which for some reason was served in a large takeaway cup). I wasn't expecting much from the veggies either as they looked soggy, but they were the best ive ever tasted. Perfectly cooked. Im not sure how they were prepared, whether it was a oil olive type marinade, or what, but they were delicious (zucchini, broccoli, and squash). French fries were abundant and crisp. Ordered a peanut butter pie to split for dessert, it was just ok, not worth $8 for the small slice. We look forward to returning some evening for dinner and music. read more

Very poor food quality. Good servers though. I should say the menu is actually good but whoever is executing in the kitchen is not hitting the mark. The appetizer of tuna was overcooked. My pasta wasn't drained and instead of being in a garlic butter sauce, it was literally sloshing around in my bowl in a pool of water. The scallops that were in the pasta were cooked nicely at least. My son had the lobster tail dinner and one of the tails was undercooked. (See photo, eew) My husband's chicken pasta dish was so overly seasoned with pepper you couldn't really taste anything else or eat too much of it. The server was very helpful and kind, she offered to take my pasta dish off our bill(it was the only thing we told her about at that moment because she seemed a bit overworked as it was) but it took management 20 minutes to do that so she could bring us our check. Our party of 6 had lunch at The Fish while on vacation. We were seated right away on the outdoor patio, but it took about an hour to get our food. The food was good, but not impressive. If you come here, it's for the waterfront location. Our server (who doubled as the hostess and bartender) was very friendly and apologized several times for the wait. The restaurant is obviously understaffed, but I can't give them a poor review for that. read more

Went to Fish Tank for what has historically been great Bloodys and fun. Bloody came with not two olives on the skewer. Server said no ingredients for traditional skewer. Ordered some chips and queso and chips were literally stale and soft. Server was told and did nothing. Stopped here while in town. Weather was not cooperating so we ate indoors. Atmosphere was good. Had a perfect view of the lake and the host made sure to seat us wherever we preferred. We just had a drink and appetizers (quesadilla and salad) but the food was great. Service was good. The family wanted to go Italian Fisherman for Saturday night but found out it was sold and became The Fish. We decided to give it a try anyway. The new decor has an upscale look and feel, and I actually preferred it over the previous oldish restaurant. The place was busy but we had a reservation and was seated immediately. However my enthusiasm was slightly squished when we were informed they ran out of some items. Not good for 6pm Saturday night. We ordered appetizer, tuna sushi for my son, tuna Tatar for wife and I shared cheese/fruit platter with my daughter. For dinner we had sea bass, duck breast, Thai curry shrimp and Delmonico steak. They were all delicious and the service was to match. I won't hesitate to go back again. I had to knock off 1 star for running out of items on the menu because that was dumb. read more

Today was our third attempt to eat at The Fish since our first disappointing experience at the start of the season. Each time we've not been greeted, not even acknowledged at the host station, in 15 minutes. When we went to ask for help we were told the same as the previous attempts, that the restaurant was short staffed and doing the best they could. It is time, out of compassion for employees for whomever operates this restaurant to hire new management. It's evident the customer experience doesn't matter. This has to be so stressful for the staff, no matter how pleasant customers are in asking for service, it is unfair to put staff in the position of constantly having to explain poor service. read more

Beautiful setting. Drinks are wet. But the food is really as bad as the other reviews have stated We shared the crab cakes, and they were cold. We also shared the blue burger. It had two top buns. Bacon was straight out of the fridge. Fries weren't bad. Service was fair but other tables had issues. With slow service. Try EBC. across the street. read more

This place was great! We ordered the clams casino, clam chowder and fish and chips. Everything was delightful. Fish was battered perfectly crunchy on the outside and flaky on the inside. Clams casino was tasty. We sat on the patio and the view and vibe truly relaxing. Service was good too. Can't wait to go back. read more
