We did have to wait longer than usual for someone to take our order. We each ordered fish, 2 bottle of beer & a soda. Getting the food also seemed to take longer than expected. Food was good. However, the problem came when attempting to pay. The receipt had a "cash price" & "non-cash" price. I approached 2 females behind the bar with my Debit card and said they couldn't legally charge me a fee for a debit card. Neither wanted to deal with it & got some guy from the kitchen. I explained the issue. He got very close to my face & rather loudly raised his voice at me 2x's & said, "Go downstairs to the ATM & get some cash & come back up here to pay." I told him debit cards were the same as cash. He refused to discuss the issue. I then proceeed to tell him that we would not be coming back again.

Have heard from friends who all have had a good experience here too at the old Ranch. Would have given 5th star but the ambiance is pretty poor with icky furnishings and questionable cleaning? Happy hour, served 2:00 - 5:00, Monday through Friday, gives you a chance to sample a variety of beers, seltzers, cocktails and Jameson whiskey soaked cherries. For entertainment there is a pool table, darts, video gambling and pull tabs. For convenience, there is a place out back with a designated smoking area. The menu has appetizers, cold sandwiches, kids meals, paninis, pizza, salads and hoagies. Several of the dips/sauces are homemade, and I found the dip served with the chips was especially good. It's the creation of the owners mother, and has a lovely whipped texture with garlic and onion flavor. I had the Rasta Roots salad, and my husband had the Simply Tuna sandwich. The salad was good, with the grilled chicken being served shredded instead of in strips. The jerk ranch had a little kick at the end, and was served on the side. The sandwich was nicely grilled, and the tuna salad was truly "touched with mayonnaise" so the tuna flavor stood out and not the dressing. Service was a little slow, but since we weren't in a huge rush it wasn't an issue. This is a nice, laid back spot with a beautiful brick and wood interior, and plenty of room at the U-shaped bar to socialize and chill.

I have gotten sandwiches a few times from this spot, but each time I find the same thing: I don't like their bread. The ciabatta is crackly and hurts my mouth. The focaccia is just so much bread for a sandwich. Often I find my sandwich is just dry and not as flavorful as I'd expect for a spot that seems to be innovative and thoughtful about their rotating sandwiches. Every time, I read the description of the sandwich and think it'll be great, but every time I'm disappointed. It's dry and bland. I'd rather spend my money on food I enjoy, which is a bummer because I'd rather support local businesses, but I'd say save your money for Jimmy John's or Jersey Mikes.... But who knows, maybe I'm just not ordering the right thing.
