Took a date last night to The Exchange to try and capture some of the magic of sunset in Lancaster. Even though the weather wasn't cooperating, it was still one of those surprising meals. I say surprising because my first reaction was disappointment at the small size of the menu. Once we decided to roll with it and take a recommended path of sharing several small plates, it turned into one of those meals that reminds you why you go out to eat in the first place. We ordered several elevated small plates, but the standout was the crispy rice with spicy tuna. It was flawless. The rice base was perfectly golden and crunchy on the outside with just enough tenderness inside. On top, the spicy tuna was fresh, buttery, and beautifully balanced -- not overly mayo-heavy, not overly spicy -- just clean, bright flavor. The drizzle underneath added a subtle creaminess that tied everything together without overpowering the texture. Every bite delivered contrast: warm and crisp against cool and silky, with little pops of sesame and microgreens adding dimension. It felt thoughtful, refined, and executed with real attention to detail. Pair that with the rooftop atmosphere -- polished but relaxed -- and the whole experience felt elevated without being pretentious. If this dish is any indication, The Exchange understands how to take something familiar and make it memorable. read more

So happy that we found this place!! My mom and I were in town from MD to see Sight and Sound and we came across this place on TikTok (I'm a sucker for a rooftop vibe!). This place did not disappoint, it was even better in person! Very swanky place and the panoramic views were incredible. The food though!! We ordered the mushroom pizza and added some caramelized onions and cauliflower to it - OMG. Some of the best pizza I've ever had and I am a true pizza lover so that's saying a lot. Also got the crispy sweet potatoes, yum! For drinks we got the special which was like a lemon drop but different (can't remember the name) and it was so good. The presentation of everything was on point and our server was fabulous and very friendly. We could not stop raving about this place and we will be back to experience the outside rooftop when it's warm outside again!! read more

We visited The Exchange during a recent trip to Downtown Lancaster and LOVED IT! This 12th-floor rooftop spot inside the Marriott has the kind of panoramic views you don't often see. Church steeples, historic rooftops, and rolling hills of Amish Country in the distance. We came right before sunset after a rainy day and scored a perfect seat by the window. The view was magical! The food is mostly small plates and pizza, but it was delicious. We loved the Calabrian Chili Wings (crispy with the perfect kick), the Crispy Baby Artichokes (huge portion, great aioli), and the Spicy Crab Bucatini (so much crab, cooked perfectly). Cocktails were creative. Try the Mezcolada and the Elixir #2! Our server Jozlyn was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and knew the menu very well. Her pacing was perfect and she made great recommendations. It's not cheap, but for the atmosphere, quality, and service, it's totally worth it. Went to visit downtown Lancaster. What a nice area. Everything is so clean. This rooftop bar is definitely worth checking out. I think it was one of the nicest (if not the nicest) Rooftop I have been on. They have an inside which has an open kitchen setup . There is a large chandelier that is absolutely gorgeous inside. There is a bar as well that is inside and outside on the roof deck. The inside bar has an open set up so you can still see the full outdoor bar. The outdoor bar has an amazing view of the city. The outdoor bar had a ton of fire pits as well. We sat at the bar. The server was really quick and friendly. We got a cider which was pretty good and a non-alcoholic beverage. The N/A Moodswing was pretty good. It tasted a bit like a raspberry tea. They have this interesting blue ice block that didn't seem to change the color of the drink. The bartender said if we would have left it for a long long time we would have eventually seen the blue ice cubes change the color of the drink. The blue ice cube was a Blue Butterfly Pea Tea Cube which was quite odd and interesting. read more

This was my first time ever hanging out in Lancaster and I was definitely surprised to see that they have a place like this! The Exchange is a beautiful rooftop bar/restaurant with stunning views. We sat outside, where they have heaters throughout to keep you warm. However, the views from inside are also great as they have giant windows. I can't speak to the food because I didn't order any, but the drinks were very delicious, plenty of options to choose from and they weren't too strong nor were they watered down. WOW! My husband and I came here for the start of our date night and we wish we wouldn't have left. The views, even from inside, were awesome. Such a chill but sophisticated atmosphere. There's a cute bar area but I love the "lounge" like seating throughout. The service was fantastic from start to finish. The food - wow! This spot is a great like after work or just want to hang roof top bar. They have like a cool lounge bar with a sports bar feel almost cause of the TVs. They do have a full bar but almost make custom drinks. The drinks were good and a nice balance. I thought the night we went the service was kinda slow. If you want a real treat, come on up to the sunny side rooftop. Come in just before sunset and catch a beautiful view of downtown Lancaster! Also, the food here rocks! We had the crab beignets and the pickle brined chicken nuggets. Both were spectacular! The appetizer of pickle brined chicken was so juicy, you have to hold them over your plate. The beignets were like small fried crab cakes. We also had a Quattro Fromaggio wood fired pizza and added pepperoni to it. That was one of the best pepperoni pizzas I've had in a long time. The beer was delicious with 5 craft choices and 20 or so canned selections. Cam was our waiter and he was spot on, welcoming, and attentive. If you are downtown, or staying in the Penn Station Marriott, this is your place for the sunset. Try it, you'll like it. read more

