Hands down, Mass Escape is a top notch escape experience. Ice Station Zero marks the 10th escape game I've played, and the 6th Escape Location over several companies. I really cannot say enough about this location but I'll try to hit some highlights. First, the owners are amazing - They clearly live and breath escape games and I have NEVER seen a game master commit to the scenario this much. Not only were they committed to their scenario, the time keeping and clue giving mechanisms were the most on theme I've ever seen. Secondly, this location had been open about 4 days when we played and was the MOST polished room I've been in. Of the escapes I've played, this is the 4th that had been open less than a week. I was shocked at how smooth everything was. If they owners had told us they'd been open for a year I still would have been impressed. The Thirdly, the room was INCREDIBLE. I put it in the top 3 rooms for production value, top 1 for commitment to theme, and top 1 for clues. The clues were just subtle enough that it felt rewarding to decipher them, but also gave great rewards. The room was semi-linear so our group of 5 was all running around doing different stuff and rarely did we feel bottlenecked. Finally, they had SIDE OBJECTIVES! I have not yet been in a room with side objectives and it was so refreshing. We finished the main objective with over 10 minutes left but we were captivated by trying to complete all the side objectives and didn't end up finishing until less than 2 minutes left. If you think you know escape games, Mass Escape will expand what you think Escape games can be and if you've never done an escape room, Mass Escape will get you hooked. I've been to several room escapes across 3 major cities. Mass Escape is among the best I've ever played, and may be my personal favorite. It starts with the owners. They clearly have a passion for room escapes, and it shines through in the way they run theirs. They exude enthusiasm through the entire experience. They commit to the scenario and make it feel more immersive. The same holds true for the room itself. Although the attention to detail is not the best I have ever seen, it is pretty close. The props and pieces are well-chosen and sometimes quite impressive. The puzzles are also generally well-designed. There were few bottlenecks, and there was usually plenty for everyone to work on. The puzzles were also quite clever, and overall it provided a satisfying level of challenge. One innovation that I haven't seen elsewhere is a scoring system. Rather than just have one objective - escape the room as quickly as possible - this game provides bonus objectives too. I found this to be a very satisfying addition. Overall I highly recommend Mass Escape, and eagerly look forward to their next addition. read more

One word to describe our experience....WOW!!!!! We had a party of 6 and were looking for a team building activity. Have always heard of escape rooms and wanted to give it a try but noticed they are typically found in big cities such as Providence or Boston. Was happy to see they had a local one right in the heart of downtown New Bedford. The only day that worked for all of us was a Wednesday night but noticed on their website that they are typically closed on Wednesday's. I thought I'd take a chance and call them to see if they were willing to open for us and they did!! It was everything and more than what we expected. Challenging at times but you can ask for hints to help you along. You can really tell the owners have put a lot of time and effort into making this a great experience for their guests. My family and I did the Eckstein Experiment. We had no idea what to expect, but it was so much fun! There were 5 of us and we all had to work together to figure things out. At the end, we didn't escape in time, but we made it to the final room. Apparently, that is a success since this is one of the most difficult rooms according to our host. By the way, she was so wonderful and helped us by giving us clues when we were completely clueless on where to go or look. It was such a fun experience for our family and I would highly recommend going with your family! Our kids are all in college, but we have taken them in high school and in middle school and they enjoyed doing the other rooms back then as well. Mass Escape is an escape room establishment that really gets it. They have amazing puzzles and great story lines that make the rooms truly immersive. My group has done about 25 rooms at this point and we absolutely love Mass Escape. The game masters make your experience fun and give clues in interesting ways when needed. The theatrics that they show are some of the best that we have seen. The puzzles are interesting, fun and they really make you think. The decor in the rooms is truly impressive. We have done all of the rooms and can't wait to go back and do more. They are always kind and accommodating. The rooms are appropriate for new and advanced escapers. A completely entertaining, thought-provoking, family-bonding experience! After participating in a team-building session at Arctic Station Zero, the other Mass Escape room, I thought 44 Winter Wood would make a great Christmas present for the entire family. Nailed it! Or rather, the staff at Mass Escape nailed it. The room was creepy, an authentic haunted house. The game master stayed in character and dialed us up on an old desktop radio on a few occasions when we were getting stuck. The puzzle was clever, interactive, and punctuated by really cool props. We solved the mystery despite having three team members with no escape room experience. Can't wait for the next games to be built! read more

Everyone should definitely check this place out! I really had an amazing time. One part that I really liked when I went was the staff. Not only were they incredibly nice, but they genuinely want you to succeed. While they let you work it out by yourselves, if you're ever stuck they know exactly what to say to help you figure out where to go next, which is an important aspect that you definitely won't find everywhere else. While it was quite challenging, the level of difficulty only makes the satisfaction upon completion that much better. Above all, it is incredibly fun! We went to Mass Escape for my son's 13th birthday with his three friends, and my 8-year-old. We did the Winterwood Lane room, and it was awesome! The spooky level was perfect to keep us on our toes, but not send the little guy screaming from the room. This was a first escape room experience for most of us, and they all want to come back! The staff was very friendly and let the kids all go back in the room to figure out stuff we missed. a few weekends ago me and my family did 44 winterwood lane to celebrate my birthday and it was so much fun!! the rooms are so detailed and challenging but not too hard. we didn't make it out, only 1 part left! i felt so smart solving the riddles. gregory was also a very fun interactive part of the room. he really added an extra element of mystery that was very much needed. honestly had such a fun time and joked and laughed with my family the whole night after as well. definitely will come again!! read more

Everyone on our team was pleasantly surprised at how fun and immersive the experience was. We had an opportunity to send 15 team members that were split into 3 groups. We ran all three rooms at the same time and everyone at Mass Escape handled everything flawlessly. We are definitely going to return with more teams in the future. As a group that has completed over 20 escape rooms across the US and abroad, 44 Winter Wood Lane is easily one of the best. The puzzles were intuitive and flowed incredibly well, the atmosphere was tense and the props were very well made. Our group would constantly exclaim how cool a solution to a puzzle was or how well a story element was introduced. This was one of the best escape rooms I have tried. We were greeted by an employee when we walked in and he was awesome. Just through reading us the rules about this room you could see the passion that mass escapes has for escape rooms. The room was paced perfectly with a perfect amount of challenges. Ophelia left an impression! This was my first experience in an escape room and I couldn't have had a better time. The room experience from beginning to end couldn't have been more immersive. We and our grandchildren (9 and 12) had a great time. It was just scary enough to make it exciting for them, but not so scary that they wanted to get out. The riddles we had to solve were fun and both we and the kids helped solve them. We got the right hints when we were stuck and managed to complete the escape just in time. My teens and I did the 44 Winterwood Lane room yesterday, and it was outstanding. Of the half-dozen escape rooms we've done together, it was by far the best. This was a great experience. The staff were good humored and helpful, funny, and warm. They didn't hesitate to help provide a full experience for a member of our party who is Deaf. We have been back 3 times and have always had an absolute blast! And on top of it all, it's a great price for escape rooms. We love Mass Escape! read more
