My family and I had a fantastic experience here! Our host was awesome and super funny with all of the stories that he had to share. He was so friendly and explained the rules/story perfectly. The puzzles and locks were all ordinary to what you would see at other escape rooms. Some of the locks were hard to reset and it took a lot of time fumbling around with it before we could get the thing opened. We played the Museum and LOST. It was a really tricky room and honestly there was no way we could've gotten out even with all the hints in the world to help us, haha! Had a great time! The entrance requires a bit of navigation but wasn't hard to find. There's a diner parking lot further down the street for those seeking free parking (AKA me). We did the "Museum" escape room and it was really interesting. There was famous art replicas hung on the wall that had todo with the puzzle. We visited Escape Game Worcester and played their "Fallout" room. THE STORY It is the year 1977. In front of us stood a fallout shelter, which is the last few remaining standing buildings after US was attacked in a Nuclear war. We had no choice but to explore what was inside... HIT THE BULLSEYE -The entryway to the room was a great mood setter for what was about to come. We always enjoy that extra touch. -Once we entered, the dim light and set design immediately captured our attention. Some props used were from that era and that really pulled us more into the story. -The game flow was great. Since this wasn't a linear room, we were able to explore separately and still come together for the important pieces of the puzzles later. -A "centerpiece" of the room became our favorite challenge to solve. It created that last moment of "urgency" we all yearn for in an escape room and gave us that final satisfied feeling when we completed the task. MISSED THE MARK -There were a few places that we thought we were going to be "surprised" with more than meets the eye, but that could also just be our selfish desire for wanting more. -One puzzle was hard to visualize for us but we were still able to be solve it using deduction. TAKE A SHOT? If you love a little exploration, discovery, and excitement, you'll want to try this room out. We were able to escape with just the two of us, but it's best recommended to go with at least 3 people. We can't wait to journey back for their other adventures. read more

They also let you know if you are potentially going to break something by going too far off track (oops!) -Screen in room displays time remaining and how many clues you have left -"No touching" signs indicate if areas of the room are not part of the game and/or are dangerous to explore (like an outlet) -Button next to the door will allow you to exit, should you need to do so in an emergency -Solution provided at the end, which was helpful to avoid being haunted by what you might have missed Cons: -We've now failed 2 of the rooms here in large part because of puzzles that had to be solved JUST so in order to work. In one room there were cards that needed to be arranged so meticulously that even when the staff member showed us the solution, she spent easily 2-3 minutes trying to get the pieces to match up enough to properly scan. In another room there were wires that didn't fully match up/stay together even when you had the correct solution. -Would be helpful to have a clock in every room (some rooms have multiple room) so you don't have to go back and forth to see the time and the clues -Little pricy at $27+/person for 1 hour of game time, but on par with competitors -- Overall, I'm torn! On the one hand, Escape Games Worcester is hands down the most intricately designed escape game franchise we've been to, but on the other, the finicky puzzles that have now caused us to fail multiple rooms are a huge con. CSI and Conspiracy were fun, but Dreamscape was really hard and some of the puzzles we "solved" I definitely could not replicate. I also didn't really enjoy Museum (too much going on). read more

My family tries to incorporate Escape rooms into every trip that we take. On this amazing jaunt to the Boston area we happened upon the Escape Game Worcester, and we loved every minute of it. We selected the CSI room and knew from the moment the first door opened that we were in for something special. The nonlinear style of this room make sure that everyone in our group was able to contribute without getting in anyone else's way. Just got home from doing the Fallout room with 5 friends. We failed unfortunately. We got hung up on a certain obstacle for 15+ mins which was a vital part of the room. After we lost, the host came in and tried the obstacle herself and also got hung up on it. It took her a good 2 or 3 minutes to get it to work. I, and a few others in the group, believe the obstacle wasn't properly set up, or didn't properly work as it should have. If this didn't happen, we would've escaped with 10-15 mins left over. I'd give it one star due to the fact we lost most likely because of a faulty obstacle, but I'll give it 2 stars because the room is set up very nicely. You can tell a lot of work went into setting up the room and making it look like a real Fallout Shelter. Had we lost due to our own lack of skill, I would've given it 5 stars but that's not how I see it. What can you do I guess? read more

