I am a regular at this establishment and have been going for years. It's nostalgic going to Chez Vous with my children when this was a spot of mine as a kid. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. Chez Vous offer skating lessons on Wednesday and Saturdays. There are various sessions throughout the day and additional sessions during school vacations (schedules can be found online.) The consession stand had a upgrade with food over the years and even offer Uber eats. Chez Vous offer birthday parties for an afforable price. Had a great time here! They have a small parking lot behind the rink. Snack bar has a small drink menu of wine, beer, and wine coolers for $7-9. (Poured into plastic or styrofoam cups so you can't break them). Great music while you skate - I'm very much a beginner but still had a lot of fun! Extremely terrible first impression. If you aren't skating you still have to pay the full fee for admission- which is insane. No outside food or drink allowed- we were yelled at on entrance for this from the worker- she was so rude about it. They did allow us to keep what we brought in their fridge, which bumped up my 0.5 star to 1. No TP in the women's bathroom, when I mentioned it to the staff they seemed annoyed. There was water all over the floor, which did eventually get cleaned up. read more

I have been coming to Chez Vous since I was a kid and now I get to take my kids here. We had a great time as usual so here are the details. We came here for my daughter's last year in town before leaving the state. I bought a groupon for 5 people for half the cost so that's always amazing. The place was pretty empty which was great due to the fact that I have small children and don't want them to be run over. My only complaint is that there is no AC in the this place and it gets VERY hot while skating. I have about 9 people total in my party and they all had a great time. I will be getting my youngest child lessons here. We will definitely be back. read more

Chez Vous has been a local landmark in Dorchester for generations, and it's as much fun now as it ever was. The location is definitely off the beaten path, but it is totally worth the trip, especially if you're looking for something fun on a rainy day. It's on the small side as roller rinks go, and it's definitely not glizty, but don't let that put you off. The staff is super friendly, the music is great, and on weekend nights, the place is filled with families, couples, and serious skaters alike. This is a local place, and it has a great, old-school urban neighborhood vibe to it. People know one-another here, and the feeling of community is palpable. They don't have a parking lot, so you'll have to find a spot on the street, but I have never had to circle more than about one time before finding one. Admission is cheap, and they have a modest snack bar with the kind of fare you expect from a roller rink (hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, etc). Rentals are inexpensive, and the staff is very helpful if you have any issues at all. I can't recommend this place enough. If you want some truly local Boston flavor, and a fun, inexpensive activity that is well off the beaten path, Chez Vous is it. read more

I haven't been to Chez Vous since I was a teenager, we're talking over 20 years. We took my 7 year old daughter who is just learning to skate. We had a great time! But we will purchase her some skates of her own, because theirs are really beat up.The food and the music was great. Sean was very helpful when I locked my wallet in the locker before I could buy some wine! *Thank you Shawn* My only complaint would be the security at the front door. I understand the need, but to make little kids walk through the detector and investigate their beeps is just a little unnerving. Good experience overall. This is a hidden gem in Dorchester. The staff is welcoming and helpful even when it gets crowded. It's $10 to skate and the price includes rentals. They only have skates, no roller blades and the rental skates are really beat up. If you can bring your own skates it's great. The place is a little dated but so fun. There's a bounce house in the middle if the rink. The rink is small and has bars to hold onto for beginners. The DJ is great. The food isn't bad. It can take a while to get it, they don't have a lot of staff, but they make things to order so the food isn't sitting around. Pizza is thin crust and tasty. It's an affordable afternoon of fun especially compared to trampoline parks and bowling at Kings. It's also a fun place to host a birthday party. The kids get skates, bounce house tickets and the birthday kid gets to catch money in the money machine...so fun to watch! read more

This place was so fun! We went for an adult birthday party and were able to bring our own cake and presents and had a table reserved. The rink is on the smaller size but still very fun! The manager who was on duty, the dj and staff on the Saturday night we were there were so nice and accommodating that it really made the experience that much better. Music was a good mix of current hip hop and great way to put the energy up. The only down side is that there were not any size 7 or 8 skates and a lot of us wore too big or small skates that were sort of problematic to be able to skate for a long period of time. The second we walked in their hospitality was incredible. Shoutout to the assistant manager there who catered to my group the entire night and gave me a friendly hug as we were heading out. I'm not a review writer, but had to give this place a nod after a great experience today. As I was walking up with 5 girls in tow, the gentleman outside greeted us and suggested we take advantage of their Groupon that admits 5 for skating (including rental skates) for $29. Inside is nothing fancy and the skates are on the older side but the music is great, the lighting fun and I was able to sit and read while my girls skated and had a great time. I was meeting up with several friends at Chez Vous, but I was the first one to arrive. It's always a bit daunting coming in to a crowded place when none of your friends are there, but Jonathan the manager came over and made me feel very welcome. He was super friendly. When my friends showed up and it was time for us to grab some food, drinks and skates, the woman behind the counter was also very helpful and friendly. We had a great time roller skating and the prices were very reasonable. If you're looking for a place to roller skate (or play Ms. Pac Man), it's a fun spot. read more

