If you're looking for a place to play indoor pickleball in Tacoma, then head over to The Drop Pickleball Club at the corner of S. 25th & Fawcett. Located just up the hill from the Tacoma Dome, the club features seven indoor courts and one outdoor court. Programs are offered for beginners, intermediate, and advanced players, and its a great place to improve your game and get ready for tournament play. There are different membership levels, and we started with the "Drop In" membership but quickly upgraded to the "The Drive" membership since we love this place so much. We highly recommend checking their schedule to reserve a court, sign up for Open Play, or take one of their classes.

Chris has told everyone that he can get your daughter a scholarship. They just want your money.Your daughter will be considered a "cash-cow" to them. If you are on their regional beach team, DON'T EVEN WASTE YOUR MONEY - that's a joke. Yes, Christy will smile all day and tell you how awesome your daughter is, etc, and swipe your card. Its a hard sell to parents that are just trying to do their best for their kid and are easily deceived & boy do they lay it on THICK. Next is the whole "Ohana" or 'family' bs they try to sell. I don't care what they say, there is no Ohana or team feel here. Girls/parents screw each other over all the time - its literally a pit of viper parents. Really, its bad - the worst club experience x 100 - because you have to schedule your own partners (NO, they do not help or pay) and schedule your own games - with other moms, complete with ego's & rampant backstabbing that Dakine is aware of but does nothing to step in. Its not much better on the Elite travel team. Fork over $3k for the summer & winter - and if you are not part of the ~10 favored Chris crew - you are just a funding source for them. Know this going in, they WILL treat you and your daughter poorly. They WILL NOT help you with partners to play with. You WILL get lots of smiles and BS, until you figure out (like most of us) you were completely duped. They completely lull you into a sense of security that they will take care of you. THEY DO NOT. And btw, most parents on Elite detest Chris, but have to pander to his narcissistic BS to get attention for their kids. Its pretty pathetic. Just know, there are other orgs out there to consider, before getting sucked in. Just remember he is selling the same lines to every fresh faced girl and mom/dad who walk in there! They depend on the old saying "a sucker born every minute".

Standard cardio equipment (all are pretty new and kept up to date). 2. Free weights area. 3. Squat rack (I like their plates). 4. Boxing circuit area. 5. Personal training area. 6. One group exercise room. 7. Hydro massage chair and bed. If you're into group fitness, the classes they offer here are tons of fun, as the instructors are very into what they are teaching. Also, staff at this gym are friendly and not pushy on up selling at all. I'm only bummed that they don't have a dry sauna and/or steam room to offer their members.

I requested for a manager to call me. 4 days later and still waiting for that call and for my refund. Guess it's not that important to them. SMH! Thank you Jeanne. Please note, it wasn't the lack of a phone call "over the weekend". I waited a good 5-6 days for a phone call from I'm assuming you, as I requested for the manager to call me. It was after that period of time with no call that I had to call back again and try to resolve this issue. My first call I was hung up on for some reason after being placed on an extended hold, so I then called back a second time. I was then told the manager was no longer available to speak with me. After explaining the situation to the call taker, they finally agreed to transfer me to the manager a second time.

I wanted to love the new Morgan Family YMCA, I really did!!…read more The building is brand new, clean, modern, and the workout equipment is genuinely impressive. On the surface it feels like an upgrade. But the second you get into the locker room, sauna, and steam room situation, it becomes obvious that whoever designed this either doesn't use it, or didn't care how people actually move through the space day to day. The old Morgan YMCA worked. It was organized, adult-friendly, and felt like a place you could actually relax. This new one is the complete opposite. First off, the locker room setup is a mess now. A lot of older YMCAs had adult locker rooms and separate areas for kids, which kept things smoother, quieter, and more respectful. Now it's all combined, and it feels chaotic. Kids running around everywhere, loud, cramped, and you genuinely have to watch your stuff more than you should at a gym. The lockers are also way too tight together. It's uncomfortable trying to change, uncomfortable trying to grab your stuff, and the locker doors don't even open all the way because they're packed so close. It looks sleek on paper, but it clearly wasn't tested in real life at busy hours. The floor situation is another problem. The drains aren't good enough, and the floor is constantly dirty. People track in dirt and moisture from outside, especially from the new grass, and there's no real buffer zone, no solid drying area, nothing to keep the locker room from turning into a dirty mess. You're basically stepping around grime nonstop. Now the biggest disappointment, the sauna. Yes, it's bigger, but it's a worse sauna. It's not nearly as hot as the old Morgan YMCA sauna was, and everybody notices it. The old one hit you immediately. This new one takes about twice as long to even feel close to what the old one did, and that defeats the whole purpose. And I'm convinced the main reason is the design choice that makes no sense, the doors are fully glass and there's a huge window, so heat leaks out nonstop. It looks "modern," sure, but it performs worse. It's a sauna, not a display case. The steam room is the only part that still feels like it has power because it's extremely hot. But even then, it's almost too hot in a bad way. The steam jet placement is ridiculous. If you sit lower, it blasts so close to the ground that it literally feels like it's boiling your legs. I love steam rooms, but this wasn't relaxing, it was borderline painful, and it honestly made me wonder if it's even safe. And then there's the co-ed sauna situation now. It's just not the same experience. It used to be quieter and more peaceful. Now it's louder, more talking, and way less relaxing. If you used the sauna as a mental reset, this is a straight downgrade. On top of that, the layout getting to the locker room area is insane. There's a gigantic rock wall shoved right into the hallway, creating a constant traffic jam. Kids line up and block the entire walkway, so you're squeezing through like you're in high school and the bell just rang. They could've moved it into the corner and fixed the problem, but instead it's planted right in everyone's way. The crazy part is this is disappointing because the building is clearly nice. They spent money, they just spent it on the wrong things. This new Morgan Family YMCA could've been perfect, but the locker room setup, cramped lockers, dirty floors, bad drainage, hallway bottleneck, and weaker sauna makes it feel like a complete downgrade. One star. Huge disappointment!!

