Located near Target, we celebrated a family member's birthday here with not one but TWO escape rooms. Surprisingly, photos are allowed, but I was too involved with trying to escape that I did not take any photos. Inside the rooms, there were clever clues to solve even one involving a BB gun to shoot targets to get clues when the target fell! Of course we had to try one of the hardest rooms, "Prison Break" which we almost didn't escape, but our host was great at helping us solve the puzzles. After our first game was over, our host offered a 20% discount on our next room which we took him up on. As it turns out, Groupons offers a discount on Monday - Thursday.....next time.

This was the first time I did an escape room! Booking the time slots were easy to do online or over the phone. It is $45/person, but if you're kama'aina, you get a little discount. Just ask, present your ID and they'll assist you with a refund. There are waivers to sign so I recommend to complete it beforehand on the website. If not, they have available tablets there to do them. We chose to do the most difficult room 9/10, Prison Break. We had 7 people in our group (max 8 for the room) and we split into 2 groups, for cell 1 and cell 2. Our room moderator was Joseph and he had awesome energy. He quickly gave us the rules so we could get started. For one whole hour, he was a great help, giving us hints when we needed it the most. I don't want to spoil anything for Prison Break, but you will need very good communication at first in the separate cells. When we get through the first room, we come together and solve the rest as a group. We successfully escaped with only 5 minutes remaining! I highly recommend to try it out. I had a blast. We will return to try the other rooms as well.

This escape room is located in Ala Moana Shopping Center. It's a great place to spend an hour challenging your brain during a game where you have to find clues and solve puzzles to escape a room. It's so much fun as an activity for a couple or small group. We tried the Timeliner escape room with four people. We liked the puzzles and the room design.

These guys are top notch! Made reservations & paid online. I had 4 minors planning to do the Train game on their own, signed & submitted waivers. Because each game can hold up to 8 players, there were 4 more spots open for their game. 2 adults reserved spots. When my kids went to play, due to the adults that had signed up they needed their own adult present for safety factors. I questioned it but appreciated it. They allowed me to attend the game without paying & to be there to observe. My kids enjoyed this one! Everyone worked well together & o my needed to ask the game master for one hint. Super cool game! Great staff! We'll be back to check out the newest Game Show game (can accommodate 14 people!)

My family and I celebrated a birthday doing The Great Big Game Show. The Escape Room Game expanded and now does a fun game show! We reserved a private room. I believe if you don't book a private room, you play with other players who sign up for the same time slot. It was a ton of fun! The game show host did a great job! I can't recall her name but she kept the energy high and made it lots of fun! The games we played were also entertaining! I would definitely go again! Highly recommend the great big game show!

If you never tried escape room game before then you are missing out. This location is inside Ala Moana shopping center, lots of parking. They have a lot of different games with different level of difficulty that you can choose from. Upon arrival, you need to sign a waiver. And the game host will lead you to the room and explain a few details and you can start playing the game. The game usually last one hour, there's a button you can press to get hints and you can get unlimited hints to help you finish the game we always try not to use the hints as much as possible. I must say the few games that I played at this place are pretty fun and somewhat difficult. It makes it pretty challenging but rewarding when you escape. I also believe if you have a larger group of people, it will help solve the game easier. They do have toilet but only one for male, one for female. When people finish the game, everybody standing in line to use the bathroom. One thing I don't like is the room is really dark, so hard to see and read, especially I have to wear a reading glasses. All and all, a very fun place for gathering and team building. Recommended.

So this was my first time at this location. It was so easy from the booking online to checking in. I highly recommend! We booked for a group of 9 but ended up with just 8 people. Because we paid in advance I was able to get a refund for the one person who couldn't make it. Also, kamaʻāina get a discount so it was taken of our total cost at check in. I didn't know what to expect but I assumed there would be several challenges and rooms to go through. No spoilers so I won't say how many rooms we had. Our group did The Heist which was really cool. The story is that we had to expose a fraud by getting into the office and finding the stolen goods and of course it had to be done in less than an hour. The group I came with is the youth group which I am an advisor for so this was an excellent communication and team building activity. Everyone was able to participate and one of the teens said it was neat to see how others in the group think and problem solve. I felt that each person's view was needed in order for us to complete the tasks. There are unlimited hints but we tried really hard not to ask for too many. My only disappointment was that there wasn't an official photo with your time that you could take (like a board to write the finish time). However I really loved that we could take photos during the game and after with the props! Our room monitor Sharanne was so gracious and took several photos for us. A few tips for your visit: It helps to have paper and a pen to jot down some of the things that you are trying to find. Take pictures! It was fun to be able to take photos during the game. Make sure everyone participates! Sharanne wrote down each of our highlights during the game and we got a "recap card" at the end with the individual contributions. So cool and a nice reminder of good works. All the teens enjoyed the game and want to come back. If you book another visit or purchase a gift card before you leave you can get a discount on the booking!

Fun place for kids AND adults!

They also said they had availability that day, so I figured, why not? The whole experience was super satisfying. Ever feel like breaking something at work but don't want to get fired? Break n Anger is the place to let that urge out safely and legally. Here's how it works: You get to choose 2 items from the top shelf and 5 items each from shelves 2, 3, and 4 -- so about 17 items total to smash. After signing the waivers, you suit up in a jumpsuit, gloves, and a helmet. They offer earplugs too, but I skipped those -- the sound of breaking stuff is half the fun. Honestly, the time flew by -- I went all in for 10 minutes and it felt like seconds. I probably should've paced myself, but I really wanted to let the rage out. No regrets though -- it was super fun, and I can totally see this being a great team-building activity. I'm definitely planning to go back and try the premium items next time!

