We did the pirate room on a Monday night at 6:30pm (last slot). The initial explanation was helpful and the set up was good. We were struggling a bit in the beginning, but we're able to escape thankfully. My one complaint and reasoning for four stars opposeed to five is because I felt as if they gave us too many unprompted hints. It was almost as if within a couple minutes of us trying something incorrectly, they'd tell us something that would put us on the right track, which in some cases, fine, but we ended up finishing with 20 minutes to spare and I think had they given us more time on our own to figure it out, we would have. So we kind of felt as if may e they just wanted us to hurry up so they could go home since we were the last time slot. read more

The folks at Upside Down are friendly, welcoming, and eager to provide a fun experience for their customers. My group played "Like, Totally the '80s to the Max" and found it to be a fun challenge. Details like an Atari system, a Cabbage Patch Kid, and an Etch-a-Sketch brought me back to my childhood. Without giving anything away, our biggest takeaway from the challenge was that it is OK to ask for help. read more

A decent experience during a rainy afternoon while on the cape. The facility is new, and seemed pretty clean. The furry pillows in the waiting room were...interesting. We did the pirate room. This wasn't the first escape room I've visited, but it was easier than others. The introduction to the game was given by one of the staff members while in the waiting room. She was distracted by another staff member a few time during her 2 minute intro. The entire scene was in one room, and it was fairly straightforward. We finished within 40 minutes. At the end, the staff took our photo while holding some themed props. In summary, an ok way to spend some indoor time, but not terribly challenging, and keep expectations modest. read more

I've been to many escape rooms. My wife and I love them. We were very excited to try this one. We brought two people who had never done this before - one 50th birthday and one Mother's Day celebration. We were just under 15 minutes late to arrive which was my mistake. I misunderstood the timing. I took the blame. We went into the room with a 45 minute limit and did not escape. No big deal until we realized that the room was not booked for the following time slot. I approached staff and asked why they did not allow us to finish the full hour since there was no one waiting to play. I was told that it is their policy to run the games back to back and they would not add time. I left with a bad taste in my mouth. Will I be back? Probably not. Could I have been convinced to come back? Maybe. How about "It is our policy to run the games back to back but we understand the confusion. Here is a pass for one free player in your next game." Or "We are sorry we couldn't add time. This is why (insert explanation here). Please come back to play again. We will try to make the timing clearer in our communication. Good luck. read more

Let me start by saying that we've been to Riddle several times before (Pirates, Candy, 80's) and on this visit we tried The Secret of Dragon's Spire which is Riddle's newest room. Each time we've visited previously, the staff had been awesome and this time was no different. Our room was ready when we arrived and we jumped right in excited to experience the new effects in a Harry Potter / Dungeons and Dragons atmosphere. Annie was our game master and she did an incredible job from the very start, beckoning to me to turn the lights off after I had found the switch. Her first suggestion to us as our benevolent witch, sent shivers. "Do you really wish to ruin the ambiance of the dungeon?" I quickly flipped the switch off. Game on! Our family had a ball and will absolutely return with friends in tow! Book a visit, Say 'hi' to Annie and have a blast! read more

Dudes, this place is awesome! I've been here twice so far and it was great both times. First time we failed, second time we rocked the socks off that escape room! They have different levels of difficulty so there's a room for every skill level. So far we tried the pirate room and vampire room. We have 4 more to test out our wits on. I would highly recommend coming here! Also, the staff kicks butt and makes the experience truly enjoyable. They have fantastic personalities and are great be to be stuck in a room with for an hour. Too hard! We had a big group that was split between Paris and Homecoming. We've done several escape rooms before, and escaped all of them. Both rooms were too hard -- most of the puzzles we solved were only after getting clues. The facility was good, and the staff was very nice, responsive, accommodating. read more

I can't say enough GREAT things about Riddle. I live in Mashpee & often look for fun things to do with a group of friends & this is the perfect outing. Riddle has 6 different themed escape rooms & each offers a different degree of difficulty. We have done three as of this post: Candy, Vampire, & 80's. We are working our way to the harder rooms: Pirates, Paris, & Homeland (the last two are supposed to be the most difficult....check Riddles website for escape rates per room). I like all of them for different reasons, but I recommend starting with the Candy themed room if you've never done this type of thing before. It's totally doable & completely lighted. Special thanks to our AWESOME game masters, Graham (80's) & Rob (Nosferatu Vampire). We had a great time solving the Pirate Room at Riddle Cape Cod! I've done puzzle rooms in other places, and Riddle was by far the best. They had many options for themes and levels of difficulty. The staff were super helpful and friendly both before and during the puzzle room. The puzzles were challenging yet straightforward. I'd recommend this to anyone visiting Mashpee. read more

Ok so I still had fun at riddle and I've been before and love escape rooms but our room wasn't set up properly and this is a major turn off for me. I did Paris and a crucial piece was missing which was frustrating as it prevented my group from getting out due to technical errors. Edit: I just did Nosferatu and it was really cool. There are some things that need to be fixed and tweaked but for the most part I enjoyed this room. read more

Took my 12 and 14 year olds last week during our week on the Cape after enough beach/sightseeing time. It was super fun - I'd done an escape room once with business colleagues so had an idea of what to expect but the kids had been wanting to for awhile so we jumped at the chance. We all really enjoyed it - the kids in particular were really challenged but it's fun to see their gears grinding trying to figure things out. Definitely needed the clues offered as a few parts were beyond what we could have figured out on our own but hey, that's what clues are for. What awful costumer service. We bought tickets to go on black Friday 2 hours before midnight only to find out they were 40% off the next day! Tried to reason with them on the phone but they were super rude and obnoxious about it. I understand that we just missed the deal, but there's a way to deal with it and a way not to. They also claimed that it couldn't be used on that day, even though nowhere did it say that and I was able to get to checkout for the same date/time as our appointment with the deal. The actual experience was OK if you like that sort of thing, but dealing with them just put such a sour taste in my mouth. Make sure you don't buy tickets online - get them right before you plan to go. No refunds and they will NOT work with you (trust me!). read more
