This place is so much fun! I love supporting a family-owned business, and they put so much great work into making it fun and unique. They are also so welcoming and friendly. The rooms are detailed and true to their themes, and the puzzles were all interesting. Plus there were some cool effects and items that worked in ways you wouldn't even imagine until you start figuring out the puzzle. It was definitely challenging, but not impossible and moved at a good pace, and we received helpful clues at exactly all the right times. A very reasonable price for a great afternoon! Bonus points because selfies and photos are encouraged (outside of the games themselves)! Pros: -In addition to 3 clues that you can request at any time from the staff who are watching you play the game, there are "nudges" given at the discretion of the game master that can point you in the right direction, should you choose to use them (you can also opt out of these at the beginning) -"No touching" signs indicate if areas of the room are not part of the game and/or are dangerous to explore (like an outlet) -Nicely designed rooms Cons: -In one of the rooms, there are some exposed locks that have the "no touching" signs on it. We were confused because we thought we still had to open those locks. It would be helpful for the game master to state during the intro that if locks have a "no touching" sign on it, it means they are not part of the game. -Street parking can be challenging in downtown Worcester depending on the time of day -Would be helpful to have a clock in every room (some rooms have multiple room) so you don't have to go back and forth to see the time and the clues I'd say Live Action Escapes is comparable to Escape Games Worcester. Both are pretty solid, though I think I slightly prefer Breakout Games (Woburn/Marlborough) because they have a bit more plot woven throughout and some cool additions (rooms where you are blindfolded, handcuffed, etc.). Still, definitely worth trying if you like escape games! read more

First time I have been to an escape the room. Would definitely recommend others to try. Went there as a group of 3 (would recommend booking a full room since the experience is likely to be more fun with friends instead of strangers). We attempted the Janus room and solved it with only 3 minutes to spare! The flight simulator in the end was surprisingly well made and definitely added to the experience. The hostess was welcoming. The elevator going into the place was a bit sketchy but I guess that goes with the vibe of an escape the room. read more

Our family had a great time at this escape room venue. We selected The Starship Space Rescue room. Actually this escape involves multiple rooms, navigation, laser rifles, and aliens. Lighting is subdued, which might be an issue for young children, or sight impaired visitors. We very much liked the progressive format of this escape room(s), and how the design includes a guide who helps over the intercom when we were having too much difficulty finding an answer or clue. We did make it to the bridge, but the captain seemed to have a few issues successfully communicating with the crew! The outside of the building and lobby could use some TLC, that said, we thought the escape room was nicely done. It's located next to Citizens Wine Bar/People's Kitchen (we strongly recommend NOT dining there). The escape room offers a really fun hour to spend with family or friends. We hope to return to a different room at Live Action Escapes in Worcester. read more

We started off by having a little trouble finding the entrance. We were looking for the door on the wrong part of the building when we came across a woman who was standing outside one of the doors, smoking a cigarette and she said "what are you guys looking for?". So we explained we were looking for the escape games entrance and she replied very snarkishly "well, I'll let you in this way, but our entrance is around the front. Next time go that way". She acted as if we ruined her precious moment with her cigarette (its 2020, are people still smoking cigarettes?). So she let us in reluctantly and led us to the entrance. This place has no bathroom in it which is a problem for someone like me who has Crohn's Disease. I asked if there was a bathroom and Sabrina gave me a long excuse as to why I couldn't use it because it was far away and that I should "just hold it" until we are about to start the game and she can lead us to a bathroom. Okay, sure. I'll just wait. No problem. The next group of people comes in after us and asks where the bathroom is and Sabrina immediately gives them directions to it. Wait....what??? I thought it was too inconvenient to tell me where the bathroom is, but the group of young girls that comes in is an exception? Now I'm pretty upset because since we've arrived, we've dealt with two bad attitude employees for no reason. We chose to do The Protocol which is in a whole separate building down the street a little ways. We are lead to the separate building where I'm allowed to have about 15 seconds to use the bathroom finally after waiting for a half an hour. We head into the "briefing room" before the game and get the low down on the game and the rules. Now we get to start the game. The game is not intricate. Yes, it makes you think as most good escape games do. But it's basically just a serious of combination locks and key locks. Not much skill involved. If you've been to Escape Games Worcester, you would be very disappointed at this place. Escape Games Worcester is filled with different types of gadgets and is very thoughtful. This place, not so much. We escaped with a few minutes left on the clock. Will we be back? Probably. Only because we've already done every game at Escape Games Worcester, otherwise, we would definite be going there instead. I knocked one star off due to the unprofessionalism and rudeness of both employees we encountered. And I knocked another star off due to the basic nature of the room, simply having to unlock things with keys and combos over and over again. read more

I went here as a group for a team-building event. We had 13 players - and so we broke up into teams and both did "the challenge". Each team was given an identical room and setup and 45 minutes. We competed against each other - who could complete it first?? I have done other puzzle rooms before at other facilities so I thought it would be hard to surprise me, but I was pretty surprised when our hands got chained to the wall right away!! So, you only have one arm's span to work with and really have to rely on each other. The room is on the easier side if you get all the components of the clue properly (we missed a tiny clue initially that cost us) and we completed it (but about 10 minutes after the other team). read more

