Lovely spa in the Edgewater Hotel. I tried the CBD pedicure which was absolutely fantastic. I came in, was shown around and given a blueberry lemonade which was absolutely refreshing. The pedicure was behind a curtain in their waiting room, so at times could get a little loud, which was the only downside. The nail polish they used was amazing, and lasted for over a month! If you're staying at the hotel, definitely treat yourself. read more

I am really disappointed in the customer service we received. We booked pedicures a month in advance for a mom's weekend away, both of us coming from out of town. Received a phone call 25 minutes prior to our appointment stating they could only accommodate one of the pedicure reservations, and we could cancel or split them to be several hours apart. Had an amazing time with one of my good friends today. Loved Spring I wanted to give her a big hug and chat after our session. I definitely could make this a routine thing. The massage table were wonderful and warm, the robes were big and comfy, lockers easy to operate. We even returned later in the afternoon to use the relaxation pool. The gratuity is 20% for everything added when you checkout. Although this is standard, 20% on a 30 minute 270 hydrafacial is way less than the gratuity for excellent 50 minute masseuse. As a customer you have no agency to allocate the 20%. They DO NOT alert you to this policy in any confirmation emails or your itineraries. The treatments were good. The locker room is too small and the pool was filled with families from the hotel. The snacks they have are gross. read more

One of the worst manicures I have had in Madison. Not only was the cost double of other places, but the service was just terrible. After filing my nails the nail tech did not even bother to brush the nail dust off and just painted over the same dust. The final result was a shoddy, half assed and lumpy gel manicure. Truly horrible for the exorbitant price. The nail tech didn't push back or trim my cuticles and cut me in multiple places while filing my nails. Hated it. Myself and my friend went to get a couples massage. They never asked us if we wanted the menthol smelling lotion put on us, what if we were allergic? We were never told to bring our bathing suits for after the massage in the hot tub. It has been over two months and after numerous washes the bedding still wreaks of the lotion smell. I have had a couple of services at The Edgewater Spa so far, and both blew me out of the water! The atmosphere is cool and calming and immediately inviting, and all of the staff are sweet and passionate about what they do--and its obvious! The first service was a deep-tissue massage, with Alisha. She is so good at what she does! I have pretty bad lower back pain, so she pinpointed the painful parts and even talked me through what kind of stretches to do to improve that area. The last service I had was a facial by Sarah T. WOWZA. I had the signature facial, and it was an out of body experience! Sarah was perfectly professional and it was WAY MORE than just a facial--legs, feet, hands, shoulders, arms, back, neck scalp...it was amazing. I left the Spa floating on a cloud. Oh Edgewater Spa, you are so wonderful! I was given a gift card for the Edgewater Spa (or anything Edgewater, I chose to use it at the spa anyway) a while back. After much deliberation over what treatment(s) to use it for, I finally decided on a whole body massage. I love a good massage so I called and made my appointment. The day of, I arrived about 15 minutes early and was shown to the waiting relaxation area. This area was indeed set up nicely, but honestly I don't think the long couch I was seated on was all that comfy. It wasn't bad by any means, but there is room for improvement. That was a very minor detail, though. Next, I was greeted by the woman who would be doing my massage and escorted into the room. There was a locker for me to place my things. The lighting was dim and it smelled wonderful. Once the massage was underway I was in heaven! Pure heaven I tell you. I've had my fair share of massages before, each of them just fine.. But this was not just fine. This was amazing. So amazing that I was literally drooling when she finished. If that's not a state of relaxation I don't know what is! If you get the chance, I definitely recommend checking out the spa here, as well as the rest of what the Edgewater Hotel has to offer! read more