I admit I was a bit unenthused when I heard we were going to Escape Games for a company outing. I was skeptical and figured that the puzzles and/or trivia involved would be enjoyed by some and not by others. I was wrong. It was great! We were sixteen people so we broke into three groups, and each group took a different room (essentially, three different puzzles). You have one hour to unlock/solve/open everything in the room and escape. I have seen pictures of other "escape the room" type games that look really lame. This is not the case at Escape Games on Grove St. We played the room called Fallout. It's heavily themed and really feels like a nuclear fallout shelter. I don't want to give away too many details, but I have to admit-- it's seriously fun. This is a great small group activity or team building activity. Came here on a double date with our friends. We lost. But it was so cool!!! We did Fallout. This was our first one - EVER! Escape Rooms definitely involve team work and efficiency. I didn't think the puzzles were extremely hard but because we were unfamiliar with the whole concept, we took a lot of time. We all want to go again and try the different rooms. We were told by our host that the rooms change all the time and every room has a different type of puzzle so it never gets boring! As far as the venue itself, it's right next to The Fix on Grove St. There's plenty of off street parking and they're open until 8:30, I think? Don't quote me. Just wanted to write down some thoughts. I am an avid Puzzle Room / Escape Games player. Just in the past year I have completed roughly 12 rooms at 6 locations. Our party visited Escape Games to complete two rooms. Puzzle Rooms are becoming more and more popular and many rooms are starting to feel the stress or toll of being part of a popular subculture. Bookings for the day can be huge and this means a lot of staff stuck in repetitive motions. Newer rooms have a general sense of warmth and enthusiasm. People are vested in you adding to their business and being there for the experience. Our staff felt nonchalant and not incredibly invested in having us there. It felt like the carnival where you are there for a great experience and the evil carnie running the ride could really not care whether you have a great time or a bad one. The biggest absence of our experience was the lack of a debrief. No comments on group dynamics, what went well, and common struggles with past players. It's quite an experience so a debrief can be really valuable. Our debrief felt rushed and just a prelude to getting us into line for a photo. I may sound jaded, but I have the opportunity to compare this to other rooms and experiences. Pros - Well designed rooms with decent story and a good sense of accomplishment or challenge. This is a perfect first room. It shows people the ropes and does a good job of demo'ing Puzzle Room Ideas. Cons - Rooms felt puzzle lite. There weren't as many things to partake in. If you get stuck there are not other activities to group up on or move onto the next thing. The rooms felt very linear. Overall customer relations felt tired and forced. Seek out Escape Games if you are a new escape games player. There is enough here to test the waters and see if this experience is something you want to pursue. Seasoned players may want to feed their puzzle fire and stop in like us, but I honestly have to say this was not the best room we've been in. I hesitate to give a moderate review, because I want to grow the hobby, but if these are going to pop up left and right we need to honor the ones that rise to the top. I plan on writing reviews on other rooms I've been to, so please try to find those to get my suggestions for rooms I think should continually be visited and supported. I'll be back when the next rooms open and hope that Escape Games becomes a place I can frequent. read more

We did the CSI room and it was all right. The rooms were really well built and I liked the storyline, but a couple of the puzzles were just a bit too easy to find workarounds for (as in, there were parts we didn't actually solve, we just brute-forced our way into answers) and no one in our group (me and a couple friends, and two strangers) even realized when we won the game. Still, there were some good puzzles and it's a nice place. I'd probably rate this higher if it had been our first escape room. Worth checking out at least once. read more

This was our second time trying an escape game and had a blast. 4 in our group plus 2 in another group were grouped together in the CSI room. It's a shame we can't play with just our 4 people unless we pay the extra $50 and rent out the room. It's completely understandable though, so I won't take away from the overall score. I have a strong feeling we would have escaped if the other 2 people from a separate party had not been with our group of 4, but it is what it is! Overall, we had a very good time. The room was intricate. It really made you think and that alone makes it worth it to me. The only issue I had was that $26.50 is a bit steep compared to the other rooms we have played. Game played: Museum Team size: 10 I brought my entire family as a Christmas present to my family and everyone had a blast. Our group's age range was from 4 yrs old to 60 yrs old and there was enough puzzles for everyone to have fun for the entire time. I plan to go again to play other games with other groups of friends and would recommend this to anyone trying to plan a family outing or a team building exercise for co-workers. First time coming here, went with a group of friends for a birthday celebration. There was 6 of us girls, we did the Museum room. I have done an escape room before so I was excited to go to a different place and experience a different theme. It's located on the lower level of the building but it was easy to find. It was interesting they took our phones in a box and locked them away for the entire experience. Once in the room you are allowed 3 clues if you get stuck. The room was very cool with unique puzzles I hadn't experienced before, even with 6 people I feel everyone got a chance to solve a clue or riddle, it was definitely a team effort. I would definitely come back and try one of the other rooms. The only thing we weren't pleased with was a prop flashlight didn't seem to work consistently , we mentioned it to the guy who showed us into the room but he didn't seem too concerned about it. read more

