French gel manicure
Julianne O.

I just moved here from California and have been trying to find my new go to nail salon. I can't say I've found it because I prob will test out a few others but I can say I had a decent experience and lives the way my nails turned out. I had an 11 am appointment and got started right away and was out in 50 min which works for me. I don't like spending all day in a salon or even over an hour. I did notice that some people came in after me that didn't have an appointment and we're turned down and one lady waited a good 20-30 min before they got started with her. Call ahead make an appointment, but this is a great spot for nails.

This salon always makes me happy! They always take their time and make sure I am happy with the shape and color. They have a ton of color choices! They also offer a drink upon seating. Love Lotus

If only Yelp had zero star ratings... this company would get one. If you have a three year old in your family, you'd be better off having them do your nails then going here. I personally haven't been here, but my sister and her friend went here last night. That's when the day took a turn for the worse. When she told me that the owner is the one who did her nails, I was expecting a fabulous review and nails that looked stupendous. You could imagine my surprise when she was rather upset - and more importantly - uncomfortable and in pain. As you can see in the attached photos, the salon owner (she believes his name is Denny, but it may be Danny), either doesn't know where a cuticle ends and a finger begins or simply doesn't care - both which make him not only unqualified to own a nail salon, but even more so to do nails. Obviously, my sister and her friend displayed a level of annoyance, as I'm sure many would do in a situation that they were in - where someone providing a service doesn't take responsibility. This resulted in both of their nail totals being up charged $5.00 from the displayed, and agreed upon, price. I can only imagine this would have happened because he didn't think he would have gotten a tip - which at least he would've been knowledgeable enough to read the room and understand that. But to up charge because he did an awful job... why is the customer paying for that? This... 'business' was contacted today regarding this matter. Logical, reasonable people would generally assume responsibility when they injure a customer, but the response that they got was that "that happens sometimes". Do your nails at home or go to a reputable business, that stands by the pricing displayed & that doesn't injure their customers (and the people who keep them in business) "sometimes", and when they do injure or do wrong to their patrons, they promptly fix it. Unlike this business owner. *For reference, these photos were taken 24+hrs after the incident, and after being soaked & coated with Neosporin.

I got a mani/pedi and the difference between the manicure and pedicure were night and day. I would like to give the pedicure a 4/5 stars - it was relaxing, a calm environment, though some interesting 80's music choices. I had a glass of white wine while I read and had a foot massage and got my toes painted a deep read. The woman was sweet and not chatty and had a pleasant smile. I loved every minute of it. I cross to the other side of the wall am greeted by a woman who looks at my choice of nail polish and rolls her eyes - "do you want a shellac? Because this will come off in 1 day!" Curious on why they would distribute such an inferior product, I inquire about the price of this and find out its double the cost - a bit outrageous as someone who was just looking to get some relaxation after a Monday at work. She rolls her eyes again as I agree to the "one day" manicure, which she reminds me of multiple times. My nails are trimmed speedily and inconsistently. She then asks if I want to pay and I agree that's probably best. She paints my nails sloppily and quickly as there is another woman, a walk in, who wants a shellac. My fingers are stained with polish and she pointedly asks if I would like and eyebrow wax after looking at my eyebrows. I'm ushered to the drying area with no goodbye, no offer for any water, or any warm remark. With not much guidance on where or what I was doing, I burn my hand on the black light and leave in frustration as there is no one in a 10 foot radius of me. Looking at my nails now, I think I would rather pay a middle school girl to do a better job. The manicure was at best a disappointment. 0/5 TL;DR - I would return for a pedicure, but you couldn't pay me to have a manicure.

Anything but the basic pedicure is way overpriced. I don't think there was anything organic in the organic milk and honey option I got. I never saw anything resembling honey but they did pour some white murky liquid into the water. Then she tells me there is an up charge of 4 bucks on the OPI polish I picked out after I was sitting in the chair. Really?! No sign over the polish area to warn people. My one foot is still red from the scalding wax treatment. She kneaded my foot so hard I thought she would break a bone! Still have dry calluses on my heels- she barely touched them. My polish on my big toe was smeared before I even left the shop but it was tolerable since there was a line waiting. Then a buck for using a card to pay...2 stars is generous if I think about it!

A translucent pink Essie color. Purple glitter for my toes. Great selection of colors.

We walked in at 6:40pm on a Saturday - everyone looked up and stared - until someone at the counter finally said, "can I help you?" I said we were here for a mani-pedi and asked if they had time for walk-ins. They brightly said, "sure!" and got a couple of chairs ready right away. It wasn't until later I realized they close promptly at 7pm, and I felt like a big jerk!! I was grateful they took us in, since we were looking forward to our pedis all day and went out of our way to get here. The managers ended up staying an hour past closing to make sure my mani was perfect and completely dry before walking out the door. Our technicians spared no effort in making sure our pedis were soothing, enjoyable, and detailed. Competition must be fierce since we were seated in upgraded massage chairs, and offered water, soda, or a glass of wine to go with our pedis. The basic pedi package for $32 comes with a leg massage and paraffin wax treatment. In my experience at other places, the wax treatment is usually extra, so I've never had the chance to experience it until now! The ambiance is really fun and relaxing -- they had some colorful lights, a chandelier, and beautiful polished counters -- this would be a great place to take a wedding party or spa date. Their attention to detail, warm staff, and above all their perks for the price, make this place worth the drive from campus. Other than feeling like a jerk customer for arriving close to closing, it was the best mani-pedi experience I've had in recent memory. P.S. They take card, but appreciate cash. Starting next year, they'll have a $1 credit card charge.

I love this place. They do a great job on my nails, the atmosphere is hard to describe but very enjoyable, and they give me wine... Need I say more? They accept walk-ins and are well staffed. The staff are personable and talented. I've had my nails done by several different technicians and I'm happy to say they're all great!

