My first interaction with Hugh was early on a Sunday morning when I messaged him through Yelp to see if he could take care of my engraving same-day. His response was prompt and he invited me to stop my his shop later in the morning. After I found his shop in the back of a gem and mineral shop, I met Hugh and he was very friendly and welcoming. We discussed what I wanted engraved and he had some good ideas on style and fonts. He did the engraving right there on the spot! I got to watch and he showed me how his machine works. I appreciate how he let me double check spellings and style before he engraved the medals to ensure there were no mistakes. Needed last minute engraving service for a graduation gift. Called right before they closed Friday and spoke with Hugh on the phone who said to stop by Saturday morning when they opened and he would look at my item that needed engraving. Went in on Saturday and Hugh brought us to the engraving table and helped me figure out the layout and design of what I wanted engraved and literally within 15-20 minutes I was walking out with an awesome engraved anime inspired graduation headband. I've never had anything engraved before so I'm not sure if the cost was fair but considering it was last minute, walk in, and practically done before my eyes, I'd say it was worth it. Plus the engraving itself was clean and super cool to watch. I'll definitely bring any future engraving projects back to Hugh at HD laser. read more

Hugh met me at his shop and helped me create a wonderful anniversary gift for my husband. For reasons Hugh couldn't understand, the glass I brought in did not engrave easily, but he worked diligently to find a way, and he succeeded. Even though, he was not happy with the engraving, so he grabbed a plate and engraved that, so I could add it to my gift. Hugh was great to chat with and very knowledgeable about his craft. The work done was perfect and wish I could upload photos but this was a gift for a client of mine that wishes to remain private. The detail and quickness of his Fiber laser is phenomenal to say the least! Other shops didn't have this type of tech and only offered C02 laser which unfortunately required them to paint a chemical on-top of the object prior to blasting. Our organization has used this business for years, which makes this situation even more frustrating. I am absolutely blown away by the exceptional service and products provided by Hugh at his small business. From the moment I walked in with a last-minute request for a personalized gift, he went above and beyond to ensure that not only was I satisfied, but that the end result was exceptional. I had previously purchased a personalized product on Etsy that was not up to my expectations and would not be resolved in time. I was in a bit of a panic, but Hugh was able to ease my worries. He took the time to listen to my request when I brought in an image for him to use as a guide. Despite my tight deadline, he was able to etch the glass on the spot and made sure to get my approval on the design before proceeding. What impressed me the most was when Hugh brought me to his engraver and allowed me to review the software code before he continued with the etching. I've been having issues with my son constantly losing his Hydro Flask. Instead of just putting stickers of his favorite cartoon characters on it again, we decided to try something different -- engraving his name directly on the bottle. I'm disappointed with the lack of professionalism I experienced. I initially reached out on Monday and spoke with Hugh regarding the details of a job I needed completed. We agreed to meet on Wednesday at noon. However, leading up to our scheduled meeting, I attempted to contact him via text, phone, and email, but received no response. When I arrived on Wednesday, I was informed by his colleague that Hugh was not working that day and is only available on Mondays and Tuesdays--contradicting the arrangement we had made. This lack of communication and follow-through was both inconvenient and unprofessional. I hope this issue can be addressed to prevent similar situations in the future. read more

I really wanted to make a sign for the designer I assist's studio as an end of year gift.
