The waitress placed a checkerboard pattern wax paper down on the counter which was a nice touch, even though the counter was clean when we sat down. My dining partner and I both ordered a cheeseburger. I asked for fries and my dining partner wanted onion rings. Both meals filled the plate they were served on. The burgers had a nice char and were slightly greasy, as any good diner burger should be. The lettuce, etc. were all fresh and the bun was soft. The fries were cooked properly with a nice crunch outside and soft inside. The onion rings were very good, being nicely crunchy on the outside with soft onion inside. These were about the perfect definition of a good onion ring. We wound up spending $22.94 for lunch for two, but that also included a cheesecake dessert I forgot to take a photo of. I can tell you it was very good and made for a great ending to a really good meal. I would assume their breakfast menu items are just as good as their burgers, so would have no hesitation trying those as well if I am passing through in the morning.

We were seated very quickly. We were tended to with care. When looking at the menu, I was surprised (in a very good way) at the prices. The amount of food you get for the price beats any place I've eaten in the city, for sure! I ordered the fried shrimp dinner which comes with the fried shrimp, a choice of a baked potato, fries? Or potato wedges. It also comes with slaw, white beans, and hush puppies. I chose to go with a loaded baked potato. The shrimp I got was AMAZING! It wasn't the dinky little shrimps you get at big chain restaurants. These were big plump shrimps. That loaded baked potato was also delicious! I'm pretty sure I inhaled it. I'm a sucker for a good slaw and I could have eaten a large bowl of it. I'm not one who particularly likes white beans or hush puppies, so I didn't try those. I got flu after the slaw, potato, and just half of my shrimp. I was a bit disappointed because I didn't get to try their desserts. I am looking forward to visiting The Pond again on my next visit!
