Located conveniently off of University, with plenty of parking in the back. No walk in availability - appointments only! I paid $70 (+ tip) for a dip manicure and removal. If you rebook with them they won't charge for removal at your next appointment. This was definitely on more of the pricier side, but I thought my nail tech did an excellent job and I'm really happy with how my nails turned out. The facility was also clean and very nice on the inside. They were pretty busy the day of my appointment so it was a bit of a wait but I wasn't too bothered by it. Nails 4 U is an incredibly nice salon with a great, clean aesthetic and friendly, talented artists. I've gotten shellac (equivalent to gel) and gel-x. If you want gel-x make sure to make an appointment a bit in advance because only one person there does it. They don't take walk-ins in general anyway. My nails lasted a long time and Shirley did such detailed, clean work. After I got my nails done here, one of my friends commented that it was the best she's ever seen my nails. They have a huge variety of colors for shellac and gel-x as well as regular. The one downside is it is quite expensive - I can't come here on the regular but definitely for a special occasion or to treat myself every once in a while. read more

When I moved to Madison, I tried a few nail salons with mediocre results but when I found Nails4U, it easily the best--not just in Madison, but out of the dozens of salons I'd been to. Cecilia in particular is a phenomenal nail tech and business owner, and I've had wonderful experiences with Mia too. My dip powder manicures always last well over 4 weeks with no lifting, and my pedicures have lasted for months at a time thanks to their high-quality products and technical expertise. I needed an appointment last minute and was able to get one the same day when I called earlier. Reminder: appointments are required and they DO NOT do walk ins! Wide selection of gel colors available. I would say it was a bit pricier than I expected, but I'm giving them a 4/5 for accommodating a nail breakage without any additional costs. They were able to soak off the nail and replace it. Apparently, the first layer had not dried enough causing some bubbling to occur underneath. Now, my nails are now four days out and they still look fabulous! read more

After having such a great pedicure here I came back in for a Manicure. I had shellac on from a previous salon and they were able to remove it for me for a fee (no fee if you're removing their own nail work). While getting the gel removed, I had a really nice talk with the owner Cecilia who told me more about the salon. They do not use drills here to remove gel polish (quite common everywhere else I've went) because it really hurts your nails. Removal is scraped off by hand after the gel is soaked with some type of loosening agent. They are also very clean, sanitizing every single thing used between guests. They use a new nail file for every single guest. And there is no smell of harsh chemicals in this salon because they use non toxic polishes and cleaners. Learning all of this made me really appreciate it even more. Cecilia was able to remove my old polish and finish my new manicure in a little under an hour. She was very nice to chat with and I'm so happy with her work! I will definitely be coming back here from now on. I highly recommend it! read more

I didn't ask to not use clippers and learned my techs judgement isn't the best as there was a close enough incident yet the alcohol spray proved there was an actual incident as the sting was strong. Nice inside, relaxing environment. I got gel nails, and the long lasting pedicure. My tips are goopy? The gel is raised higher than the balance of my nail bed. I also had to reshape them when I got home because they were crooked.. and I pointed it out twice and mentioning again is just awkward. I was visiting Madison from out of town and needed a pedicure. They do not do walk-ins, so I was glad I called first. I didn't watch the time and was late to my appointment but they graciously accommodated me. The shop was very clean and all of the employees seemed happy to be there. It sounded like all of the other customers were repeat customers. The pedicure I received was fairly quick, but I felt like she wasn't rushing and did an excellent job. More efficient than hurried. This is the perfect place to get your nails done in Madison! I came here with my sister Tuesday morning after calling ahead of time. They were able to accommodate us for a shellac mani and regular pedi on short notice, which was great! We were a bit pressed for time and they assured us they could finish both services in less than 1.5 hours. Initially, I was hesitant as I thought they would rush the work and it wouldn't be as good but I was very wrong. They were very detail-oriented and really took the time to do the little things that matter. My technician was covering the phone a bit, but even though she had to stop and pause the mani/pedi, I still thought I got great service. My nails look fantastic! She put several coatings of the shellac polish on which has held up even though I've been moving and packing/unpacking over the weekend. The place itself is very clean and chic. I love the plush seating at the nail station and the massage chairs at the pedi station. The technicians are friendly and welcoming. My gel nails were growing out, so I looked up a place nearby to get them off. Searching Yelp, I called Nails 4 U, mistaking it for another salon where I had had a regular mani/pedi for a pretty good price. It was a good thing I called, because Nails 4 U is by appointment only. While they take walk-ins if slots are open, call in advance because there are fewer chairs here than at other salons. Luckily, they got me in that afternoon, and as I walked in I realized this was my first time here. Glancing at the wall, I saw prices were higher than expected, but I like trying new places so I stuck with my plan. This is the best mani/pedi I've had in Madison, not for the atmosphere or the price, but for the quality of work. Let me qualify by saying the space while small, is clean and organized and there are a couple of flat screen TVs to zone out into. They are open until 6pm on Sat and closed Sun. Sounds mediocre so far? Let me break down for you why my experience was so great. If you prefer a more spa-like experience and open atmosphere, you may need to find a different place, but for me this is always secondary to workmanship. The whole point of getting my nails done is for the detail, so when I see even a slightly crooked paint job at the cuticle, a polish gap on the side, or without wrapping the tips with polish, I feel like I might as well paint my nails at home. I've tolerated relatively sloppy work before, particularly at salons that lean more towards getting the job done fast rather than done well. At Nails 4 U, the service is conscientious, the staff are knowledgeable, and my interactions with staff felt genuine rather than transactional. Thanks to my nail tech Shirley, I was schooled on the difference between gel manicures and SHELLAC®, because I had no idea. Apparently there is a big difference in the quality of materials salons can buy, though they often charge customers the same price. SHELLAC (a branded product by CND) is much easier to remove than "gel polish" (a 5 min soak for SHELLAC versus a 20 min soak with scraping...) and thus you're able to maintain the health of your nails better without needing to rest your nails between manicures. FYI, for gel removal, if you got it done elsewhere it's $15 a la carte, or $10 with service -- around 2-3x more than the cheapest places. They also carry CND and Opi "weekly" polish, which is between regular polish and SHELLAC in terms of drying time and lasting/chipping power, but you can remove it easily at home like regular polish. There is a $2 upcharge for the CND weekly polish and $4 upcharge for the Opi weekly polish, but if you're prone to chipping and still don't want SHELLAC, you might find it worthwhile. They also have a great selection of Essie colors if you just want regular lacquer. They've been open for 11 years and the fact that they're still around attests to the loyalty of their customers. I regret ignoring this place for so long because of its generic-sounding name. My final bill was 1.5 times more than what I was planning to spend, but was the extra cost worth it? For me, a definite yes. read more
