Located right smack on the water of Chautauqua Lake's Bemis Bay, the views. The setting and general waterfront ambiance are nearly unbeatable. For 10 years I lived on Lake Chautauqua aboard my 42 Chris and I'd often dock and eat at this location. It was always such a pleasure. Besides its general location on the water, The Fish also has docking, a dock, and a floating bar. Plus, there is a nearby floating bandshell. Unfortunately, The Fish hasn't got much of a menu. Its food is sort of bar food in quality and taste. But for my meal, I had their 16-ounce Prime Rib which was very good and at $29.99 a bargain. We tried The Fish for the first time in several years. We left as disappointed as the last time we ate here. If we could give it no stars, we would. VERY small portion sizes, like embarrassingly small, for the price and the food wasn't good. The crab legs were ok but pretty hard to mess those up. The menu says three clusters, but beware that each cluster will be missing legs. We could've gotten the same crap food at The Casino and paid a lot less. The poor server seemed like she was the only one for the entire downstairs area, not that they were packed, but she was running, and service was SLOW. Crab legs came out hot, but everything else was not even warm. We ate downstairs (outside). The place is just run down and kind of gross at this point. We waited well over 2 hours to have food served, and at that the order was incomplete. Two days before July 4, they were obviously understaffed in both the kitchen and wait staff. The restaurant wasn't even busy after the first hour after we were seated. Really excusable. The previous restaurant at this location was well run and popular. Popped by The Fish the other night (a weekday) for a nightcap. We were in the Bemus area for a couple weeks visiting some family. Grabbed a glass of wine and chatted with the locals out back on the floating dock/bar. Our pours of Chardonnay and Malbec were generous, and the staff was jolly, glad to have just survived the surge of tourists on the July 4th holiday. We watched eager anglers on their boats try their luck under the moonlight from the comfort of our table. A patron, regarded with familiarity by the staff, came over to us to ask us if we were local. We chatted him up for a few minutes, then he ambled away to light and release a paper lantern into the sky. We watched (with the staff) in wonder as the lantern faded away into the darkness. I finished the last sips of my Malbec. The whole experience was endearing and charming. I'm happy we stopped in. read more

So many things wrong with this restaurant. First, it took more than an hour for our food to be served. One dish had been sitting for a long time and was dried out and cold. Second, it was wing night. Two people in our party ordered the wings only to be told that they were out of them. The waitress was sweet, but unfamiliar with the menu as it was her first night. My wife and I had eaten here when it was The Italian Fisherman and had a wonderful meal and experience. Sadly, as we came to use our Erie Fine Dining Card we were very disappointed. It was 4 p.m. and we decided to eat on the deck overlooking Chautauqua Lake which has a beautiful view. There was only 1 other table with customers on this Thursday evening. We ordered drinks and our dinner and our drinks came out in a reasonable amount of time. I ordered blackened grouper dinner and lobster bisque, my wife ordered Baratta salad with blackened shrimp. My bisque was not nearly as hot as it should have been and it arrived just a couple of minutes before our meals came. My fish was almost hot but not hot enough. It was very salty and chewy. The mashed potatoes were also warm at best. The vegetables were tasteless and also only slightly warm. My wife's 'blackened' shrimp weren't blackened at all. When I mentioned all of the above to our waitress when she finally came around to check on us she just looked at us and said "Huh!" I'm not sure why this restaurant made it on to our fine dining card but we won't be coming back. There are a several other restaurants in beautiful Bemis Point that we will patronize instead. read more

We brought a large family gathering to Bemus Point for a Monday night dinner. After another restaurant stiffed us on our reservation, we went to The Fish and were warmly welcomed. They seated us at a nice outdoor table with a wonderful view. Brooke, the server, was remarkable. She kept us all happy with prompt drink refills and a hot, delicious dinner for all, including the children, who loved their ice cream cones which were included in the Kids Meals. We had a wonderful time as a family here. We would highly recommend The Fish, especially for large gatherings. Brooke is the best server of all! read more