I give it two stars based on the particular puzzle we played: Museum. My main objection and what almost ruined the experience for us was that the room was SO dark. Part of the mystery of the room is the use of flashlights but there were not enough flashlights for everyone and a couple of the flashlights lacked sufficient battery power. By the time the hour was up my husband and I had a headache from trying to read the very tiny print on the clues while holding the clue cards up to the very limited lighting. It really took away from the experience. Overall the puzzle was great, the location is great, and we had a fun time for all ages in our group (the youngest was 8 and the oldest was 73). But when you're paying $200 for a one hour experience, it was really frustrating to struggle to read the clues. We have done one other escape the room with regular lighting and it was much more fun. read more

I have never done anything like this before. I wasn't sure what to expect. I brought my daughter and her 2 friends for my daughter's birthday present ( 16 yr olds) to do the Fallout Room. I reserved the room for just us. Upon entering, we were greeted immediately by staff and told it would be just few minutes for them to reset the room. We were escorted to the fallout room and given instructions. Once inside, they explained what could be touched and what couldn't. We finished the room with only 9 minutes to spare! So. Much. Fun! Our party consisted of two adults and four children which meant having to reserve all of the spots in the room. This was actually a blessing as then we were not competing with others and were able to communicate and work together without interference. It is definitely challenging but the ability to get three clues helps move you along. We did the Fallout room, which is one of the easier rooms, but again still challenging. Game played: Fallout (11/25/16) Team size: 5 (I would recommend a team size of 3-5, as one task would be difficult with only 2 and 6 is definitely doable, but might be too many to have everyone remain involved/occupied) This was our second time at Escape Games, and had a great time playing their new Fallout room. WHAT WE LOVED - The room design was amazing. "Fallout" creates an environment that feels a world away from the door you stepped through to enter it. From the walls to the props, everything feels like it belongs in a bomb shelter in a post-apocalyptic world. This made for a really fun environment. - Some pretty cool "wow" moments thanks to great use of tech - Varied puzzles/tasks that required both mental and physical (nothing strenuous) challenges. - The Gamemaster gave us a couple extra minutes to solve the final puzzle. We were glad she did. The final puzzle is pretty awesome. - The most exciting end to an escape room we have experienced (out of 15ish rooms) WHAT WE DIDN'T (love) - There seemed to be elements in the room that were trying to tell a story, but didn't make any sense. It wasn't until after we finished the room did I read the description of the room on Escape Game's website, which made these story-based elements of the room make a little more sense. This story (on the website) should probably be included in the briefing before the game begins to give the story-based elements some meaning during the game. (note: it's possible that the Gamemaster shortened the briefing because our group didn't arrive 15 minutes before our scheduled time as suggested on the website). - The Gamemaster's briefing set the scene for a post-apocalyptic world in which poison gas is being sucked into the shelter through the intake fans. We were told by the Gamemaster that our first task was to shut off the intake fans to protect us from the poison gas and our second task was to find a way out of the fallout shelter (directly INTO the poison gas) for.... reasons? Doesn't make any sense, but maybe I'm missing something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. - There was one piece of equipment that sucked a pretty large amount of time, as you basically had to do about 10 seconds of work (really, it felt like a chore) to get about 1-1.5 seconds of use out of it (spoiler: you need more than 1-1.5 seconds of use out of this). But it's possible my brain was on the wrong frequency and there was an element of user-error here. TIPS - Don't wear nice clothes or light colors... Escape Games was pretty accurate with what you would expect the general cleanliness of a fallout shelter to be. But if you do happen to wear nice clothes, resist the urge to try on any clothes you may find. - Read the description of the room online before you come, as it informs the story-based elements within the room (not covered in the briefing). SUMMARY: Amazing room design with some really cool tech that is rare to find outside of major markets like Boston or NYC. Their brief/debrief could be improved, but the room itself is a 5-star room and one that I would recommend both escape room noobies and those that have a few notches in their belt. read more

Museum Room used one of the most annoying devices related to the post-office and sadly even though the instructions were provided, we wasted too much time attempting to get it. Brilliant decoys some that threw me off big time. Went for the first time back in October and did the CSI room. It was an ideal date night with the hubs. We immediately booked another room with a handful of friends. The plans grew so big we needed two rooms and booked fallout and conspiracy theory. Fall out was ideal for the group of 6 that we had. 3 couples working together to solve the scene and escape the room. We had a blast and we made it out with 6 seconds to spare! We booked again before we left for the museum 12/11 for a night out with my aunt, uncle sister and her boyfriend. Will post separately about that one! Highly recommend Escape games Worcester. I went to Escape Games with a group of friends this past Friday and had an absolute blast. Spending the night working together and using your minds to find clues and decode them was challenging but the rewarding feeling of escaping the CSI room was awesome. The room was very well thought out with use of many different elements for clue retrieval. We had much more fun than the typical night out in Worcester. Took my groomsmen out this past weekend as part of my bachelor party and we had a blast. It was the first time doing an escape room for all of us (party of 7), and it was a very fun challenge.