As someone who hadn't skated in a while, I was somewhat nervous about going here last night. After a quick pat-down (no gum, pens, knives, guns, etc allowed) that was minimally annoying, I laced up my skates an headed onto the rink. All I have to say is "Hot Damn" some of these people are good. There were however enough people of marginal ability that I found a group to keep pace with (read: really slow). Overall the place has a good feel, though, per some recommendations, I went on a 21+ night, so I cannot vouch for any other time. Some advice to fellow non-skaters: Take a few friends with you! You'll find the experience of falling much more enjoyable when you know the people laughing at you. Also, there are a number of older guys that skate really well and are more than willing to show a newbie the basics, just ask! For more seasoned skaters, they occasionally clear the floor for "backwards skate", "couples skate", and a couple special interludes each lasting 5-10 mins. I rather liked this, because it gave e a chance to people watch and rest my aching calves. By the end of the night, I didnt want to leave (had to, 21+ skate is sunday night and I'm thankfully still employed).I recommend the place to anyone that loves to skate/fall and doesn't mind the commute and hip hop music. On a side note, the place seems to have shed much of the colorful band of characters that earned the place its "reputation" and has a more community feel. This is a great place for kids! We were there on a Saturday afternoon, and there were a lot of kids' birthday parties going on. It seems like that's pretty typical for a Saturday, and they had a lot of activities centered around the birthday kids. The music was pretty loud, but we had so much fun. I will say that the rental skates are very old and seemed to run pretty wide, so if you have narrow feet like I do, you might have trouble with them. They also sell pizza and candy, and the prices are pretty reasonable. read more

I almost died here last night. I'm no pro roller skater, but I can hold my own, and so can most of my friends. What lured us here was the fact that this is an old-school good old-fashioned roller rink, with those skates that have FOUR wheels at opposing CORNERS, instead of those stupid roller blades with their in-line gravity-inducing ways. Besides, it was Tia's birthday celebration. So there we were, 7 girls and one strapping young gentleman (me), stepping out of the cold and into... a metal detector? Oh right. This is Dorchester. My bad. The ladies put the majority of their stuff back into the trunk of Mattrell, the Mazda 3 Zipcar that I brought along. We weren't allowed to bring in ANYTHING. No pens, no gum, no cigarettes, no lighters, no bobby pins, and if any of the ladies were wearing wire bras it would set off the metal detector and a thorough search would be initiated by a very daunting (but rather nice) woman. I got through Boston Logan security easier than I got through this place. And I'm Arab. The skates are smooth, the lockers work properly (but you need 4 quarters to use them), and the rink itself is a decent size in the shape of a zero. (Not to be confused with an "O.") The part in the middle is where some skaters either practice tricks, or practice skating. The "snack bar" is dirty and old, but there are some vending machines that dispense soft drinks. I was relieved to see that along with the typical Pepsi, Sprite, and root beer options, there was no button for "Glock." The kids who come here are hella good. They are awesome. They whiz around that rink at light speed doing all sorts of tricks in time to the music (spun by a live DJ) and I was sure that any air circulation in the place was caused by their collective rotation around the rink. They are fast, balanced, and know what they're doing. Now, this is the part where I almost died. Tia took an unfortunate spill and ended up on the floor - right in front of a stampede of skaters hurling along at God only knows what speed. I knelt down to help her up, and looked up to see twenty-something skaters suddenly five feet away from me. I must have looked like a deer in headlights. I blinked once. They were already past me, deftly and perfectly avoiding us. I could swear that I smelled the hot rubber of one of their skates as one guy ACTUALLY JUMPED OVER ME. Suddenly I was very scared to keep skating. The more we made our way around, the more I realized that these people actually had it in for us. I distinctly noticed a few of them in particular who would skate right past me - and by right past me, I mean just barely brushing my shoulder - doing some sort of trick that was designed to either freak me out or make me lose balance. Not only that, but I saw a kid lose balance and grab onto Tia's ass to "recover." Now, when you trip and find yourself falling, I understand that you might flail around and grab onto anything to steady yourself, and that thing might be - oh, perhaps someone's shoulder. This kid did not grab onto her shoulder. Or her arm. He grabbed onto her ASS. With BOTH hands. PALM SIDE. I was peacin' before you know it. The reason I give this place a low rating is because it is very uninviting, from the security shakedown to the skating experience. As a beginner skater, I was already in slight mental anguish at the possibility of breaking my neck - the fact that my friends and I were harassed did not help at all. Add to it that it's difficult to get to without a car, and the $10 just isn't worth it. By the way, 15 minutes after we left, about 20 cops in uniform stormed the place and dragged out some "unruly youths" in handcuffs. And this was Kids' Night! Glad I got my ass outta there when I did, and I'm not going back without kevlar and one of those jousting poles like in American Gladiator. read more

