I've been going to 8ball for 2 years and heard they changed ownership, all women ownership. i was so excited about it. last night my boyfriend got kicked out of the bar for "stumbling"... it's a bar. we got into a whole thing with the security guards and they kicked me out too. weird ass people. i thought it would be better being owner by women but it's worse. i've never had a problem with the staff at all and i miss the old staff. read more

One of those places were only locals seem to get good treatment, as we try to make conversation with the bartender and it just felt weird and hostile, so we just had a couple drinks and left, nice block though, with a good energetic crowd walking about. Fun Dive Bar in Cotati, only been there once after my daughters graduation and they were very accommodating to the graduates and families. Great pours on the mixed drinks and have a wide variety to suite almost every age group that patronizes this place. Funky decor is fun and they have an outdoor area that people can enjoy their tobacco products. I would go back, but at my age stay away during the hours of the Cotati Crawl. read more

Decent bar to see friends and play pool. Extremely RUDE bar tender (women with tats/ dark hair)! Bartender is aggressive and dismissive. Only serves the people she likes first, & is not friendly towards paying patrons. Had a few altercations with her on multiple occasions as she refused to serve my friends (as most of us are people of color). We waited at the bar for 3-5 mins, as others (mostly white college students) walked up & got their drink with no issues. Would rate this place a solid 3 but due to the service and attitude of the bar tender I rate it a solid 1 as attitude creates the atmosphere. Trade Winds is more of the vibe. read more

I was waiting in line for 5 minutes before being shushed away by the trashy bartender who can't do her job. After waiting through the huge crowd for about 10 minutes I gave up and went to mingle with friends, who also wanted drinks, so I went back to the bar hoping to finally get some service and was greeted with the bartender calling security on me for "moving around too much" when I was just trying to get their attention because I'd been ignored for 10 minutes now. Worst ducking place. This is where people come to die and feel special coming in. I left a review some time ago based on their racism. This time I leave it based on my dumb ass coming back again and waiting too ducking long for a drink. So I was a little hesitant to write this review but after some thinking, it should be addressed and read by someone. I went to the Eight Ball about 2 weeks ago out with a buddy of mine and were wanting to kill some time on a Thursday night around 8pm and have a drink/play some pool. I told my buddy this is a good spot to play pool since I've been to this bar before and have had drinks here in the past. When we walk into the bar the bartender, a big huskier dude, with a blonde/redish unkept beard asked for our ID's, cool no problem. He looks at mine a little longer than usual and then gives it back asking for another form of Identification. I didnt have anything else on me besides my debt card. I give him my card and then hands them back to me and says I cant accept this. When I ask why, he states "The photo on my ID doesnt look right." ( MIND YOU, I have the new California REAL ID. ) I asked if there was someone else here that can verify this because I'm well over 21. He said No and stated, "I cant take that chance." The rest of the night there were no issues with my ID being accepted since I've been to these bars before in the past and people recognized who I was. I do understand it was the night of the Cotati crawl and there are a lot of college students who use fake ID's but my ID is far from a fake ID. To the owner or someone who works here, This is just informational to you since you have someone working there who is turning down the wrong people who are not under 21 and turning down business for your bar on a busy night. Honestly this bar plays the better music on Thursday nights, but the brunette bartender gives off more of a I hate my job and the people that come here vibe. So when u can't get a drink it's not even that fun. I'm not sure if it's because The crowd is so much younger than her or what but there are other older bartenders at neighboring bars that you won't get this feeling from. read more

The young energy contributes to the fun and it is entertaining to watch the cougars sneak up on their prey. In addition to the occasional pride of cougars, there seems to be a small OLDER swingers crowd. After being approached two times on two separate occasions, I shrieked like a monkey and scampered off to find the barrel of monkeys I came with. This is the one place that I choose to drink during the day instead of at night because the service is completely different. Morning/Day: Fantastic adorable staff and all regulars. Very accepting and welcoming feel. LOVE their bloody marys! Secret ingredient celery salt on the rim and it really makes the difference. Night: The one thing that puts me off right away is someone yelling ID's right when you walk in. I know I look young and I always have it in my hand when I walk in anyways, but having someone consistently yell ID is just not welcoming. I live in a college town therefore I carry my ID on me always. It really just puts me off because even after seeing that I am over 21 they attitude doesn't change the rest of the night. The only reason and I mean the only reason this place gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because they don't do tabs or take credit cards. Other than that, the owner is great and they have a wonderful appreciation for the military. The other thing of note here, is the cleanliness. The place is emmaculate. We have been going to the 8 Ball for years, but had occasion to go for a Celebration of Life for a dear friend. The 8 Ball were welcome hosts and this was the perfect place to celebrate a great guy, the place he hung out! The 8 Ball pours an honest drink, had a patio, pool tables and just a good place to enjoy a drink. many times we stop here at the beginning or end of an evening, a bit loud later, but always a nice way to start or end a 'date' night. I personally could have done without the truck driver language from the 'locals' but that's me, it would not stop me from going there. Hands down THE best bar in Cotati. They have great bartenders (Shawn is the best) and always a fun crowd!!! They put on the wildest golf tourney every year as well as a few corn hole tourneys!!!! The drinks are strong. There's three pool tables. Karaoke on Tuesdays. and on the weekends, you can find the the Cotati Hotties and all the local celebrities there!!
