A good venue with live music when we went there. Lots of seating areas!

Similar experience to the above - lost booking, unhelpful staff. Avoid for eating.

I have eaten in the restaurant upstairs and the food is fresh and reasonably priced.

The staff are friendly and you can sit back and relax over a few drinks. If the shopping gets you hungry as well as thirsty then you can get fed here too. Not the biggest menu in the world, but I think it's ample for this place - Chicken goujons, lasagne, chicken curry, fish, burgers... all the popular stuff. I had the lasagne with chips and coleslaw when I was there, and it was a hefty feed. It all tasted pretty good. It wasn't like lasagne you'd get at night in a restaurant, but for a pub I was well pleased with it. You won't usually get much in the way of entertainment here at night because of where it is. It's away from the city centre, but doesn't have much in the way of a residential area anywhere near it, so it doesn't really have a lot of visitors to Belfast, or regulars who live locally. Still, it's a sight for sore eyes when you get that shopping lark out of the way.

I had never been here before, nor had I even heard of it, but I was pleased with the look of the place, spacious, comfortable, and lots of free space so we could sit and have a good chat while we waited. and wait we did. We were shown to our table reasonably quickly, and the waitress took our drinks orders. We perused the small but ample menu while we waited, and after some fifteen minutes, it became apparent that we had been forgotten about. We managed to locate the waitress who apologised and brought our drinks then took our orders. I ordered the lasagne which someone has already mentioned, and we received our food around 20 minutes later. It was a great big portion, and was extremely tasty - worth the wait! The price was pretty reasonable too, came to just over £20 for two of us which included a few soft drinks too. If I was around the area again I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

The impressive establishment is enclosed…read morebetween two pillars at either corner of the front of the building, surely as a reference to its name. Built in 2003, it was recently bought over (after its previous owners encountered tough times and the bank got involved) by a family who own a few other establishments in the locality. When you first walk into the pub, its like walking into the lobby of a luxurious hotel - well laid-out, spacious, high ceiling reminiscent of old Victorian buildings, and a wooden staircase with cast iron (i think) hand railings leading you up to the restaurant. There's also a small bar, more frequented by locals, into the left as you walk in. It's a busy pub at the weekend, often with a local DJ playing tunes from the 80's on Saturday nights, and live music/two-pieces on a Friday and Sunday that create a good atmosphere. As you can tell from the entertainment, they're very much focused on getting the over-25's crowd in. Unfortunately, you can't get Harp or Carlsberg on draught, due to the owners' contractual ties with Bass. That means they sell Tennents, which wouldn't be as popular. Personally, I wouldn't drink the stuff if it was free - in my opinion it tastes like what I imagine licking a rain-soaked Golden Retriever would. It's not a beer I would drink, and I know a lot of other drinkers who would avoid a pub where Tennents is the main beer on draught. They should do a survey in open-houses (bars which sell whatever beers they want and aren't tied to one particular brewery), and I would bet that Harp outsells Tennents by about 15 to 1, with Carlsberg not too far behind. Tennents is also famed (though I don't believe any empirical evidence exists for this, just anecdotal evidence from a lot of groggy people with thumping headaches) for its hangovers. That being said, you can get Stella Artois and Beck's as alternatives, both of which are pretty good beers, the development and introduction of which I imagine saved many a Tennents seller from going under. These are beers I also avoid, as I believe they could be more appropriately used as a propellant in NASA's vehicles - still, two very good beers. All-in-all, not a bad place to go for a night out if you're in the area, and hopefully the new owners continue to promote it with the energy they have been, but if I was staying in the city-centre I couldn't find any reason to travel up there.

The thing that got me first was the was no ramp leading into the building so we had to pick up the pram to bring our daughter in but there was strangely a lift to the restaurant area :/ I ordered the stir fry and it was honestly the nicest I've ever tasted! My partner ordered the burger and chips and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was so nice we were contemplating dessert but had to remind ourselves we still had shopping to do, otherwise I think we would have. The waitress was so friendly and the food arrived quick enough. I would have gave 5 if it wasn't for the ramp leading in, I was thinking about people in wheel chairs and those who struggled with steps but if I find that there is an alternative access for this I'll retract that part and give 5.

It's a comfortable little bar, renovated in the last 5 years or so. The downstairs bar is very small, and always has a few punters milling about, given its location in the middle of the densely populated Andersonstown, which is also a hub of local shopping. Food is served upstairs on the extended first floor. The food's pretty good, and gets quite busy at the weekends, although there's always a local patronage throughout the week. I've only ever had a Fry in there, which used to be fantastic because they were a sort of "clean" fry - no greasiness or sausages sliding off the plate as you try to stick a fork in them. The last two times I've had a fry there it's been a bit disappointing though. I don't know if it's a different chef but they just aren't quite as good as they used to be - I still go back though because they're not bad. There's an extensive lunch menu and this is what keeps the locals coming back time and again. When the food is finished, upstairs just becomes a bar, and it's sort of a modern take on a traditional style, if you can picture that. I mean, it's got the whole wooden effect going on, but also has very comfortable and roomy seats. There's entertainment on there a few evenings a week, particularly at the weekend, but this is mostly aimed at a younger crowd. All-in-all, not a bad spot, especially if you happen to be milling around during the day and fancy a pint or two, or a bite to eat.
