This place is pretty good. I don't ever expect much out of sports bars food-wise but we actually come here for burgers and wings from time to time. The service is OK as well as the cleanliness. They have some sort of Guinness sauce here that's really yummy. While visiting an area vendor, we ended up at the Distillery. Lucky for us, they take reservations such that we had no wait for our party of 8. The place was pretty busy at noon on a Thursday. We walked past the stainless steel bar with TV's completely surrounding the area above it. I imagine this would be a pretty good place to watch the game, whatever game that is. The menu is an extensive mix of sandwiches, burgers, salads, and sports bar type appetizers. I opted for the buffalo chicken salad, impressed that you can make healthy by getting grilled chicken instead. When the salad arrived, the chicken looked quite naked, but it had plenty of buffalo flavor. The greens were a nice mix - not the standard bagged iceberg with carrots and purple cabbage mixed in. The salad could've used more toppings, but I would still order it again. The rest of the group got sandwiches and burgers, many opting for sweet potato fries. The server tried to tempt us with beer specials, but it was a work lunch, and I'm not in the advertising business in the 60s. read more

I know the Distillery is a staple in Rochester, but I've been here twice and I'm not all that impressed. The service the last time (Mt Hope location) was slow, I got the same burger hoping it would taste different, but it didn't. It had a very charred taste to it. This iteration (the one on Winton) is more or less an upper class Rochester sports bar. It's sports bar atmosphere, sports bar drinks, sports bar food, sports bar patrons. But, compared to the never-ending stream of sports bar competition in Rochester, the Distillery is a few notches higher up the food chain. read more

I visited the distillery on Mt. Hope a few times. The food is okay but not anything to brag about. The service isn't bad. But last night my friends and I went to the distillery to eat in and it was atrocious. One of my friends is vegan. I don't know if this restaurant has vegan options and he assumed they didn't have either. His order was French fries and vegetables. About 5 minutes in the chef comes out of the kitchen and yells "who the f ordered vegetables and French fries". I found that to be rude and unprofessional. His meal choice might sound weird but you don't make a rude comment or judge someone's dietary needs. I think the staff needs to be trained on professionalism. I also think the menu should cater to everyone's needs including vegans. read more

Went for happy hour, and everything went pretty well. There was no parking though, which was kind of hassle. Just had some appetizers, nachos, and spinach & artichoke dip. You should always serve that with fresh bread imo, but they go with chips. It was okay, nothing stood out, but no complaints either. Service was okay, but not exceptional. Will never eat from there again. Got takeout today for $80. Cold, soggy wings with barely any sauce. Pizza that was somehow cold and burned at the same time. $11 for a Caesar salad that was just romaine lettuce with some croutons thrown on top. The burrito bowl portion size was so small that my 11 yr old ate the entire thing in 5 mins. Expensive, small portions, low quality food. My boyfriend and I come here all the time to eat. We absolutely love this place and prefer The Distillery over any other place. I always order the Grilled Buffalo Chicken Wrap with BBQ sauce and no blue cheese dressing with fries and side of BBQ sauce. Let me tell you the BBQ sauce is the best sauce I ever had! The chicken in the wrap is so tender and falls apart with every bite. My boyfriend use to get the Chipotle Chicken Grilled Cheese Sandwich with fries and a side of BBQ sauce to dip the sandwich in. He loved it and I loved the wrap, that's why we come here like every Wednesday or Sunday. The only downside is they recently updated their menu and got rid of his favorite sandwich. But every time we come here, they still make it for him, they just don't have chipotle sauce. I think that's really awesome that we can still come here and enjoy our favorite menu together. read more

