It had been years since I purchased a new pair of glasses. And since I had just updated my prescription, I thought I would buy some new frames too. I'm extremely picky when it comes to personal items like eye wear. I had been to several places but couldn't find anything I liked or looked good on me. Then I went to The Eye Gallery on Westheimer. They have a great selection of quality designer frames. Christina showed me several pairs based on what I was looking for. She also showed me a pair of Lunor frames in a lighter color that I would have never chosen myself. They were the perfect size, and looked and felt incredible!! I ended up buying them! This is one of the reasons why I like to shop at locally owned businesses. You get much better personal service, and everyone at the store were very friendly and helpful. Everyone at both locations (River Oaks & Post Oak) are knowledgeable and they always help me choose a frame that fits my style perfectly! The turnaround time for receiving my frames/lenses is always timely and the quality of their product is much better than what I've seen in all of Houston. ONE OF THE FEW Places in town to find a decent selection of designer frames. I went in to purchase new Chanel frames, and the salesman was extremely rude. Sarcastic and arrogant. After putting up with his attitude, I dismissed him and asked for the owner. Yes, they were expensive and The Eye Gallery does not accept insurance, but it was worth it due to the quality frames and customer service they offer! I'm so pleased with how stylish and sturdy my Mykita glasses are -- I've worn them regularly for the last three years and they've held up beautifully! I just came in to get new lenses for the same frames (since I love them so much and my prescription changed) and received the same great service as three years ago. If you're looking for the best selection of eyewear in Houston, this is the place to go. I was a in a pinch when my old generic frames of four years snapped in half one evening. The Eye Gallery team took care of me in no time and were able to provide several options to replace my glasses. They took the time to walk me through the options and explained the difference between the quality seen in their selection versus generic brands. There were so many styles and colors that it was hard to narrow it down to one pair, so I got three pairs instead! This place is awesome! I have a small head, so finding glasses has always been difficult. As soon as I walked in the door, Christina started pulling out frames that would work and quickly sized up my preferences. Ended up buying 2 pairs of Mykita-beautifully made and very comfortable. They were ready for pick-up in 3 days, and Christina helped me get a perfect fit. This beautiful store chain has the best selection of cool acetates in Montrose. The range is from expensive ($250 frames) to gulp-inducing ($600) frames, but they do run sales. The staff is very helpful in suggesting what's flattering for you and your style. Ultimately I didn't choose glasses from here, although I came close, but they literally spent hours with me helping me try to decide and I appreciated that. Even in contacts it's so hard to see yourself with the demo lenses! They have Barton perreira, mykita, and other cool brands. The rice university store has Anne et Valentin and woow, which are hard to find. They also have a crazy optician-grade selfie machine that lets you visually compare 4 pairs at the same time, which is kind of helpful. I give 4 instead of 5 because they got a little hard sell on me at the end, which I didn't like. read more

I am super picky about my eyewear. Until now, I wandered from one boutique to another, never fully satisfied. This year, with only 48 hours left to spend my FSA balance, I found THE PLACE. I have been a fan of Bevel frames, and found Eye Gallery through the Bevel site. I was greeted, twice, and within 20 minutes had four solid frame contenders to choose from. Tina is expert in size, fit & shape. She is the eyeglass whisperer. I won't go anywhere else again. Eye Gallery frames are $$$ and they aren't a VSP provider. But most folks plan ahead and fund either FSA or Healthcare Savings Account to get a bit of tax break on the cost. read more

I love this optician. I have purchased two pairs of glasses from them in the past two years, and both have been impeccable. The selection of frames is eclectic and out of the ordinary, but you will pay for the uniqueness of the inventory. They are not cheap, but they have generous sample sales several times a year, which puts the prices within my reach. The customer services is amazing. They delivered my glasses to my office when they were late due to an error at the lens lab. They are also dog friendly and are more than welcoming when I bring mine in to hang while I pick out frames or get an adjustment. read more

