Black market curried roasted vegetables ($20+$6 for tofu), vegan by default. Not bad.

The Fat Radish, located inside a house in Cornucopia, Wisconsin, is a fabulous spot to get a vegan meal in the Bayfield-Ashland area. They label all their vegan options and even have vegan baked goods. We sat outside on one of their two patios and had a lentil loaf ($20) which was a savory, old-school style of vegetarian/vegan cooking you don't see often anymore (it reminded me of the classic Moosewood in Ithaca, NY). We liked it. The side of french fries ($4) weren't crispy enough, so these felt more like mashed potatoes once you started eating them. The black market curried roasted vegetables ($20 + $6 for tofu) is vegan by default and tasted fine. Lastly, we liked the vegan, gluten-free oatmeal cookie ($3). Stop by the Fat Radish for a nice meal after a day of hiking to see the sea caves of Lake Superior.

    Grilled cheese and BLT!

Went for lunch in the new location in Washburn. Pleasantly surprised. Food came fast and was really good! I had the grilled cheese and soup and the wife had the BLT. Best BLT and grilled cheese I've ever had.

The service was awful. I am all for (and understand) when good food takes time. I think it's completely different when you are avoided or made to feel bad when asking for things like silverware, napkins or water. When entering, a sign asks that you wait to be seated. I watched 2 servers walk around the dining room multiple times without making eye contact with our group or the steady stream of people behind us. Wasn't even too busy as evidenced by one of the servers going back to sit behind the counter. When we were seated, we were told we could sit wherever we want. Why even put out the sign? Took a while to get water. We were able to order within about 10-15 minutes but didn't get silverware until after our food was served and we had to ask for it. No chit chat until the end of the meal which just seemed a little too late. They almost seemed annoyed that we were there. Another 10 minutes after we were done before we got the bill and could close it out. I liked my grilled cheese with the soups of the day but my companion was not a fan of their meal - mufaletta sandwich. Would have preferred the mac and cheese probably or maybe some of the creative deli salad options. All in all, it has potential but I would only recommend if you have time to kill and if you don't care about human interaction.

***they have a lot of vegan AND vegetarian options*** Second day driving into Bayfield for a meal and a lot of people raved about this place. We got here at about noon and barely anybody in and within about 20 minutes every table was full. I was in a party of 8 people with one "child" ( she just usually eats off the kids meal) We got A few appetizers then ordered and I know the sign says they support the slow food movement, but just to let people know it took about 25 minutes for everyone to get their food. We have three of the cuban bowls, fish tacos, quiona balls, Mac n cheese, the nachos, and the chicken fingers from the kids menu. I got the cuban bowl without guac or pico and it was good but if I was on my own I wouldn't have paid for it because it was $15 for not that much food. Like A 1/4 of the bowl was meat 1/4 of black beans and then a bed of the rice and a crap ton the veggies all over. It was alright and I know the restaurant selection is few here, but I don't think it was as good as people made it out to be.

Old spot (was the Village Inn), now totally redone into a vibrant new spot here in Corny! Just the interior work makes this restaurant/bar worth a stop..lots of air and light. But don't forget to try the food! The whitefish was sooo good, as well as the delicious/spicy curry bowl. Most of the offerings are locally sourced (Stella Artois isn't exactly local). Just recently reopened as The Fat Radish, I suspect that the taps will reflect a more local flavor. So slow down, stop by and try this new experience!

Curried cauliflower - Roasted cauliflower florets served on a black plate, accompanied by a small metal cup of mashed potatoes and garnished with sliced green onions.

We had a reservation but were in the area a little earlier than expected and they seated us early on the patio. We got the curried cauliflower as an appetizer, which was very tasty, but the portion was a little small. My husband ordered the ribs, which were amazing and probably the highlight of the meal. The fish tacos were decent but nothing exciting. The service was a little slow, but they were noticeably short staffed.

    Pickled Shrimp!! Very good!

Great place to eat. Food was fantastic. The only reason I'm giving 4 is the attitude we got when we didn't have reservations. It was a Wednesday night. They were closed on Tuesday and we stayed just down the street. Anyway, the food was great and the atmosphere was nice!

Forgot to post photo till after finished ! It was so good!! came breakfast and dinner in same day. Not only is it farm to table - supporting local ag (woot!) but also delicious food!! 100% recommend Tip: make reservations unless you don't mind waiting!

    The perfect breakfast.

While the patio is dog-friendly, you have to go inside to the bar to order your drinks and food and dogs aren't allowed in there. So, if you're traveling solo with your dog, be aware of this. I just left the car locked and running while I went in to order, put my placard down on a table outside, then went and grabbed the pup from the car. The Caesar Salad with chicken was lovely and had nice, crisp greens - not just the light colored watery lettuce, this had the medium and dark green goodness too. Still a little bland tasting, but it is a nice size and I ate the whole thing. The chicken on top of it was warm and freshly cooked, and absolutely delicious. I shared a piece of chicken and some lettuce with my pup and he likewise approved. It was a warm sunny day, so I ordered a Kentucky Mule to go along with my salad. Staff was a little busy with tables inside (lots of children at one table) so they forgot about my drink sitting on the bar. It came out just after my salad, so I just decided to make it my dessert instead of my appetizer :) Friendly staff and good food. If you're out this way, why not stop in and enjoy for yourself?

Staff were professional and you could tell were old hands and knew what was what. I ordered the hot mess (their version of poutine but without cheese curds and with shredded roast beef) which was amazing, SO good. I had a special - sliders on pretzel buns, and while the beans and coleslaw were delicious, the sliders were just okay. Others in the group loved the pot pie, and my kiddo devoured the burger. The quality of the food and the service place the Cranberry Over Superior above other seemingly similar options in the area. Highly recommend.

We were not in a rush, but the service was so slow. It really makes me wonder how they do when the place is actually busy! Well, we all wanted different fish and or seafood and we were told that they were very busy from the fish fry from Friday that they had no fish at all. Meaning any meal that contained seafood, they didn't have. (we asked a lot of questions and it seemed any seafood was out) That's about 80% of the menu. Our server gave off a vibe that she didn't care whether or not we were there and I'm guessing that this is probably her first job? We all ordered soup and after sitting at our table for a good 15-20 minutes, I had to approach her at the bar and asked to see if we can get the soup prior to our meal being served. Her reaction gave me the impression she totally forgot we also ordered soup. After we were given our food, we were maybe halfway done eating when she started to bring all of our dessert to the table. So we are finishing up our meal while our dessert was sitting right next to us. (we ordered the dessert because they were out of everything else and we were afraid that if we didn't order it with our meal, we would have nothing). Won't be back.

They usually have several specials on the chalk board. I usually get the 1/2 rack of ribs. They are FANTASTIC. Super tender and the sauce is great. I've also had their chicken wings - great! On our most recent trip (the last week and a half) - I had the ribeye special with the loaded baked potato and coleslaw. It was cooked perfectly and super tasty.
