Owner is awesome

Drive 20 miles out of my way for this place! Awesome food and awesome owner and staff! Everything is great you won't be disappointed.

I really enjoyed my visit to Salerno's. It was around lunchtime on a Wednesday and it was pretty busy. There are a few tables on the inside (all full). This seems more like an eat on the bed of your truck kind of place anyway. I ordered the Chicago Style Hotdog, hand cut fries and a chili cheese dog. The fries stole the show. In fact, and I don't say this lightly, these are some of the best fries I've ever had. I'm coming back for those fries. The hotdogs were very solid and I'm excited to try other things on the menu.

What a cool little hot dog stand! My wife ordered a cheese dog with the works, for myself it was their massive Maxwell Street Polish along with an order of fries. We were very surprised to find a hot dog stand, that actually had excellent hot dogs! The dogs and Polish were cooked to perfection.... not like some other places where there overcooked, rubbery or some kind of mystery meat in them. The fries we're homemade and very similar to Gene and Judes. It's been hard for us to find a place for a good hot dog lately..... not like the "good old days" where you'd just about throw a stone and find a place with good "dogs". So, even though it's a bit of a ride..... I'd highly recommend them for a great Polish and Hot Dog.

The hot dogs were not bad and reasonably priced. Less than $5. Would recommend trying it out

This is the large fries. This is in addition to the fries I ate on my corn dog plate! A lot!

Good place. It's hot dogs so not a lot needs to be explained. Corn dog very good. Chicago dog also very good. I think they steamed the dogs. The fries are good. And I got like 4 potatoes worth with a large fry. I also love the fact that I got ketchup in small containers instead of the dang packets. My only recommendation is that they should offer vinegar for the fries. Good place!

Italian Beef with sweet and hot peppers and a side of large fries.

I came here twice already and ordered the Italian Beef and the Two Dog Deal. The food was delicious and affordable and service was very quick. The place is quite small so expect to order food for takeout.

Very Noticeable!

Zooming through Yorkville on a crisp fall afternoon, I couldn't help but notice this bright yellow cartoon style building glowing in the sunshine. I did a quick U-turn suspecting this might be a Hot-Dog-Hut painted in the classic flagship colors of Yellow, Red & Blue. It's a whimsical color pattern exclusive to Vienna Beef products. The 'Neon' sign flashed "OPEN" for business. I did a grab and go with a snapless Chicago Style Dog minus a Poppy Seed Bun and not a sliced tomato to be found. But from one onion lover to another, these were chopped in perfect precision and slathered generously for your tasting pleasure. Hit the spot! At that point I was a happy camper capable of overlooking Salerno's rendition of the classic Maxwell Street Polish. Your quoted a 6-minute wait time for a sausage link dominated by overpowering bread and mustard. The grilled onions make a scant appearance and the sport peppers are accounted for, but the sandwich is out of whack! Salerno's demonstrates that 'Chicago Style' is completely subjective and doesn't necessarily reflect the taste and opinion of management! I guess it's OK to wing-it!

June 2020, prices increased in November, according to their Facebook page, their costs increased due to Covid-19.

Yummy, peppery Italian beef!! My husband loves Italian beef, so I'm sure we'll be back again when in town.

I was generous in my last review, but after reading what the owner's reply I've decided to downgrade my review. They STILL have lousy fries

Good food and friendly people. Fries are freshly cut and hotdogs are true Chicago hotdogs.

Very average. Not the greatest food. Had a beef and a few hot dogs. Next time I will drive farther.

I cannot recommend Saucy Kat enough-- it is such a unique experience to walk up to a food truck…read morewindow (a beautiful wood trailer with red details) and be offered restaurant level dishes (fresh pastas and sauces, salads, stuffed shells, eggplant and chicken parmesan etc.) that far surpass the standards and expectations set by all the Italian restaurants in the Chicagoland area. They also offer a variety of more event-friendly options, such as Italian Beef (you must try the Kat's Way Beef, it's fresh and loaded and unlike anything my family and I have ever tried before--and my father is somewhat of a connoisseur), meatball subs, chicken Parm subs, and so on. Chef Kat (who singlehandedly built and [with help from a charming and enthusiastic staff] runs the operation) is enormously talented-- her food is excellent, her drive is inspiring, and her passion is ever-present! She built an incredible business and staffed an outstanding team, it is always a pleasure to visit the truck. For the love of God or who/whatever you believe in-- check out Saucy Kat! It'll change your life :) P.S. you may think I'm overselling until you try it yourself. And be sure to grab one of their freshly-made Italian ices: they're perfect for hot summer days.

I ordered the Italian beef and got it Kats way, safe to say that it was the best Italian beef I've ever had (farrrr better than Portillo's). The flavors go together so well and Kathy loads the sandwich up, totally worth the price. When I came across them they had a long line and now I completely understand why. I can't wait to come across them again at another event!!