The Exchange is a really nice place to get drinks and some light food. The atmosphere and location of the establishment really is what draws people to want to come here or try here for the first time. I'm not all that impressed by the place, but I'm sure many people would say otherwise just strictly based on the aesthetics. Food: Expensive and small portioned. Don't get the beef skewer/steak pieces (see picture) from the appetizers/small plates because not only was it INCREDIBLY tough to chew and bite through it was super dry and bland. I almost left it there completely untouched but I took it home out of respect...then put it outside for the animals to eat. Unfortunately that was an expensive dish and it didn't taste good at all. Pizza was good, we ate that...again just expensive for the portion you get. The wrap dish (again, see picture) was also very good and we enjoyed that very much. There really wasn't that much to choose from as for "meals" ...based on previous reviews from years ago, their menu was a little more "meal" filled and now it's just small plates that really aren't meals Drinks: we didn't order any crazy drinks but no complaints from the drinks we did order. Got our drinks fast. Atmosphere: quite loud and beautiful inside. The chairs were kind of weird and it was super cold in there despite it not being that warm outside that night. Outdoor section wasn't open...I think I would've preferred to sit outside and have a heater than sit inside and freeze Service: waitress was super nice and no complaints here. She was bustin her butt the entire night, I saw two people on the floor serving food and that was it Would I come back here? Probably not. The best thing about the restaurant was the ambiance. I got the steak frites and ordered it medium. It came out well. But to top it off, we were put in the corner and forgotten about. We're in Lancaster with my in-laws & they've been showing all of the great local places. This is not one of them. From the way we were treated last night we deduced that this must be a corporate venue. We had reservations, went up & the host was nowhere to be found. After a few minutes we found someone & asked. He said he'd get the host to us. No greeting or apology at all. The host finally came out & seemed bothered, as if we were interrupting something more important. She quickly grabbed some menus & took us to a table as she asked, over her shoulder for the reservation name. Again, no greeting or apology. We sat & looked at the menu as we discussed the total lack of service. After a while as well as noting that the menu was overly priced we got up & left. The main reason our in-laws chose this place was because of the great outdoors rooftop ambiance with fireplaces & comfortable seating. We looked out to the terrace & non of that was present. Fireplaces were not lit & it was empty. We will not be returning. This was our first time there & our in-laws mentioned that they received poor service the last time they were there also. read more

Beautiful rooftop bar in Pennsylvania. High up on the 12th floor. Just a reminder after 4pm you must be over 21 to enter. A guard will card you at the lobby after 4pm and let them know you're coming up. The place is beautiful to hang out for a drink and conversation. The views outdoors are quite spectacular and even better with the heat lamps on during a cold December evening. The food is not that great so don't get your hopes up on delicious lip smacking food. We had 2 pizza's the Lancaster and Margherita pies, spicy paella and onion rings. The pizza's were extremely doughy but I did enjoy the toppings on my lancaster pie which consisted of bologna, provolone. cherry pickled relish and fried basil. The spicy paella was just ok and the onion rings had too thick of a crust. The Exchange is great for the atmosphere, ambiance and drinks, not so much for the food. The service is top notch and the place is kept clean. I never made it there but there is a happy hour daily between 4-6pm. Nice place to hang out and the prices are not too steep. read more

My husband and I went to have an after dinner drink here at approximately 930.. the gentleman at the door said they were at capacity and said it would be an hour wait. We walked outside and made a reservation on open table for 945 and walked right in.. which was a joke, but worse than that, when we arrived and their were 2 tables occupied and 2 people at the bar. NO LIE!!!! Even the staff was complaining the host was saying they were on an hr wait. Shame in you. We will never visit again. I feel bad for the staff :( read more

I came here for my 35th birthday! We had a reservation and was seated immediately. At first it was everything. The atmosphere and ambiance was dope. The host was kind and loved her. We went outside and had a wonderful view of the city. It was up until we got our food where there was issues. Being a host of my party I was tending to my guest, the server...though she was sweet she took my food and I didn't even eat it. They only reimbursed me one entree out of two. Management was rude and quite racist. Because we were unhappy the manager greeted us with security and stated they will no longer serve us because of this some of my guest got irate which was embarrassing to say the least but management brought it on their self. I felt bad and talked to our server, apologized for my guest and the manager then gave a discount and said I am more than welcomed to come back but because of the way he handled things it was rude and not called for. Excellent place! To start, I love rooftop bars. And this one not only the highest in Lancaster, but also is set to perfection. Whether you are inside or outside or at the bar it provides amazing views. The staff are friendly, professional and attentive. Inside the place is higher end yet comfortable. A somewhat limited menu, open kitchen but the items are perfect. I had a bacon peach ricotta pizza and the best thing about it was the dough. It was delicious and perfect. My wine and beers were flawless and the prices are completely worth it. I think it is a major experience place with a great offer. My favorite in Lancaster. read more

