This is a brilliant venue with lots of various street food options all under one roof. They used to run pop-ups but now Dockyard has a permanent home. It has a mix of ten World food traders. I opted for Japanese and my husband opted for a pizza. There are also multi-themed bars with a full bar.
It was a great opportunity to meet up with the Glasgow Yelpers and celebrate Lucy B's birthday. Lucy suggested here due to their opening hours. So if anyone had children they could bring them during the day. It is also dog friendly. I thought that was a really good idea. Folks dropped in and left throughout the day at their own leisure.
The Dockyard is only opened at the weekend but has long opening hours. Basically the party starts on a Friday from 5pm - 11pm, 12noon - 11pm on Saturday and 12.00noon - 8.00pm on a Sunday. It really is a great social dining area experience.
One thing you need to do is buy a £5 entry ticket. I bought mine online from their website. Online let me choose a time slot. I choose 12noon - 5.00pm. We then exchanged our tickets for coin tokens at the cash desk when you arrive. So I presume you can also buy on the door. The token is worth £5 so this means you can redeem it for a free drink or a free food items for one of the stalls. I would advise using it towards the food as most items are from £5.
I would also advise that you wrap up as it was pretty cold. They do have heaters dotted around the place but when your sitting for so long you can start to feel rather chilly. I've only experienced it during the winter so it will be interesting to see you how it is during the summer.
I highly recommend this place as alternative day/night out. There's DJ's keeping the choons going, so it's got a good atmosphere.
The only thing is I did find it a bit hard to find when using Google Maps. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Exhibition Train Station and you could walk by the entrance when you arrive. Fortunately there was a bouncer outside and he said we were in the right place.
If you get the chance, go along, it's a great way to spend a weekend with a different type of dining experience. read more