I have done 3 of their rooms so far. The most recent one was Protocol. This was the most interactive. We had a large group with us. I would have like a smaller group. The space is small so it gets very congested. This was my favorite so far. Cold case was my next favorite. Really forced team building and loved it. The down side to this room is that you must depend and wait on your team. The study was a decent story but just lacked the enthusiasm the other 2 rooms brought. The staff is friendly and helpful. The clues were perfect. The space is clean and inviting. Prices are high but comparable to other escape rooms. read more

My daughter (19) and I did the Quest for Golden Keys in Millbury today - it was great time! Although it was over 90 today (unusual), we walked all over downtown, reading maps, solving riddles and doing games for points. We'd never been to Millbury downtown, so what a great way to bring people to your town. Can't wait till it comes to ours! We met so many friendly people and staff was fun. Had a minor hiccup with one of the clues / station, but eventually we all figured it out. It took us about 2.5 hours to complete. Anytime with my daughter out of house and off the phone, getting exercise?..Priceless! read more

CCI is like no game I've experienced. And I've played dozens of escape rooms across multiple countries. The first second in the game I felt like I'm in a bone collector/saw movie. But without the horror and risk of life and limb. The linear puzzles were designed for team-building. The weakest link burns the most time on the clock. It compels all the players to work together for a successful escape. If you think all escape games are the same, you need to go experience first hand this unique room. I'm glad I did. read more

Really great experience for our family of 4 but would easily be fun with up to 6 or 7 ppl. Clean facilities, very friendly staff and NO lines! Room was not overly difficult but challenging. Game master helpful in a non/obtrusive way. Finished within the hour. Really fun times. Highly recommend for families. Will def go back again!! read more

My husband and I just completed Live Action Escape's Starship Rescue room as the fourth stop on a tour of escape rooms in the area. We have completed 25-30 rooms in the past 3 years, and are constantly looking for something novel to wow us. Starship had the potential to do this, since my husband is a huge space nerd and the flight simulator at the end could have been a huge differentiator for the experience. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to overcome the shortcomings of this particular venue. The venue is above a cigar bar, so the whole facility reeks of smoke. After a short ride in a fishy smelling elevator, we were delivered to by far the hottest escape room we've ever been in - easily 85 degrees or warmer. When we asked the staff about it, we were told that we were the first booking of the day, so the AC hadn't started to work yet. That said, let's get to the pros and cons of the actual room: Pros: interesting concept to have the simulator be the finishing move for the experience. Some unique prop/puzzle elements. Everything relatively on theme. Cons: for lack of a better explanation, Live Action would benefit from a little TLC. There were actual typos on instructions in the room, props that had been duct taped back together, etc. There was also a very frustrating amount of the same type of lock, forcing us to try in multiple different places and waste time. The biggest con though was that there should have been some sort of instructional video or brief intro to the simulator itself in addition to the cheesy intro video. Not everyone is good at absorbing written instructional content and it is impossible to finish without understanding essentially a huge game system. Overall: we would give it a 3/5. If you're a space/sci fi nerd, you'll get a kick out of some of the references in the room, and the bridge is pretty cool. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to come here, though, and if you do - be prepared for the hot, smelly space. Our team found it difficult to get past that and focus on the problems at hand. Edit: apparently the use of the word "back" in "duct taped back together" suggests to this owner that I in some way find it acceptable to have duct taped props in the room period. While their explanation that they have duct taped soft props because people can hurt themselves with hard ones make sense, A) they have several other hard props you could hit each other with if that's the case, and B) I'm sure there are other soft props out there that aren't covered in sharpie and duct tape. Totally appreciate the conversation and the fact that the manager took time to respond and correspond, but don't want our offline conversation misconstrued. read more

We did "The Protocol" and loved it ! It was fun, challenging, and deff not predictable.. 100% recommend if you're looking for an exciting group activity that won't take all day or break the bank. The rooms are well thought out with good storylines, "game masters" are awesome and don't make it too easy.. Just try it once and you'll be addicted. Did a group of nine, (18 to 45 years-old) First time for all of us. My only regret was not trying this years ago. Just a GREAT time. We did the "Protocol Room." The puzzles start off a bit easy, but get much tougher and there's plenty of them. Everyone in the group had their moment to shine, which brought a euphoric feeling every time someone found a clue. None of us could shut up once we left the building. The staff was awesome. They explained everything well and made the experience flawless. Booked the other game (Guess it's a Sci-Fi adventure?) for next weekend once we all went to dinner and discussed the whole experience. Do it. You won't be sorry. read more

I won't lie to you i was absolutely terrified to do this escape room but we had an amazing time. Amanda is absolutely the best human being on this earth. The protocol was so hard and we finished in 5 seconds. It really forces you to use your brain while leaving it fun and exciting. Absolutely will go again. Played CCI and The Study. The study has fantastic production design with both music and immersive decorations. I was really impressed with CCI. Most escape rooms have several puzzles happening at once with players working on different aspects of the game, communicating with what they found, and coming together at the end. CCI's linear design allows the entire team to work together one puzzle at a time. They make decisions together and solve it together. After playing so many different escape rooms across the country, CCI is a new and different experience! Excited to play CCI 2! read more

We've played three games here -- The Study has probably been our favorite. Some good puzzles and the owners are so passionate about the industry. We did CCI parts 1 and 2 in the same day...a little frustrating for us because a couple concepts used are very different from what you'd use in other escape rooms, but can't fault them for doing something new!