A friend suggested The Eye Gallery after my failed attempts to find anything I remotely even liked at all the other optical places. Add to this, my prescription is now for Presbyopia, so I would need a new type of lens. The Eye Gallery has a ton of extremely stylish & cool frames, but I'm a pretty conservative gal, so I thought it wasn't for me. Until the girl who helped me (can't remember her name, so sorry, as she was terrific) started finding frames to fit my personality. I found a pair, had them made, and they are so beautiful. Eyewear is one of my vices. I lost my favorite pair of Anne et Valentins in a cab in New York, After a frustrating and fruitless search, I started my quest to find a replacement pair. I started my search at Spectacles, since Evan Mapes and his crew started me down the dark path of eyewear dependency. While Evan is still the best eye doctor in the world, they didn't have much of a selection of eyewear when I was there and I had to keep looking. The only other carrier of Annes in Houston was the Eye Gallery of Houston. Their collection of eyewear is by far the best and most extensive that I have seen in Houston. If you are going to spend the money for a true designer pair, you really owe it to yourself to go and take a look. Tina the owner was very patient while I tried on about 15 different frames. I am a little fussy about eyewear and don't usually find more than a few pairs that interest me. In the end, I ordered another pair of Annes from France but when they came in I didn't like them and wanted a different frame. Tina agreed to let me replace the glasses for the cost of the new lenses, which is great since designer frames can be expensive. Tina went over and above what any other shop would do to work with me. She first called the manufacturer to see if they could replace my lost frames and when that didn't work, to help me find a replacement pair. I will definitely be back!!!! read more

This is the place to go if you are looking for high quality eye wear with a superior service. I had combed through the Houston area and hit up many (6 locations) eye wear salons, boutiques, and stores only to be disappointed by their selections and poor customer service. That is until I arrived at The Eye Gallery of Houston. This place has a beautiful collection of unique frames which I have never seen anywhere else. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Andrew. He was very friendly and helpful in choosing the perfect pair of frames for my face. I must mention that I am very picky and slightly indecisive when it comes to purchasing products. I'm an engineering student so over analyzing everything is what I'm good at. Andrew understood what kind of look I was going for and helped me narrow down the selection until the perfect pair was determined. I ended up with the Norton by Barton Perreira in black which I am very satisfied with. I was then greeted by Sadiq, who took measurements of my vision which would be used later for cutting the lenses. He, as well, was very friendly, up to date on fashion trends, and able to answer my technical questions. Tina, the owner, also explained to me all the options for lenses and coatings as well as the pros and cons of each. I came back a week later to pick up my new glasses. I hadn't worn glasses in a very long time so it took some time to get use to them. My prescription is a -7.5 (which is pretty strong) so I ended up getting high index lenses which allows for a more aesthetically pleasing, thinner lens and a reduction in weight. I wore them for a week but I had come to the conclusion that my peripheral vision wasn't going to be getting any better than I had hoped. I understood that some distortion was normal as you neared the edges of the lenses but I was only able to see through the center of my lenses when facing directly towards an object. Looking at things from a slight angle resulted in blurred vision. I went back to The Eye Gallery and explained my situation and I was told by Sadiq that in rare instances, people with my strong prescription are sometimes quite sensitive to the distortions I was experiencing. He then assured me that he would make sure that I was completely satisfied with my glasses before we were done doing business. He called a rep from a company that stated to have special lenses which allow for a wider peripheral vision range and less distortions. They were ordered, cut, put into my frames, and my peripheral vision was definitely a lot better. This was all done at no extra charge, as The Eye Gallery was generous enough to cover the entire difference of the new lenses and the original lenses that I had purchased!! I was told that they were covering the difference because I had not been offered the option of the special lenses the first time around. I adore my glasses, I can see great, and I look great doing it, thanks to The Eye Gallery. To sum it up, The Eye Gallery of Houston has a great selection of unique eye wear from around the world that you will not find anywhere else in Houston. The staff has a keen fashion sense and are aware/up-to-date on what looks good , they are knowledgeable about the technical side of optical lenses, and they go the extra mile to ensure that you are completely satisfied with your purchase.
