I payed a higher cost than usual compared to fitchburg/west madison salons. I requested an all white gel pedicure and square. I got some toes square and some not so square. I also received gel pedicure set that only lasted 1.5 weeks, the polish ended up peeling right off. Although The foot/calf massage was a 10/10 experience. In my 5 years of living in the US this place was the only one that has been consistently delivering immaculate manicures and pedicures. Regardless of whether you are getting it from the lady or the gentleman who work there, it has always been spot on. When I go there to get both mani and pedi I prepare myself for a somewhat spa experience as they give lengthy and thorough massage of your arms, legs and feet and it is just delightful and so relaxing. One of the best places I've ever experienced. Every single manicure I've gotten from there or pedicure or shellac has stayed chip free for a long time. By that I mean a good three weeks for a pedicure, a week for a manicure and three weeks for a shellac. I have often had service from Amy and I would really recommend her. I had a relaxing pedicure for $34 which included hot wax and some foot and leg massage. The massage chair was clean and felt very good, but one of the functions stopped working after about 20 minutes, so I just chose another function. The employees were very kind and friendly and not fake acting. I liked that I could close my eyes and relax rather than having to chat with the pedicurist. The water was a bit too hot, but the pedicurist quickly modified the temperature for me. The polish was neatly done, and she carried my things to the drying area. They had a TV, but it was off, and I enjoyed listening to the instrumental version of modern hits over the speakers instead. I was only one of two customers around 4 p.m. on a Monday. read more

I went here twice. The nail technician cut my finger and didn't even apologize. Just soaked up the blood with some paper towel and left it on the work bench - so unclean! The tools are covered in nail dust and old cuticles from other customers. I almost walked out at that point because the work station was so dirty I was worried my cut was going to get infected from the dirty tools. They don't wash them before they move on to the next person. The first time they let walk-ins go ahead of me and pushed my appointment slot back 20 minutes. The manicure took two hours (gel manicure only) because they couldn't get organized enough to actually have a dedicated person sit with me and work on my nails. Based on the price menu I know they overcharged me - may have been an accident but I was in such a hurry to get out of there I didn't feel like starting an argument about it. My gel manicure chipped the next day. Waste of money and time. Makes me sad - and confused? How can nail salons justify charging $60 for one gel manicure? I genuinely don't understand. I hope they get their act together and start working on being cleaner and nicer. It would be a shame to see a locally owned business go under but if they did it wouldn't be a surprise. That may sound mean - but just consider what it's like to be ignored, only to have your hands cut open with dirty tools and then overcharged for it! Such a bummer. read more

I am so sorry to be writing a two star review. We walked in for two pedicures on a Sunday afternoon and they were able to get us in within a half our, which was a positive. Once the pedicure began I asked them not to cut my cuticles, only to push them back. This is very important to me since cutting the cuticle can cause infection. he nodded and smiled but then began cutting my cuticles. I asked him once again to push them back only, and he nodded and continued to cut my cuticles. The entire process took two hours. I'm all for indulging yourself, but that's just too long for a pedicure. On the bright side, the paraffin wax treatment was not too hot like I have experienced at other salons, but I would call that an expectation, not a positive. The entire time they said not one word to us, but chattered back and forth to each other in another language. I really like when my pedicurist talks to me, so this made me uncomfortable. When it came time for the top coat, the one they used completely changed the color of my pedicure, so I told them to skip the top coat. I was getting a robin egg blue polish and the top coat must have been contaminated by red polish because it caused my color to turn pinkish. He nodded and smiled and continued to put the top coat on, so I ended up with a different color than what I wanted. It was nice that they were open on a Sunday, and the price was affordable at $31 per pedicure, but I won't be back. read more

I am a regular and was totally caught of guard and surprised when the owner scolded me in front of other customers because I forgot one of my appointments which I had already apologized for when it happened. She kept saying over and over " you make sure you not late, Julie". "Make a note" "You not forget this time" Well, my memory isn't so good anymore and I asked if they could send text reminders and she said No and that I should make a note on my cell phone. She then proceeded to grab my arm looking for my cell phone which I wasn't carrying. No purse as I left it in the car so I had just my wallet and car keys under my arm nearly dropping everything. I have been coming to Majestic Nails since moving back to Madison several years ago, coming in every week for a manicure and every few weeks for a pedicure. Amy, Sam, and Amy's mom are always very welcoming and friendly, doing their best to accommodate walk-ins as well as regular customers alike, within reasonable expectations. Amy has been doing my nails for years; since she and her husband, Sam, purchased Majestic Nails. I can't say enough positive statements about this salon and its owners. The salon is kept meticulously. I have watched them bleach wash the floors, sanitize the pedicure stations and generally clean everything to keep it clean. The music is soothing, the chat is friendly and the nail care is careful, extremely well done and lovely. I have received many compliments on my nails...this is thanks to Amy! She does a variety of services so well. She even paints on little designs for me like snowflakes, hearts, shamrocks,etc. whenever there is a holiday. When I call, I have always been offered a convenient time for my appointment, which generally takes about an hour for a detailed manicure. She makes sure that my nails are completely dry and always tops it off with a soothing hand massage. Wait time when you are on time??? very brief to none! WIRST mani/pedi experience I've ever had!!! If I could give a zero star I would!!! My mani/pedi was not even a complete service, I didn't receive any massage, cuticle clippinh, or anything, just a basic paint change...when I went to pay, my nail lady called me a LIAR!! Do not come here to get your nails done! I went in for a manicure & pedicure a few weeks ago and my manicure had just begun when 5-6 other women came in for manicures. Instead of letting them know there would be a wait, the owner sat them all down and did all of our manicures at the same time! That means he put my topcoat on, I sat there for 20 minutes, then he put the first coat on, sat there again for 15 minutes, etc. My manicure ended up taking 3 HOURS! All I got was a half-assed apology and a half-assed manicure. Not impressed. Very unprofessional. read more

This is the best place to get a manicure in Madison! Talk about reasonable prices--a regular manicure is only $15, and a mani/pedi is only $40! Plus, they give you a punch card, and every 10th manicure is free! They are open Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays). The staff is friendly, and they don't give me a hard time for having short nails! I like having short nails, but many places in Madison (Kelly Nails, I am talking to you!), make me feel bad for having short nails. I usually have Chow (sorry if I am misspelling it) do my nails at Majestic Nails, and she is experienced, competent and super nice. I think you should ask for her when you go! The place is clean, the ambiance is peaceful and best of all, you can request NO UV LIGHT when drying your nails! That is important to me, because I like to let my nails dry for about 15 minutes, and I don't want to worry about getting skin cancer. I used to live in NYC, and I have a lot of experience with manicure salons. I can say with confidence that I have tried a LOT of manicure places here in Madison, and Majestic Nails and the nail place at East Town Mall are the only decent places with reasonable prices that I have found so far.