We happened upon the Distillery on a recent Saturday night. We were in the area and looking for a casual meal. We made the right decision. Our server, Andrew B, truly made the evening. He guided our dinner choices and helped us pick the right libations! I had the chicken spiedie and a blueberry ale and my husband had the chicken avocado sandwich with fries and a raspberry vanilla mule. Neither of us was disappointed. Andrew checked on us several times to make sure we were happy. We had a $10 off coupon which made the affordable prices even more affordable. I stopped in for a quick dinner and sat at the bar. I ordered a beer and a menu. Ordered a burger, medium with fries. It was delivered by a waitress and I asked her for ketchup. She said "he'll get it for you" and disappeared. Thanks. By "he" I assumed she was referring to the bartender. He was in deep conversation on the other side of the bar with what I assumed were regulars. I waited. And waited. And waited. Finally he came by and I asked for ketchup. My cheeseburger was tiny, very well done and dry as saw dust. Nobody bothered to check back with me to see how it was. I kept eating it because I hadn't eaten all day. I finished my beer 1/4 of the way through my meal. The bartender was back talking to the same group as earlier. He made his way over to the guy to my left. My empty glass was sitting forward. This place never fails to disappoint! Order a sandwich with fries to go? No fries when you get home! Order a beer at the bar? Half full of foam! Too big, too dark, bad food, poor service. Overall, a disappointment over and over again, which is a shame since I live so close. I was really hoping for a good meal since breakfast at the Cracker barrel sucked. We ordered pretzels, deviled eggs and 10 wings. I wanted to enjoy some buffalo wings and the boy wanted Asian something... I ordered specifically that way, we each wanted different flavors. So we wait and the food comes out. I've gone here to watch sports and eat/drink for a couple years and usually find good bartenders. I liked their pizza, but I'm really disappointed in the change in recipe for the buffalo chicken fingers. This used to be the only local place I could find that did them the way I like them, with a lighter flour coating. The past couple times I've gone I've noticed they switched to a very thick and crunchy almost KFC like coating that tastes more like fast food. The bartender and manager were both very nice and accommodating even though I told them I hate to complain. Went here on a Wednesday evening with a group for a birthday. Ive enjoyed the distillery in the past but this location does not seem to be on par with the others. The appearance of the restaurant creates a nice atmosphere in the summer. The beer selection is great but the food has been average at this location the couple times I have been there. The rating is a two instead of higher because the service was extremely slow despite not being that busy. There was 9 of us and no one ordered more than two items. It took almost three hours to get everything. There was a larger party next to us that got there later and left earlier than us. The waitress was nice enough when around but there was a lot of time between visits. I most likely would not return, there are similar places around the area which are better overall. read more

We started with drinks- a Scotch Ale which left little to be desired and a coffee (not a large beer selection like Tap and Mallet or McGregor's) besides for the soapy glass, - the beer tasted flat. We ordered a "pretzel roll" for our app. We got a sandwich bun... cut for a burger or something to go in between it- and the "cheese" that came with it..... Not really even sure what that was? I was visiting the Rochester area but had lived here previously so I visited the location on Winton Rd. They have always had a god beer selection and this location had flights so I had the hop head flight which included two of my favorite beers. Caged Alpha Monkey and 90 minute IPA from Dogfish brewery. Fantastic way to have four beers and really only have one. Just had the nachos for a snack but they are awesome and piled high. This was a Sunday afternoon. Before heading back out we stopped back in for dinner and I had the pizza which was delicious but even better on Thursday's they do promotions and the mich ultra girls were there with free swag and had a drawing. I even got a free mich ultra after I bought one. I appreciate the free beer and swag but after the water beer I had another caged alpha monkey and my night was complete. I was deeply concerned reading the reviews here. I ate here 5 years ago and the food back then was very good. I'd rate it 9/10 with their onion rings 9.5/10. Did the food quality went down or something? The onion rings were clearly a home run, I haven't had any better than. Crispy, crunchy, not too much flour batter, wonderful... The All Star burger, very delicious. I ordered medium rare, got medium. My wife ordered the hangover burger, also medium rare but it's almost well done. No pink at all in the patty. The burgers were very well made. Better than red robin, more flavor and very delicious! This is the same delicious burgers I remember 5 years ago. Food quality didn't change at all. Maybe overlooked the meat a little but nothing warrants the drastic poor reviews I'm seeing. Our server was Greg by the way. He memorized ALL our orders from 5 people with 5 modifications and executed them all without any errors without writing anything down. He even repeated the entire order from memory to confirm what we wanted. That was impressive! He earned his tip very well. Service was out standing as far as I'm concerned. 4.5/5 is what I would rate this place. The cooks need to keep an eye on how they cook the beef patties. Sorry Yelp, first time you guys let me down. If it was a quarter of a pound that was it so tiny and to charge 15 dollars big rip off even the french fries weren't cooked through. I was recently in Rochester on a business trip and a large group of us went to dinner here. One of the guys ordered up 50 wings which were really good. Personally, I would have gone with a hotter sauce, but the medium was good and tasty. I had the seared Ahi tuna which was sizable and quite good, even this far from an ocean! Good atmosphere with a ton of HD sets. Had too much soccer on for my taste, but in May when we are still four months removed from college football, sports on tv is slim pickings. If I wind up having to go back to Rochester, I think I will be more than willing to go back. read more

Really good food. I went there with my dorm hall for dinner. They were very accommodating; we had 30+ separate tabs and they seemed very happy to comply. I had the bacon n chicken club (I think..), and they had really good sweet potato fries. I like the location, service and beer selection. However the most important aspect- the wings- are just average. I am not sure why but the Mt. Hope location has much better wings and lives up to the Distillery reputation. This location does not and I feel it may be a matter of not "saucing" the wings adequately.