All the props, masks, bows and arrows. There was two of them and they showed us how to play and officiated all the games. They were really nice. Pricing is $400 but for 3 hours but we had about 20 people show up who wanted to play so it was only $20 per person. Only 12 can play at a time which is 6x6. I feel 6 on 6 is good, you don't want more than that. The field can get pretty small with more people. The concept is pretty much like dodge ball but with arrows. She loves the idea of escape rooms, but panics when we're in them LOL! I scoured the internet for something we haven't done before and all the escape rooms were either too pricey, wouldn't explain how to escape when we inevitably didn't breakout, or didn't have private escape rooms. Then Google suggested Scaventours which in all my days of searching never appeared! Scaventours is on the ground floor of Marriot Waikiki. Opposite side of the hotel from the Valet. The side with the tour bus pickup. The sign says they're open daily from 9-7 I believe, but you can look up the games and book online. We booked our game morning of and all went well. There's no parking, so we parked at the Zoo like they suggested. We parked at the back half of the zoo (Mauka side) and just followed that road straight pass Denny's. That path lead us straight to the correct hotel entrance to find Scaventours easily. ALSO, the Zoo Parking wasn't taking debit cards and my husband only had a $10. He paid for 2 hours but the machine didn't give change so we got ripped. Be aware of that when parking there. After reading up on the games, I decided we would do Kanaloa's Curse. A scavenger hunt that stayed INSIDE the hotel with various puzzles fit for ages 6-11 even though some of them had me stumped. I appreciate that the game isn't timed and that there was an option to stay inside the hotel because I'm not trying to take my 7yo scavenger hunting on the streets of Waiks. It was super reasonably priced at $23 for my husband and I and $14 for my daughter. We were given the map and a clipboard of puzzles, complimentary pens and candy and we were off. The hunt took us through the ground floor of the hotel finding different things and solving puzzles. It took us just about an hour with my 7yo finding everything and doing every puzzle, so it was PERFECT for her!! At the end, we returned to the store, unlocked the treasure, she got some prizes, and we took photos with the mascot raccoon statue. She was immediately begging to do the rest of the hunts. Successful find both Scaventours and the actual scaventour!!!!

My company hired Treasure Hunts Hawaii (THH) for roughly a 2-hour treasure hunt. Based on Yelp…read morereviews, THH seemed like a good choice and a lot of the employees were looking forward to participating in the hunt. Keep in mind, the company I work at has a little less than 60 people coming to this activity held at a beach park. THH was pricey, so we had high expectations. I know, for me, I thought it would be a hunt filled with tough clues (the type that can really stump you), running around with a sense or urgency, different paths for the different groups, and worth the amount we spent. The day of the hunt came and everyone was super excited to see what we would end up doing. There were two people from THH that set up the area with clues and would give us instructions on the actual hunt. It may be due to my job, but I wish they gave us the instructions BEFORE the hunt to prepare and we could become familiar with the instructions without worrying about being behind other groups because we were busy reading the rules of the game. Anyway, I remember distinctly that we were told that groups were given different clues and, thus, different paths, since we had more than ten groups participating. There were three parts to the hunt - the actual treasure hunt, scavenger hunt, and trivia. The hunt was fun to do, but the hunt did not meet expectations and I felt that we could have done the hunt ourselves. The reasons for the low review: - all the groups had the same clues, so we had the same path. Read: it could have been follow the leader - one group figures out the path/clues and everyone else follows. - the clues weren't that difficult to decipher - one clue was wrong (quick math question - what is 3 to the power of 0...it's not 0) - the scavenger hunt could have been explained a bit more or to be consistent with applying the rules. For example, we were asked to bring a rainbow. Keep in mind, unless it is stated, it cannot be a picture or video. I found out that points were given for a picture of a rainbow. Overall, the one star is because the company's services were expensive and that set a level of expectation that they didn't meet.

My company recently used Treasure Hunts Hawaii to plan and coordinate a team building…read morescavenger/trasure hunt. There were appx 60 of us at Magic Island Beach Park. Two individuals from THH came to start the hunt. The hunt consisted of a trivia portion, scavenger hunt and the actual hunt. They were not the best communicators and many of the teams were unsure as how to proceed; it was kinda like here are the clues and here is the trivia sheet...go and do it. They suggested that a good strategy would be to split up.....I thought this was supposed to be team building. For the most part the trivia was pretty easy as you could use your phone, etc and seemed to just be a pointless time filler. The scavenger hunt was mediocre at best.. There were also loopholes ie you could just go and buy many of the items on the list...stickers/clothing items etc. The treasure hunt was also nothing special. Most of the clues/items were just spread out over a large distance. If it was in a smaller area all the teams would have probably finished in 10 minutes. Most of them involved you solving some type of basic riddle etc for a clue then walking to the next area. Overall, after reading the positive reviews on Yelp, myself, along with the many of the participants (we took a survey) were disappointed with the overall experience. Honestly, using google and some common sense most anyone could have done what THH did and for much less money...our fee came out to over $2,100 for 2 hours of 'fun'!!!!! -- that didn't even include the cost for prizes for the wining teams etc. all of which we had to provide ourselves. If you are looking for a good group/business activity I suggest you look elsewhere.