Before COVID, I came for a birthday party in January, but not even the cold air and snow on the ground could keep us from having a good time and enjoying the nighttime skyline views from the Exchange rooftop. Staff was on point and drinks were flowing. After COVID, we stopped in for a personal celebration with about 8 friends and though the service was slower the atmosphere was every bit as enjoyable as I remembered. I'll reserve my thoughts on food since so far I've only tried drinks here and not more than a bite of someone else's pizza for food. read more

Would not recommend this place if you are not from Lancaster. I'm not sure if they felt the vibe of where I'm from but they did not welcome me and my company. We sat at the bar and didn't get a menu till 10 - 15 mins after . We came in at the same time as another party and they were greeted , given menus and served meanwhile we waited the whole time . If your Latino or Latina your gonna get treated like shit.The bartender didn't even wipe down the table after me and my group got there.We had to wait 10 min after asking the bartender to wipe it down for us until he actually decided to remember we were there.I even ordered a beer and didn't get served till after he took care of everyone else , and already started cleaning his station. The beginning of the night was a little uncomfortable, but we ended up having a good time. We had a group of about 10. 5 people showed up around 2-3 minutes before the other half and were extensively carded by the door person. Pretty normal except for the fact that a white group of patrons in-between our group of 5 allegedly wasn't carded at all (We're all POC). Rubbed us the wrong way. The space was excellent on a nice spring day. Bar is outstanding, and offers a great view of Lancaster and all its glory. Our waitress was great to talk to and learn about while giving great suggestions on food. The food itself was ok. Had high hopes for the crunch supreme but mine was pretty dry. One of our favorite spots on our trip to Lancaster. Awesome rooftop bar with a great atmosphere. The food was phenomenal, and the drinks were top tier. Breathtaking views of the city from the patio or the bar area. Very exclusive feel when you enter and take the elevator up to the top floor, and casual in feel at the same time. We came in here Saturday on Jan 8, '22 in hopes to catch something open late night and to also grab a bite. It was our first time in Lancaster and in this establishment. We came around 10pm right after having a very bad unwelcoming experience at a different famous town establishment, for which I have a separate review. Here at TE, we were seated at a bar with a very nice an friendly bartender helping us. The drinks he made were so delicious. My husband and I were thrilled. He made very careful and considerate food recommendations according to our dietary needs. His service was impeccable. He graciously gave us many recommendations as to where to go and what to do in the city of Lancaster, and...he snapped a very memorable picture of us at the roof terrace without us even asking. We were so so happy; he turned around our night after our unpleasant experience at a different establishment prior to coming to TE. Last but not least, the ambiance and interior were very tasteful. The Exchange Walking into the door of The Exchange, I felt a change of ambiance immediately. When you enter in the building, you are greeted by a hostess that checks your ID, and communicates upstairs if there is space for your party. I totally suggest that you make a reservation in advance because this is an establishment that is a hot spot in Lancaster. Once you have the okay to be seated, you are directed to the elevator to take you to the top floor. Mind you, this is a high rise restaurant. Once the elevator doors open, you are greeted again by the host. Me and my friends were seated and we were taking in the classy ambiance. Our sever was absolutely fantastic. He was attentive, (good-looking), and knew the menu inside and out. Again, you may have read before in one of my reviews that I am a socialite and I LOVE to go out for drinks. The Exchange has a unique drink menu. If you like Old Fashion, I highly suggest that you get their buttered old fashion. That may not be the proper name of the drink, but it's close enough. I suggest that if you are going to visit Lancaster during the spring/summer season, make sure you stop by The Exchange to look over the city. read more

First visit to The Exchange. Although they are part of the Marriott Hotel, the entrance is separate on the side. It was pouring buckets, so the Marriott front desk staff were kind enough to lend us an umbrella (we parked in garage). You enter and then there is a host at ground level who checks your reservation and then sends you up on the elevator. We were seated promptly at 8:30pm and the place was not too busy (probably weather). It's a pretty neat spot with a grand view of the city. We sat inside given the weather. Menu looks limited compared to what we saw online. Entree's looked just okay so we went with four appetizers for dinner - beet hummus, crunchwrap supreme, peach and arugula salad, and fried chicken Bao buns. All apps were pretty tasty - only diss is the bread for the hummus. The broad ends were too thick and uncooked (see the pics). Drinks were good - Mood Swing and a regular Hendricks gin.