Really bummed out about thus entire place. I feel like the whole community is gone. It would be…read morebetter if they just market this as a "kid gym" since that's all there is here. I have always been a huge fan of the YMCA, especially the Morgan Branch. I'll most likely end up going to Lakewood, or just quitting all together and going elsewhere. It's concerning to me that this cooperation took a lot of money and did absolutely EVERYTHING nobody wanted. Read the other reviews... they say it all. Not to mention the safety as far as wet floors, heat in the aquatics center, and lack of access for older or disabled people. The whole thing is sad. Bad move YMCA. And I didn't even know the rates went up until reading someone else's review... which is an absolute joke. This new gym feels like the IKEA of gyms.

It's easy to start a team or to join as an independent player, the level of player is diverse (with plenty of room for folks new or out of soccer shape), and the general vibe is merry. Pros: - incredibly helpful customer service (go Vanessa!) - easy to join - reasonable price (~70.00 per person if a free agent, less if you make a team) - consistent location (at least for soccer) Cons: - website is a bit stiff to work with - ref experience is generally fine but can vary (all the refs are pleasant but not all are great at calling the game) Personal fit: - you'd need to check the league timing to see whether the days/times work for you - 1 to 2 games per week (7 v 7 sometimes 2, 11 v 11 usually just 1) - I sometimes wish the games were a little longer... (7 v 7 is 25 minute halves) - the style is laid back - it gets competitive but some folks may want more competition than the league will offer - the skill level varies but is very friendly to new/out-of-shape players - some folks may want a more competitive league - minimum of extra rules (e.g., no macho rule) - I love this but may frustrate folks looking for league-restriction of skill level or play style Highly recommend you give the league a try if you think it fits your style.

I have played on the four indoor courts extensively, including a lot of league play, and have always found them adequate. They were resurfaced not too long ago. Playing on the six outdoor courts in good weather is really nice, though as a previous poster noted, they are typically dry only four or five months a year. For anyone who values the social aspect of tennis, LRC is a good bet, too. The management and members are friendly folks. But who's joining a tennis club in Seattle/Tacoma where it rains 8 months out of the year for the outdoor courts? I'm judging this place based on their indoor courts which needs work. The lighting could be nicer on all 4 indoor courts. They have 2 courts in one area of the club, then 2 in another. The first 2 courts are awful, there are big ceiling poles in the middle, and a wall to the left side that you can easily run into. I've had Lakewood team tennis players tell me it's their strategy to hit short angles so players collide into that wall. When you run back for lobs, there's basically no padding behind the tarp. So you collide right into a wall. Once, I was running back for a lob and someone had the steel door open because they were watching a match through it (I don't get why this person thought this was a good idea). So, I run into the tarp and right into the door (I didn't know it was open), right into them, and had the door been open a bit more, it would have probably knocked me out. They have a pool here. But it's not a real lap pool where you can swim. It's what I call a "drunk pool." Meaning it's more one of those pools people in Southern Cali will have in their backyard, where on late summer nights when you've had a lil' too much hard alcohol and for some reason you feel like jumping into water naked - it's that type of sized pool. If this club near was in the Bellevue or Seattle area, or more North, it wouldn't survive. I think it has a large membership base because there aren't many options in the Tacoma area for tennis. Tacoma Lawn isn't worth the money at all (indoor courts are pretty weak), Sprinker is nice but always packed, so Lakewood survives as an alternative.

There are two permanent indoor courts and 6 beautiful outdoor courts. During the winter, 4 of the 6 outdoor courts are put under bubbles for 6 total winter courts. Membership is capped so that court availability is excellent (thus, the waitlist). The pool is very nice and surrounded by nice gas grills and tables. During the summer, everyone grills and enjoys the pool and the weather. There is a dedicated Pickleball Court, a playground, and a full gym, which currently includes a club Peleton membership and two Peleton bikes.. The people at TLTC are great. I've made great, lifelong friends since we joined in 2017. TLTC has USTA tennis teams at just about every level and frequently sends teams to Sectionals and, sometimes, Nationals. The club supports these team, paying for team away court fees to encourage participation. The club also has a rich history. The club was originally formed in 1890 and has been at the current location since 1903. The old photos as you walk in make you feel a part of something special. If you're looking for a club in the South Sound and are considering TLTC, don't hesitate. The waitlist can be long, but the wait is worth it!

It survives because it's the only higher end tennis facility in Southwest Washington. They have 4 indoor courts, 2 of which are in a bubble. The lighting is good, but you can find much nicer at equally priced clubs. So, it's really only worth the money in the summer when you can use their outdoor courts. By comparison, the club I joined also has a 4 court facility. It also has much lower initiation, but still maintains decent membership cap to ensure court availability. Tacoma Lawn has a gym and much better locker rooms, but the club I joined has nicer courts in every single possible aspect. It also has as nice an outdoor pool. So compared to tennis clubs in Bellevue or Seattle, Tacoma Lawn falls way short. For the price of initiation and dues at Tacoma Lawn, you could join Bellevue Club, and have significantly nicer everything (huge indoor pool, much nicer indoor courts, awesome basketball courts, a more modern gym, cooler member facilities). But since Tacoma Lawn only has to compete against Lakewood and Sprinker, it has a market for itself. Also, in my opinion, the people at Bellevue Club are nicer and more laid back. If I lived in Tacoma, I'd just play at Sprinker on weeknights, and use the money saved from dues to drive up to Boeing Tennis, or a better club in Bellevue.
