Absolutely the worst owner in any business. Like others have stated, the owner is very rude, unhelpful and condescending. My company had to order about 50 engraved name boards. I wasn't too concerned about the price as my company was paying. I was quoted, "minimum $40, per board." Which would have totaled $2,000 plus. However, the owner was such a prick I didn't want to give him any business. Good thing he was a jerk because we ended up saving $1,250 on our order!!! Yes that's right, I saved $1,250 by going elsewhere and got exactly what I wanted. The Engraving Store is a rip off. Bring your money elsewhere. This jerk doesn't want your business. read more

Recently, Tim engraved a "Time Capsule" for my husband to leave in the field after 43 years of Technical Service to a local company. Since his job isn't necessarily with the public, he was able to leave a metal plaque plate in an underground vault for a later technician to find... hopefully many, many years from now. Cute little shop. I took a gift here to have something small engraved on it, it was a last minute thing. I think.. it's a family owned business. So the man who actually does the engraving should lower his voice a little bit when a customer asks questions when the young girl in the front goes to ask him, I can hear his "no's" or whatever other questions I had. I get it, but dude, chill on your tone (I could hear him and it IS aggressive. It made me feel uncomfortable as if I were an idiot for asking if they could engrave it in a specific way) If it wasn't so late minute.. I would've bounced and found a different place. They wanted $100 to engrave a logo on to a yeti mug and wanted to charge $150 to vector my image and wanted me to figure out how to vector it because it was too much work for them. Then proceeds to tell me it probably won't come out good anyways then quoted a 24 hour turnaround time. I left and went to engraving pros in la Mesa they did it for $39 and that includes vectoring my image that they wanted to charge $150 for. read more

I got halfway thru my simple request to engrave initials on inherited cufflinks so I could pass them along when owner asked, do you really want m to do this for you? That puzzled me but I said yes and proceeded to finish up the order. I asked him about the size of the lettering and he said, no size. And went on to say, whatever the computer says will fit on this cufflink. When that "answer" was insufficient for me, he squashed up the order form, turned away from me and said, Have a nice day, thick with sarcasm. RUDEST RETAIL PERSON EVER! (Meanwhile, wearing a cross around his neck!). I thought the negative yelp reviews were exaggerated -- they were not. I cannot recommend this store, no matter how challenging it is to find an engraver that does not send out! read more

They are hard to get ahold of by phone, but I've got to give them 5 stars. I dropped off a hydroflask around 3 pm to have a name engraved on it. I was impressed by their font options, & though they said it would be done in 24 hours, they called me an hour later to let me know it was already done. I tried to make it by closing but got stuck in traffic, showed up a few minutes late, & they were already closed. I figured I'd just go back the next day to get it, but instead, I saw the owner, who opened the store back up to give it to me. They are so nice, do a great job, & their prices are reasonable. So I came here instead of driving to grossmont center for engraving pros business because I just knew I would have to deal with the 8east traffic.. so this was much more closer to me. I loved the whole mom pop little shop vibe because I love supporting these type of businesses so I Gave them a shot. Just wanted a name engraved on a plaque. Not so hard but I get it could be time consuming. Engraving pros at grossmont center told me that they could have it done in an hour when I contacted them at 3:00 pm and I wish I had done that. I come here and daisy (one of the owners I am guessing) said it will be done tomorrow. Kind of a bummer but it's not in my hands. So I call the next day (around 5?) and she said it's not ready... I was just thinking to myself like, hey some of us have stuff can't be waiting around for something to be engraved that was told by you a day ago it would be finished by today. Not cool. Shouldn't have given my money until I picked up the item. Then the next day I called around 12 and they said I have to come pick it up much later. (Around 5) I said we'll finally it's ready!!!!!!! Like why did I spend $21 for you to have this thing done in 2 days. ???? When it could have been done in one hour at grossmont center. Not cool guys. Not trying to hurt anyone's business but please keep your word. Now I can't come back because I'm afraid it'll be the same thing with the time situation. read more

Yes the engraving is overpriced. Yes the $1.75 credit card fee is the oldest trick in the book to have you pay cash so they can just tear up that made up bill of sale and pocket the cash without taxes. Ok. No problem. But when I have to stand for 12 minutes making direct eye contact with you and you choose to ignore me and keep on having a conversation with someone is extremely rude. The blonde woman with the glasses has an absolutely disgusting way about her. Will look right at you while asking the other person to show her more pictures of a recent wedding. The 12 minute wait finally ended after the person showing the wedding pictures was all talked out and had better things to do. A truly horrible experience. Grow up. read more

My work came here to have a trophy made for a summer challenge. They were able to engrave the trophy with out brand and motto within a few hours with no notice! I had worked with Daisy a few years back on two different engraving projects that turned out really nicely so naturally I wanted to give them my repeat business. I spoke with her husband Tim on the phone about my project and he seemed really cool. He told me to come in with my piece and we could look at all the options. I came in and he and his other employee, whose name I didn't catch were in such a hurry they didn't want anything to do with my project. I wanted to get an engraving done with some special characters and rather than take the few minutes of all of our time to go back to the computer and look at the special characters, Tim told me he was too busy with too many projects, he didn't have the time and the only way he could do all this was to have me print something out, send it into him which he then would recreate into a proof and we would go back and forth. He created this whole process over something so simple that would have taken probably 3 minutes to nip in the bud right then and there. He wasn't willing to sit down with me and go over what I wanted for my super simple engraving project. I told him that if he wasn't willing to make time for me as a customer, I would be taking my business elsewhere and so I left. I called around and found an awesome place called Village Gifts in La Jolla and spoke to Scott on the phone. He was incredibly nice and accommodating and told me to come down there to take a look at my needs for my engraving project. I went down there and he spent the time with me on the computer looking at the special characters and fonts and really took his time to make sure I was totally satisfied with my engraving. He was a pleasure to work with and gave me the customer service every customer deserves when spending money in someones business establishment, unlike what I experienced at the Engraving Store. (HIMYM shoutout) But then again just go get a label maker! But most people will need something engraved around once or twice a year. Remember those days? But I digress. I had yellow wooden nunchakus I wanted to engrave for my friend's son's 1st birthday. Yes his name is Bruce Le! and Yes that's how I roll. Best gift ever right? Right?! I wasn't sure if this was even possible but Daizy at the Engraving Store was very helpful and gave great ideas on how to ensure the finished product would look amazing. And she was right! They came out looking Bad to the @$$! So now I visit Daizy yearly to engrave our fantasy football league trophy which always come out incredible.