Chez Vous has its roots in the past, with more than 70 years as the best roller rink in the area behind it, but it's moving into the future with programs in conjunction with local families and schools to help keep kids on roller skates instead of out on the street. Their glossy floor is a dream for skaters of all ages. On weekend afternoons, local kids enjoy the Vous while Sunday night makes room for adult night featuring some of the most brilliantly skilled jam skaters you'll ever see, right here in Boston. Mirrors on the walls, red carpet columns and a massive soundsystem make Chez Vous a stylish, fun hidden gem. We're putting together a huge roller disco party with a core purpose of making sure that Boston hangs on to a place for people of all ages, genders and backgrounds to enjoy great music and roller skating. I can't say enough good things about Chez Vous. I visited yesterday for the first time and wondered why I've been traveling to rinks all over metro Boston all this time. Although I try to skate at least once a week, I decided to skip the Thursday night adult skate at Skateland in up in Bradford because the crowd can be a little aggressive and I heard from a girl who had been inappropriately grabbed a few times at a recent Thursday night skate. I'd heard of Chez Vous before and convinced a friend to go with me. As soon as I walked in, the employees were incredibly nice and waved hello. There wasn't a crowd - 10 people, tops, at any given time - but the atmosphere is fun. Yes, there are pillars in the middle of the floor, but the center section of the floor is much wider than other rinks. There's much more skating surface - one of the best I've ever skated on, regardless of needing refinishing - and plenty of space for both experienced and non-experienced skaters. I was actually pretty surprised after reading the Yelp comment below about the surface having dips and cracks and such... aside from being a little loved and needing a new finish for appearance sake, it was completely smooth. Much better than the floor at Skateland (which is dirty and often marks up my wheels) and Saugus (which is too slippery and worn). Inside, there is a small concession stand (slushies! fries!), some arcade games and a pool table, and some old-fashioned benches for you to put on your skates or hang out. The whole place has this awesome 70's groove feeling to it, and I can honestly say it was one of the most fun times I've had at a skating rink in metro Boston. It's a little love-worn, but if you're honestly worried about peeling paint to make your skating experience enjoyable, then feel free to stay at one of the other rinks. If you're upset about a metal detector, then you aren't facing reality. The neighborhood might be not-so-great, but that has nothing to do with the business. As we left, the employees invited us to come back on another night and waved goodbye as we walked out - even the DJ, even the concessions staff! I can't wait to go back again. read more

Sweetie and I went to Valentine Slow Jam adult skate night at Chez Vous and it was pretty darn awesome. It was $10 per Valentine Couple or per single, so we lucked out on that count. The music was awesome and there were tons of neighborhood regulars roller-disco-dancing to the quality tunes. It was pretty impressive. As the night wore on, younger (faster) folks started showing up, but as it was 18+, there were no kamikaze knee-highs to trip over or be accidentally clothes-lined by. I fell once, banana peel on the sidewalk style, which has left me a little sore in the rear today...but a bunch of people stopped to help me up and to make sure that I hadn't tripped over anything (like a stray piece of gravel) so that no one else would meet the same fate. I had rental skates which were a wee bit rough on my feet (no padding left) but they were still rolling along just fine. Overall, the experience has left me hankering for more...and wanting to get a pair of skates to practice my moves in private before going back. read more

This place is a fun time, but if you go, expect a lot of teenagers acting like they are adults. I went with a bunch of friends of mine, and little 14 yr old girls were trying to spit game to my 19 yr old guy friend...a little fast, I would think. The security guard stopped that right quick. Even if you can't skate, it is fun to watch the really amazing skaters speed around the rink. I really enjoyed this place, came with a group of girlfriends and used a Groupon so it came down to $5 a piece. I didn't use all of the 5 admissions tickets, but what's awesome is that I can come in another day and use the one admission I have left over. If you don't know how to skate all that well, you're better off going in the early evening since there's a lot of kids so you won't be as embarrassed about your novice skills (or lack thereof). Also, beware of the lockers! If you stick something in one of the lockers don't take anything out until the last minute because then it won't let you lock it a second time and you'll have to pay again. Second tip: if you don't feel like buying a glow stick once they turn the lights off just wait about 15 minutes. They will eventually turn the lights on and you'll be able to skate again. read more

Lovely. I just got back from the Sunday night adult night at Chez Vous and it was lovely. There are handles against the rink walls which are useful for those that use the "I'll use this stationary object to stop" kind of stopping. I also found it useful for my bleak attempt at moving backwards. The music was fun, there was a DJ. The skaters ranged from those just happy to be standing up in skates to people doing figure skating spins and dancing arm and arm. There was room in the middle to dance or just practice certain things. Some people brought their own skates some rented and everyone, the movers, the shakers and the fallers, appeared to be enjoying themselves For those of you super concerned they check your belongings for gum, guns and gummy bears (that last one may be a lie). Better to be patted down than be involved in an incident, right? The security was nice and pleasant, we discussed tattoos and traded smiles. I'll be sure to go again. My friend and I hit up Flames after our fun. That was the cherry on our Sunday Sundae. Also, there was a kindly lady who asked that we sign the mailing list and we talked about food and skating.
