Two hot dog special, fries and onion rings.

This is a STAPLE. It brings back memories, the owners and people who work here are absolutely incredible, kind and hardworking and the food is delicious can't go wrong with the 2 hotdog lunch special. Thanks for everything dogout!

Menu board. Sorry about the bright lighting.

Five-star charbroiled goodness...everything cooked to the perfect crunch! Oh, it makes me a little melancholy that the last time I was here my boys were young. Now that they are all grown up, it was time for 1/2lb *big boy* cheeseburgers...no more 1/4lb for my 6' teenagers :-) I ordered up a chicken sandwich on a pita, and my kiddos had the cheeseburger. The chicken sandwich was lightly seasoned with some sort of Greek dressing (I think) and perfectly charbroiled. Tender as can be, I ordered it in a pita, so they chopped up all the pieces and threw in an abundant amount of fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The pita was notable. It was lightly crispy on the edges. Like a salad in a pita! Moving on to the cheeseburger. Don't let the super char photo fool you. The burger was dark pink in the middle and not overcooked at all. It was served on a lightly toasted bun. Though I'm trying to eat less red meat, I had to steal a bite. Topped with American cheese, just perfect for a hungry teenager, the burger combo came with a side of their yummy crinkle fries. All perfectly cooked and lightly crunchy, there were no fry chunks left over. The portion size was so big my kiddo couldn't finish it. A win for me! Customer service was off-the-charts. The owners were friendly, and they checked in on us several times to make sure we were happy. This place is an institution and checks off every single box as to what a perfect restaurant should be.

I like how Bannockburn has this hot dog fast food place that has a Chicago Bears related mural, complete with signatures from the 1985 offensive line, including TE Moorehead's signature! It almost makes you feel like Ditka can walk in any minute although I heard that he sold his place, which is not too far from DogOut. The lunch specials are solid and the Chicago dog is what you would expect in the city. The fries are hot and crispy! Prompt and friendly service, ample parking - perfect for lunch when you want to get away from the office.

Known for their dogs, Dogout's beef isn't second rate.

Expect the best of hot dog stand fare--and perfectly grilled hamburgers--here in a cozy spot where the energetic and friendly owners are working the counter and eager to please. Tried the hamburger this time. Juicy and flavorful.

1/2 lb cheese burger and fries

Nice spot to get a quick and cheap bite to eat. Good customer service. Owner is very funny and has great suggestions on the menu. We had the 1/2 lb burger and Chicago jumbo dog with fries (both were really good with a nice grill taste).

I had the Dogout pegged as a hot dog joint (because of the name). It has hot dogs but also burgers, gyros, Italian beef sandwiches and salads. The food is straightforward (they don't put gyro meat on a sausage) and so is the decor. I was actually confused by the hot dog menu because no toppings are listed - and they don't have a toppings bar (or I didn't see one). I asked for it Chicago style and of course they knew what to do. * Chicago dog ($2.69): a boiled Vienna beef hot dog, huge pickle spear, sport peppers, chopped onions, yellow mustard, relish, tomatoes, celery salt surrounded by a soft, steamed soft poppyseed bun. The right ingredients were there and it was a decent, standard dog. The pickle spear is rather overpowering.

If you like portillo's fries you will love the dogout's fries!

So this is my first time here but not my last. If you like Portillo's cheese fries you will love the fries at this place. It could actually be better than Portillo's. No joke. The cheese sauce comes out nice and hot and the fries are the crinkled kind that go fabulous with the cheese! They give you a lot too. Easily good for two. Since I'm a fat kid at heart, I ordered myself a char double dog with cheese, ketchup, extra tomatoes, grilled onions, sport peppers, celery salt and pickles on the side. The dog was one of the yummiest I have ever had. I'm a Chicago girl so that says a lot. Quite surprising how one of the best dogs I've ever had is here in the North Shore and not in the city. Props to these guys for that. It was charred to perfection, not burned like some places do. Sorry I had to deduct a star only because I was looking forward to the grilled onions the most but when I got home there was no grilled onions anywhere in sight. I was bummed at first but the fact that the cheese fries and the dog were so good I got over it quick. I live walking distance to the popular Micheal's and Stasha's in Highland Park but I will totally make the drive out to this place next time I want some yummy fast food. Gotta also mention that this place is super clean and well kept. It has hole in the wall food without being your typical hole in the wall. Friendly service too. Keith rounds down too :")

Owners who are the nicest people have lost their love for this business. Everything is filthy from the thick dust on the menu board to the grime in the corners of the restaurant to the ketchup and mustard bottles. I cannot return.

5 stars because they make their own cucumber & onion sauce for the gyros, excellent. If you are a gyros fan, this place is a must!

When you visit you will notice that lunch and dinner food (hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages etc.) and dessert foods (ice cream, teas, milkshakes, etc.) are served in separate areas in the restaurant. I went here for dessert and was not disappointed. They had a small variety of ice creams but they were really good. I got the triple chocolate ice cream and my husband had the Oreos and cream. The ice cream had a lot of flavor in a small scoop. The atmosphere is super fun. The walls are drawn on in crayon. I had so much fun trying to find messages in the scribbles. Dear Franks of Deerfield has great food and is super fun. Dear Franks of Deerfield comes highly recommended.

Fun atmosphere, good music, excellent customer service and very clean indoor & outdoor dining area (limited seating but it's better than nothing). I have the Francheesie Hot Dog & it was great. Also, love the bread they use here for their buns. Soft, and not cheap. Fries are on point as well. Better than some of the usual cheap crinkle cut or shoe string fries. I'd put their fries on the same level as Five Guys. For the vets & active military in the area, take note they do offer a military discount and your fountain drink is on the house. The real highlight for me, though, was the chocolate cake -- incredibly soft, rich, chocolatey, and moist. It was the perfect dessert after dinner. The restaurant itself is super cool and full of old Chicago memorabilia and vintage items that make the place feel unique and fun to explore. If you're visiting town, it's worth stopping by just for the atmosphere alone. They also have a huge food selection and a full bar, so there's something for everyone. The service was great, and despite how busy the place can get, they have plenty of lines for self-service and ordering at the counter, which keeps things moving smoothly. Overall, a really fun spot to grab food while visiting Chicago.

The atmosphere, history, and overall hype surrounding it definitely add to the experience. However, in my personal opinion, the ambience and reputation outweighed the actual quality of the food! I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich combo along with a classic hot dog. The customer service itself was actually very nice and prompt. The cashier helping me was friendly enough to let me sample their spicy chipotle-style sauce/spread that comes with the chicken sandwich, and honestly, that sauce was delicious. That said, I have to admit the hot dog itself was pretty underwhelming. I know Chicago-style hot dogs are iconic, but I personally felt like I've had better-tasting hot dogs from a Dodger Dog or even Costco. The relish here tasted oddly artificial to me -- almost like a strange paste consistency that I just couldn't get into. Maybe it's just my Los Angeles taste buds talking, but honestly, some of the best hot dogs I've had are from the street vendors off Hollywood Boulevard with the grilled onions, bell peppers, mustard, mayo, ketchup... you know exactly the kind I'm talking about!! Overall, I'd still recommend trying this place at least once simply because it's such a well-known Chicago institution, but for me personally, the food didn't fully live up to the hype.....