This review is for a couple's massage at the Edgewater Spa. This was the third couple's massage I've done, and was similarly priced to previous massages. Unlike the last two massages (that were at two other locations) we were asked to change into robes in locker rooms downstairs instead of being able to undress in the massage room. After getting changed and leaving the locker room we wandered around for a few minutes because we were never told where to go and no one came to get us. Eventually we found our way to the waiting room. And this leads to the first major issue: it was was cold. The hallways were cold, the waiting room was cold, and the massage room was cold. The massage itself wasn't great either. The weak heater of the massage table was not warm enough to cancel out the cold of the room. The massage oil felt like it kept drying out almost immediately. We also paid extra for "Hand and Food Moisturizer" but in the massage room we were asked whether we wanted the moisturizer on our hands OR our feet, which made the cost not worth it. The moisturizer also seemed to dry out immediately. Afterwards we had to go back to the locker rooms to shower since there was no attached shower unlike the previous massages I've had. And now the reason why this review is one star: out of the three massages I've had this is the first where I've had more aches and pains after the massage than before the massage. My wife was so sore after the massage I wasn't even able to rub her back. Two days later and while we're getting back to normal, it's crazy how much we hurt after this massage. We looked up the techniques that were being used and we think they were using "reflexology" and "craniosacral therapy" which are both psuedoscience nonsense that, as we found out, are more likely to injure someone than relax them. We will have to be more careful next time in the spa that we choose. And to add insult to literal injury, the parking voucher they gave us did not cover the full cost of the parking garage. read more

We stayed at The Edgewater for a girls spa weekend. The hotel is beautiful and very nicely renovated however the spa building is dated and a bit rundown. My rating is mostly for an amazing massage with Tori! It was wonderful and just what I wanted. The spa is NOT relaxing though. There were kids in the "relaxation pool" the entire afternoon from 12:30-4:00! The waiting area was loud the entire time from the staff constantly walking around, doing dishes, the pedicure station is basically in the relaxation waiting area, to chatter from the front desk and nail stations... pretty bad for being a nice spa. I don't know why they couldn't put in a glass wall in a few spots to reduce noise everywhere. Again, Tori's massage was great, the atmosphere was not. Just know that going in. read more

My husband and I get massages and pedicures here, often. This last visit on Thursday Aug 29th was very disappointing. The girl was sweet and very new. She said she just graduated beauty school two weeks ago so I was excited thinking wow this will be a great pedicure. However it was not. She didn't cut my toe nails straight across nor did she file them and I have sharp corners so when I got home and went to bed my nails snagged on my sheets. I ended up getting my file and filing them. I also noticed she did not get all of the old polish off ( I opted for no polish on this trip but again now had to get nail polish remover to take off polish). Also she did not cut my husbands nails at all and did not ask him if he wanted them cut either. For $65 or so per pedicure I really expect much more. The Manager there is amazing and I really like the friendly service she gives us. Every member of staff is awesome to. But this pedicure for my husband and me was not worth it. :( read more

Pricey for the quality of service provided. I went in for a spa package (massage, facial, pedicure) and the only part of it that I liked was the facial, which I almost fell asleep in because I was so relaxed. The massage was one of the most pokey, sharp jabbing massages I've had. I don't know why, but I wasn't directed to put my stuff in the locker room and didn't know where it was, upon check in. It was at the end of my second service (my facial) that she realized that no one told me this and took me down there. I had to carry my belongings in an oversized bag from service to service prior to this. It's not that this was a horrible experience, but I have definitely had far better all around service at other spas. I felt extremely uncomfortable and out of place, which made it impossible to relax for any part of the day, except for the facial. read more

My first visit to the Edgewater Spa was over a year ago. My visit wasn't right then and seems nothing has changed now despite assurances that my feedback was valuable. Despite the beautiful appointments and great location, this spa lacks polish and a guest-centered ethos. * The waiting area is unfortunately situated between the front desk, salon and nail areas. As such, you are likely to hear ambient noise and other conversations while waiting. One conversation I overheard was a spa employee offering champagne and mimosas to a pair of female guests seated nearby. The same was not offered to me. * Due to staff oversight, I was not given a clipboard to fill out prior to my service. This resulted in my service provider taking time out of my service to walk through it with me. Coupled with the fact that my provider was late, I received a 75 minute massage for the price of a 90 minute massage. * When I attempted to settle my bill before leaving the spa, I was informed that it "appeared as though by bill had been closed out and I had already paid." A similar situation occurred last time when I was under-charged for my service. When I went back to notify them that I was undercharged, their response was "we would have noticed that eventually and just charged your card for the correct amount." If it wasn't bad enough that they openly admit these shady practices, the manager made excuses for the employee who charged my card without authorization. * Finally, the spa provides 3-hour parking validation for guests. I parked for 5 hours. Instead of being charged $6, I was charged $9 upon exiting the ramp. I communicated this to the manager, who at first ignored my question then, when pressed, responded with incorrect information about their parking rates. If you're looking for peaceful relaxation with 5-star service, I do not recommend the Edgewater Spa. If you want to pay through the nose for a mediocre experience, give the Edgewater a try. read more