Nice that the restaurant was open on Monday (when so many around Chautauqua Lake are closed) Inside is very nice with comfy chairs , tablecloths, tables spaced out well. Has gorgeous views. If I could give a negative star review, I would. Every bit of our experience at this restaurant was awful. For starters, the restaurant was only about 1/4 full of their capacity. We sat inside upstairs right outside of the employee entrance to the kitchen. Kitchen staff yelled and swore multiple times so loud in the kitchen we could hear word for word what they were saying. For example, a staff member dropped crab legs inside the door before exiting and yelled "cocksucker mother fucker." We had kids at our table and another table near us also had two young kids who go could hear them yell this as well. We also waited over an hour and a half for our food. It wasn't until 5 minutes before our food came out that the waitress said "your food is on its way out, sorry we are super backed up in the kitchen tonight and have been all night." They could have given a warning prior to us sitting or ordering if that was the case. The table next to us waited 2 hours for food. Our food finally came out and my mahi mahi bites were so over seasoned I might as well have taken a handful of salt and ate it. 3 of us tried one and none of us could even finish chewing it, it was so salty. We will NEVER give this place our business or time again. Worst service, worst potty mouth young employees/manager, worst food, and way over priced for the trash they are serving. We left there a couple hours ago and we felt the need to reach out and let someone know how terrible our service was. This was the worst customer service we have ever had. The server was more invested with a boat out in the water than to take our order. She never came back to ask if we wanted refills or to check in. We had to keep getting up to find her. Also, we asked for our bills to be split up and she okay and we had to go find her 30 minutes later and brought us back one check. The restaurant was deserted so there was no excuse. My review is for the floating dock bar only. I did not eat any food here. I remember going to this place when it was The Italian Fisherman. It was a great place. Stopped there for a drink on the water recently while in the area. The floating dock is still there, bar too. There was a musician playing some great tunes on the Sunday afternoon. I ordered the pineapple mojito, which was the right amount of sweetness, and very good. My mom had the cucumber mojito, which was refreshing. These drinks were $10 each, comparable to all the bars in the Buffalo area with specialty drinks. I liked the ambiance and the bartender was extremely friendly. read more

Went to the Fish last night, and I have to say they need some help training their staff. We waitress 20 minutes for our drink and to place our order. Once we placed our dinner order our waitress disappeared and not to be seen for 30 minutes. We asked another waitress to see if she could locate our drink order and it was never placed. Once our food was prepared you can watch it sit and wait to be picked up. One hour later we received our cold food. On the positive the band and the view is awesome. The shrimp fettuccine alfredo, the shrimp was amazing! The pasta was ok. Some was under done and was chewy. You couldn't wrap it around the fork, but just some. The sauce was a bit bland, but better then overly spicey. My husband's stuffed shells came with no bread, (I shared mine), and was cold. He said the shells were a little tough, but that could be do to not being warm any more. Waitress was great, once we got seated and a server. I heard loud cursing from the kitchen, don't know what that was. We don't come in here often to know how off today was from the normal. Three out of four of us received the wrong entrée. The lobster bisque crab soup was cold and terrible tasting according to our soup connoisseur in the group. One person ordered Ice-T and never got it ,but we were charged for it and the waitress did take it off the bill when we pointed it out. Two of us ordered grilled shrimp bang bang tacos and one person ordered breaded buffalo tacos & not as described on the menu.What came out was two breaded buffalo tacos and one breaded bang bang tacos. We were told that the manager approved taking off one entrée on our bill. The food was good but no one bothered to make the order correct. We read the reviews but decided to try it anyways. Save yourself the time, the money, and don't bother go to this restaurant. Management and or the owners don't seem to care. Don't let them blame it on Covid, no wait staff and whatever excuse they give.Because it can be done right and it is being done right in and around Bemus point. At that point, if I wouldn't have been so hungry and angry, I would've just got up and walked out. The place will never last, don't waste your time or money going here!