I called around 9:50am on a Saturday and booked a 10:30am pedicure appointment. When I arrived at 10:30, I didn't have to wait at all. They took me straight to the pedicure chair. The place is very clean. The pedicure tubs are lined with plastic. They use new nail tools for each person, and they open the package in front of you. I got the organic orange pedicure. The hot stone massage was wonderful, and I loved the paraffin wax treatment. I had a great relaxing experience and will definitely be back. They charge a $1 fee if you use a credit card.

This has become my new favorite nail spot! The prices are good and they always do quality work. I have been there three times and it is very clean and well organized. I have never had to wait a long time even on Saturday mornings. I have acrylic nails with gel polish. They make my nails look natural, no weird bubbles or thickness. It is a bright and happy place to visit! Pretty and modern looking. I have never left disappointed. Heads up, they charge a $1 fee for credit cards. I usually just grab cash on my way there.

Gorgeous shellac mani at Lotus Nail Bar and Spa!
Ashley L.

Lotus is FANTASTIC! I've been going there since they opened and have consistently gotten fast, high-quality service. Their shellac manicures are long-lasting and they have a wide range of colors. They are also great with nail art. One of the techs freehanded a design for me that I got compliments on for weeks. I took in a picture of a mani I found online and they executed it perfectly! I have gotten one pedicure there and it was okay. They have many different pedis to choose from and the basic one includes a paraffin wax, but callous removal costs extra. Also, my color chipped within a week--it may have been the polish I chose. They do take walk-ins, but it's best to make an appointment as they are quite busy. Also, pay with cash or check as they charge $1 for credit/debit card transactions (there is an ATM in the salon for convenience). Overall this place is great. I used to go to another nail salon in Madison and they charged quite a bit more and took a whole lot longer. At Lotus I get a beautiful shellac mani in about an hour (add a bit more time if you want a design) for a reasonable price. I would recommend Lotus to anyone!

Despite my request to keep my nails longer, 3/5 were filed down to nubs and my poor cuticle on my middle finger :/
Alexandra K.

Reasonable prices for the services and definitely a relaxing atmosphere. I LOVE their pedicure massage chairs! High tech and fully customizable from your seat to your shoulders. Best of all, no crazy acetone or acrylic fumes (which is a huge deal breaker for me at other "cheaper" places! I can't enjoy the experience if I'm leaving with a migraine). My bestie and I have even dubbed this our annual "birthday spa" place! Minus 1 star for rarely listening to my request to leave my nails longer (shaped, not cut down). Last time I also had to keep asking them after she was "done" to remove the obvious shellac paint she got on my hand and fingertips.

This isn't about her; it's about a broken scheduling system. I've suggested redefining new customer to include anyone not seen in 3+ months (since 6 weeks is a full hair growth cycle), but nothing has changed. In the past, the rushed time even left me with residual wax, but I didn't complain. They also raised the price recently and it's now $61 excluding tip. Meanwhile, a competitor I've tried has been on time 100% of the time, so it's clearly possible. The delays here cost me extra parking fees, push back other commitments, and cause anxiety when I can't make work meetings. With no Wi-Fi and terrible reception, I can't even do anything productive while waiting. Time is money. During my last visit on 8/8, I was told Sesha would be 5 minutes late... then 10... then maybe another 5, before being told I should consider another specialist or reschedule. REALLY? EWC cancels my appointment if I'm 5 minutes late, yet doesn't hold itself accountable for being on time. How is that customer-centric?

I've been serviced at this European Wax Center more than five times, having purchased a wax pass…read morebundle, and overall I've been pretty pleased with the results and timing of my sessions. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was not as good. All appointments are booked in 15 minute increments regardless of the service. My appointment began about 10 minutes late, and lasted 25 minutes. My partner had the same specialist immediately after me, so her session began more than 20 minutes late. 15 minutes per session isn't realistic as some services (like a full Brazilian or full legs) take longer. The issue is when one appointment starts late or runs over, it creates a domino effect for everyone after. In the past, I've had great experiences with Sesha--she's one of the best there, and she's always made me feel comfortable. But when I got home after this visit, I noticed patches of hair left behind and bits of wax still on my skin. Some even stuck to my clothes, which was difficult to remove. I suspect the rush to catch up on the schedule affected the quality this time. At checkout, I planned to use my gift card of $67 to cover my wax, but was told it's now $80. When I questioned this, they said their prices went up in April. I felt a 20% increase was a bit steep! While I've had good results in the past, this last experience left me less satisfied, and I hope management works on improving appointment timings so the quality isn't compromised.

When I called with a question, they were very nice and I made an appointment. I am so glad that I did. Tom did my nails. He did a great job! Did a nice job and the cuticles, the length and the shape. Exactly how I like it. When I walked in this was the color I wanted, but they had the color with sparkles. So I got that. If I was up here again I would stop in. I just wish that they were in my neighborhood so they could be my regular to go place. Thanks Tom! You're the best!

At 4:10, I was asked to sit in a pedicure chair. The gentleman who did my pedicure was rough, cut me twice, trimmed far too much off my big toes, and left nail polish on my skin. I didn't receive several of the items listed on that pedicure type. My daughter finished when I was still having my pedicure, and they directed her to a chair next to mine. After she waited almost 30 minutes, she didn't even want the pedicure anymore. No one ever came over to acknowledge her or start working. There were walk ins after her that received service. I finally sat down to have my nails done at 5:05. I had a picture of the French manicure I wanted. It took an hour and 45 minutes. It looked nothing like the photos; the edges were sharp and I scratched myself. There was so much product under the nails and I asked him to file it, but he did not. For two French manicures with a full set and one pedicure, I spent $224!
