The person who greeted us and gave us the instructions was very welcoming and enthusiastic. Booking online was easy. The website says that the game can be for up to 10 people. I don't really agree with that and was glad we were able to book for just 4. I feel like 6 people might still be comfortable - but 10 sounds like.. just a lot. In addition to the game being fun, parking was super easy with spots out front and a private lot in back. I hope we can go back and give the Secret Lab a whirl!

It did get pretty hot inside while running around, so be prepared to sweat a little. We could see that the AC was set on 69 but the temperature was 78 so the AC may have been having issues. They also had some industrial fans to help cool it down. They provide free lockers but you can't bring a water bottle with you in the quest area. This was an awesome group activity that requires problem-solving, teamwork, and physical activity. We only paid for 2 hours but could have definitely stayed longer. Highly recommend!

Then something unexpected startled him, and in an instant, that happy family moment--where I thought we had found a new activity we'd all love doing together--was over. He ran out shaking and genuinely scared. A few different employees immediately came out to check on him. They spoke to him so kindly, reassured him, and helped him find the courage to try again. He'd go back in... get scared... and run back out. This happened two or three times, and every single time someone gently came to check on him, making sure he was okay and trying to make it a little less scary. By that point, I felt defeated. I was ready to give up, sit in the lobby with him, and let the rest of my family finish without us. That's when Bethany stepped in. She took the time to really talk with him, and then brought him to our game guide, Landon. Together, they completely changed the experience. They brought him behind the scenes into the control room, showed him how everything worked, explained the noises that had scared him, let him see the cameras, answered every question he had, and made him feel completely comfortable. They didn't just distract him--they helped him understand, and suddenly the scary unknown became interesting. Then Landon made it even more special by letting my son help give our family clues from the control room. Instead of feeling left out, he became part of the adventure. He hasn't stopped talking about it since and is already asking when we can come back. Watching the kindness, patience, and empathy that Bethany and Landon showed a little boy they had just met honestly brought tears to my eyes. They didn't have to do any of this, but they chose to, and it turned what could have been a disappointing day into one of our favorite family memories. Thank you for giving my son confidence, making him feel safe, and showing such genuine kindness. And to the entire team--from the front desk to the game guides--every interaction was exceptional. Great variety of puzzles with a fun theme. Perfect for teams of 3-4. Puzzles were medium level difficulty. We also did Watson's Revenge which was full of clever puzzles, fun reveals and unique locks. Definitely have experienced players on your team as this one is pretty challenging. 4+ teammates is good for this one. Lastly, we did 13th Floor which was luckily not a scary room, just a slightly creepy theme. Really enjoyed the puzzles and riddles in this one as well as the interactive elements. 3-5 is good for this one. Puzzles are medium to hard difficulty. Rave reviews for the fun game master. The inventory/closeup system for the virtual/remote rooms were a bit tricky to juggle but allowed us to divide and conquer.

We came to do one, but the experience was pretty heavy for the group, and the great staff there let us change to a room that was better suited to our group, right on the fly! We ended up doing "King Arthur's Quest" and Sean, our gamemaster, did a great job at keeping us moving! A lot of fun and keep us occupied for an hour! We will definitely come back for other challenges! If you are thinking about coming, a word from the now-wise: pay heed to the challenge rating (PG, PG-13, etc.). And don't be afraid to ask questions about the challenge when you have your pre-meeting. If you are afraid of the dark - ASK! your gamemaster if the room is going to be dark. This seemed like more of a low-budget, amateur place compared to the others. We did 20,000 leagues and I was shocked when I walked into the room because it looked like a file room with a couple of wall decorations. You didn't get the feeling you were trapped miles under the sea. The puzzles were tedious (including having to do math and read a map with tiny print) and not intuitive. Some of the puzzles, such as the math puzzle had "run rules" that you needed to know (and could only find out by asking for a hint) in order to solve it. There were way too many combination lock/open the box puzzles. Other places have things like chessboards where you need to put the pieces in the right place, books that you need to pull out in the right order, etc. This room had only a couple of non-lock puzzles. It was also just a single room, so no secret doors or passages. The staffer was in the room with us, which was odd and took away from the experience. This is definitely not a room I would do with kids because there's no way they would be able to solve 95% of the puzzles. Also not a place I would do as my first escape room, as it may turn you off from doing one again.

Review of "The Grimm Escape (Virtual Puzzle Game)"…read more I can't rate this puzzle game experience on the same scale I would have pre-COVID19 and won't comment specifically on the value for experience given how critical it is to support local businesses. Given the circumstances, I think The Grimm Escape and other virtual puzzle games are a great pivot for Puzzle Break and I'm grateful that they are able to provide virtual experiences at a time when so many of us could use a momentary escape from reality. Pros: -Up to 12 players with a minimum of 3 players (note that this doesn't mean 12 computers with multiple players on each computer--price is $25 per player) -Unlimited hints -Really nice and helpful staff (thanks, Eytan!)  -I like the PB virtual puzzle concept more than the other avenue some escape game companies are going (remotely directing a gamemaster through an actual escape room) because hopefully in the future we'll be able to do escape rooms ourselves again and I wouldn't want to miss out on the experience Cons: -It is noted as a 90 minute experience, but this is only a 60 minute timed puzzle experience. The rest of the time seems to be budgeted for explanation/prep.  -My group has done a number of escape rooms, so it may have affected our experience, but many of the initial puzzles seemed easy while the last few were much more complex/confusing, with no mid-range puzzles to adjust to the escalation. The ability to get hints/confirm guesses became very helpful for us toward the end! I look forward to trying PB's usual in-person experience in the future!
