I'm from Oberlin and was given a recommendation by a few family members. We rolled in around 11PM on a Sunday 11/27/16, and had yummy food and great service. If you dine upstairs, you have to order at the bar. I had a burger, and my husband had a sandwich and tots. We enjoyed all of our food, and the beer selection was also good. If you're not sure about a microbrew, the bartender will gladly offer you a taste. We were told they offer brunch on the weekends. We live across the country, but will definitely be back when we return to Oberlin. read more

Dropped our daughter off for Oberlin Choristers and popped over with my wife for a quickie...lunch. Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food. The place was a buzz, but not obnoxiously loud. The bartendress came over and took our order within 5 minutes, even though her bar was stacked with people. Let me state from the very beginning that I category would not recommend this restaurant. Spoke with the manager regarding a order that he would not accommodate would not listen to me regarding at all. The manager even stated a lie in regards that he cannot do something when we know that he and the fact has done it. This restaurant seems to have a trouble with the truth in particular telling the truth. Came with the family for lunch. Had to wait about 30 minutes, and luckily the weather was nice because there is absolutely no waiting area inside the restaurant. I loved the selection of seasonings and dipping sauces for the fries/tots, but was a little put off by the charging scheme. I feel like most other places I've been to that offer a large variety of condiments usually don't charge for them, so in comparison it felt like The Feve was nickel-and-diming me for loving condiments. While I was super excited to find the avocado melt on the menu - it sounds like close to an ideal sandwich for me - I was not as satisfied with the actual thing. It was kind of bland/boring. Luckily I had purchased several fry sauces that I could use to spice it up. Speaking of the fries, I thought they were awful, but I am generally not in favor of the skinny/shoestring type. I'd almost always prefer fries to tots, but if I ever ate here again I'd definitely get the tots. My husband said his burger was quite good, and our server was friendly and attentive as well. Definitely not "good for kids," or at least small ones. The bathrooms are down steep stairs with no changing facilities, and the dining area is way overcrowded with tables so it's very difficult to get to your seat without bumping someone's head with your diaper bag. such a cool funky & hip restaurant!! art on the walls to look at, cute lighting above the bar, but the environment is poppin and a lot of fun for a college town. i got a salad with buffalo chicken and let me tell you that was an A+ dish. i do not regret it one bit. it was very crowded and loud in there, and seating was confusing b/c you just pick wherever there is an open seat, but i'd say these aspects also just make it more unique. definitely not the place for a quiet chill lunch, but still a great time!!! read more

This used to be the Tap House, home of 3.2 beer and the only pub in Oberlin. It got a little formica'ed up when I worked in Oberlin after graduation, and we started calling it McTap. Some cool locals bought the place and turned it into a pretty funky coffee house and place to escape Dascomb Dining Hall. Lots of red brick and sprouts. Haven't been back in a while, but I hear it's doing fine. read more

The Feve! Yay! Some aspects of the food and drink could be better, sure, but for a college-town bar (and the only bar in town), I think it's great. Of course, order some tots to go with your Great Lakes brew, and get one or two or three of the dipping sauces to go with. Many of the sandwich-type things are very tasty. Also check out the Friday 5-7 happy hour ($1 dollar well shots/drinks)--but, if you want a table during the school-year, you'll need to get there well early. What a great find! We were visiting the campus with our son who was considering the school. We are from California and not used to the bitter cold. I was longing for anything that remined me of home. We yelped the area for a lunch choice and went with Feve. Wow what a great sandwich selection. Many unique sandwiches with a lot of vegetarian options. Many beer choices and all California wines. My husband raved about the Cuban sandwich and I was very happy with the Ericka veggie. The decor was very simple, looked like a common california eatery. felt like home. Now you can spend both your weekend nights and mornings at the Feve! This isn't news if you live in Oberlin, but the Feve is serving brunch now - not just brunch, but awesome designer brunch. They change the menu every weekend, and feature entrees like chilaquiles (a southwestern b-fast), goat cheese scrambles, and different "fancy cakes" (one kind of savory pancake and one kind of sweet pancake). I enjoyed another spell there this past weekend - pretty much everything was fantastic except the side of fries I got with my buffalo shistawouk (no one likes cold french fries). I wish I could give this place three and a half stars. I really enjoyed the tater tots with hot sauce and bleu cheese. The sandwiches are okay. Since the area doesn't have too many restaurants, I think that they don't focus on having unique vegetarian options other than tofu (maybe seitan? Or tempeh?) or ensuring that everything has a robust flavor. However, it's a really cute place and the beer selection is nice (and cheap!). I would like to say that I am a huge fan of one of a kind trendy places to go hang out and grab a bite to eat. I was brought to The Feve by a friend and it was love at first sight. The walls are covered in local art and the atmosphere is very warm and comfortable. This is a good place to go either on a special occasion or a night out. The food is high quality with fresh ingredients and the service is outstanding. The hummus is probably the best I have ever had and i highly recommend the crab cake sandwich. read more

This is a great restaurant. I really liked the lay out and the s-curve bar. The pressed tin ceilings were beautiful. The menu is varied and has lots of options for salads and sandwiches. I went to The Feve for dinner after a long day of walking around town and I can definitely say that I'm glad I chose this restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful, the service was reasonably quick, and the Boca burger I had was certainly one of the best vegan/vegetarian burgers I've ever had. On top of all of that, the pricing was reasonable--$8.25 for my burger with fries and under $2 for a fountain drink (which I'm assuming could be refilled for free) and not a lot more than that for bottled beverages. This is where you go in Oberlin to get a nicely priced beer and a huge plate of tater tots after you've danced your butt off at a house party. Or if you're visiting the town after being away for years, you'll want to come here to have that one nostalgic beer. I haven't been back in Oberlin since 2013, but I imagine when I do visit my alma mater in the future, my first stop will be the Feve. The burgers are also great (especially if you add avocado and bacon) and all of their sandwiches are bold yet delicious. I also really like the brunch they serve here on the weekends because they really go out of their way to come up with dishes that pay tribute to culinary traditions from around the world. It's not uncommon to see chile rellanos or green Thai curry on the Saturday menu...which I love! Definitely check out the Feve during the weekday for a burger and a beer, then come back on a Sunday for an unexpectedly memorable brunch. read more