The Edgewater Spa is Madison's hidden gem. Having never visited before I recently went for their signature facial and had the best facial experience ever. I have done peels, microderm, facials, etc. for years, but this took the cake. I never felt rushed, the space was drop dead gorgeous, the views over the lake were serene, but the facial itself left my skin feeling the best it has in years. My granddaughter selected The Edgewater for her destination wedding. The hotel is excellent. The location is fabulous. If you want to look glamorous for a special occasion, make an appointment at The Spa with Roxy. She knows exactly what to do for people of all ages. I looked great for photography and our formal evening wedding and she recommended makeup for everyday casual living as well. Best of all, Roxy is very honest, she tries to use your makeup whenever she can. The mother of the bride looked exceptional and the bride was very pleased as well. Based on Roxy's artistry, I will be buying makeup from The Spa in the future. And Roxy is very nice and easy to work with. read more

My husband and I have come here twice now for couples massage and enjoyed them very much. The spa is so beautiful and inviting you feel relaxed as soon as you step inside. We had the same massage therapist both times and were really happy we did. They worked out my sore muscles but at the same time made it very enjoyable and relaxing. My husband said his massage was just as relaxing as it was helping work out some tension in his back. It is more pricey than other spas in Madison but well worth it. My partner and I visited the Edgewater Spa during our stay at the Edgewater Hotel last weekend. The staff was exceedingly helpful and friendly, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, and the service was exceptional. The prices are on par with comparable spas. His massage was exactly what he was looking for, and my men's manicure was great. I play piano, so I try to take good care of my hands, and the manicure/paraffin were a welcome relief after a long winter. This review is for the customer service/management. I scheduled services for my husband and I for our first anniversary. A. Few days before the appointment, the spa called to confirm the appointment, then said I had to select a different service because I'm pregnant. Then they called right back and said the service I had selected was fine, and I could keep it. Then they emailed me the next afternoon and said I had to change it to a different service. They could not accommodate a time, so I offered to change the services to the next day, and to switch to the prenatal services. They (for an unknown reason) cancelled my prenatal service and replaced it with a non-prenatal service. At this point I asked them to cancel all appointments as they kept changing them without discussing it with me. They charged my credit card (required to schedule appointments) 50% of the services even though I only cancelled them due to their incompetence. I asked for a reimbursement of the fees and they refuse to reimburse me. I have asked the spa manager, Emily, to call me back, but she will not. She just cut and pasted their cancellation policy and emailed it me. I'm surprised a newer business would treat someone like this. Word of mouth goes a long way. I won't be trying to schedule here again. Scheduling an appointment at a spa should never be this stressful. read more

I took my two daughters and niece to the spa for a girls day out. We all enjoyed the services we received, which included massages, facials, and microdermabrasions. Ask for Becky! The environment is tranquil, the whirlpool was soothing, and we even worked out while we were there. You certainly can't beat the view of Lake Mendota! I was a fitness member of the edgewater spa last semester, and as a student it was expensive but very nice and I thought it was worth the $70 per month. However, this semester they raised the price to $130 per month and claimed that they wanted to be more revolved around "wellness", so you have to pay for unlimited classes as well as the fitness center (even though this same package was only $100 last semester). Clearly they are just upping their prices to not get students to join their gym because we can't afford that. I do not know why the management of the spa is against the idea of students (especially those who live on the same street as the edgewater) having access to their gym, it is honestly insulting. It is absurd that they pretty much doubled the price to join this gym, it is not special enough to pay that amount of money. read more
