Oh my. I had an excellent night out in Molly Brown's for my friend's 22nd birthday, and now I'm…read moregoing to tell you alllll about it. You lucky people... First up was a bit of dinner, and this was undoubtedly going to be a good one. Molly Brown's run this 2 courses for £10 offer from 12-9pm Monday to Thursday, and from 12-6pm on Friday and Saturday, which is really very good value for money. There's a huge variety too and definitely something for everyone - from garlic bread starters to roast stuffed pepper mains. I chose the bread and oils starter, which down an absolute treat (including down my top, which didn't go down quite so well...), and for the mains I had a burger which wasn't half a bad 'un. So far so good. We happened to be there on a Thursday night (incidentally, as Geraldine mentioned, quiz night), so we weren't going anywhere any time soon. Between the meal and quiz, we got some drinks (Strawberry Daiquiris were all the rage) and had a bit of craic. Speaking of the daiquiris, I got a lesson in making one from the exceptionally friendly barman. Excellent. The quiz man (who's an absolute hoot) did arrive a good bit late, but we were all so pumped for the quiz (ok, I was), that we didn't mind too much. Throughout all the rounds our team were in second place until the very last round. As Mr Quizmaster announced the scores, we listened for our name and realised we'd come top...with another team! Oooh, the drama. One last tiebreak question, and the first prize was ours. Well, you should have heard the cheers, and the singing along to "We are the Champions"...yes, an exceptionally good night indeed.

I heart Molly's and here's why! This contemporary pub has been open now for a few years on the site…read morethat used to be The Whiskey Haw and it has been a crowd pleaser ever since. On a Thursday night you can drop in for quiz night with the very entertaining quiz host and his half time nibbles...free and yummy! if you win you will receive anything from a bottle of wine to a 24 pack of beers (i know this because our team have won now a few times and we are not geniuses nor do we use our phones!!) They have a long list of cocktails as well as your standard man refreshments - beer! I heart Molly's because they run fantastic little offers every now and again. Sex and the City 2 premier night had a free cocktail, tickets and a bus to the cinema and back for a cheap as chips price! Trips to Down Royal racecourse are also run through the bar - the classic a pint and a bet. Kelvin, the manager, will happily whip you out 'a steak on a stone' from the kitchen while you look at the lovely paintings of local areas by local artists. Seriously, I could go on and on about this place...the food is really good with a starter and a main for a tenner. They even hosted my fiances 30th birthday party for no charge and allowed me to decorate the whole place with pictures of him in his nappy! So accommodating, affordable, friendly and I swear i'm not even getting paid to write this but I am going to print off a copy and take it in and try to get a free cocktail out of it!

The Hudson Bar - Mirror, mirror on the wall what's the best bar of them all?

Firstly I thought that on a Friday afternoon that the place would be rammed and I'd have to wait an age to get ripped in to those tiny, tender poultry pieces but I was wrong I walked in ordered at the bar and less than 15 minutes later I was presented with a wooden bowl of 33 glazed buffalo wings - all for £8.95! The price was good and the wings did live up to the hype but I wouldn't say they were earth shattering. There was just the right amount of glaze but the wings themselves lacked meat. Yesterday's visit to The Hudson reaffirmed how good the bar is in my eyes - it's such a jack of all trades - serves a whole host of different beers - I had the Sam Adams, something that you don't see too often in Belfast. It really is the perfect place to garb some wings and have a beer on a Friday afternoon.

I had a club sandwich which was served with skinny fries & a nice little bit of salad, really enjoyed it all. My husband had the steak sandwich with chunky chips which got a thumbs up from him. Will definitely be back I'm back! Having food before my birthday party which is happening upstairs, tonight I went for scampi & chips....yum! Menu is limited but what they do, they do well. Table had a mix of chunky chips, skinny fries & sweet potato fries all of which are delicious

The dark wood and tiled floor give it a feel of The Crown but without the tourists and dodgy toilets. It is a bit of an old man's bar, but having been in with a group of girls who had no interest in watching the sport on the big screens, it went down a treat. There is also a pool hall upstairs, which although nowhere near as good or big as Laverys it is perfect for pottering away the afternoon. While it's neighbour The Errigle may be busier, the craic is superior in the Pav and you unlike the great selection of beers ,you can't get that on draught. ;-)

This night was top class and came recommended by the Guardians Guide- put that in yer pipe! Captains Topsy and Pixie play, in their own words '40's swing, 50's rock'n'roll, 60's girl groups, Motown, 80's alt pop and a load of shit/ brilliant stuff', well done girls on describing your own night, this is spot on! The music was amazering! Loads of sixties classics like 'These boots were made for Walkin' fitting snuggly between 'Walk like an Egyptian' and a bitta Dolly Parton 'Nine to Five'. There were also some amazingly crap tunes like Cotton Eye Joe, oh dear, but it was all in the name of good fun. Most people came dressed in cowgirl and cowboy outfiits, including one guy who went a bit far and wore a pair of leather chaps, cowboy boots with a pair of boxers underneath and a waistcoat. It ensured there was a 5 mile radius around this dude on the dancefloor for the entire night, but hey, he was enjoying himself. The downstairs bar is nice and elegant, but the TV's showing sport were really intrusive whilst trying to have a nice drink. Upstairs the atmosphere was a lot more relaxed. I would definitely recommend this night to you, yes you, I know we don't know each other that well but you'll enjoy it. Trust me! Check Hellza Poppin Belfast for the next hoedown.
