My husband and I stopped here in a whim while traveling. We simply looked up 'lunch near me' online and decided since it was a local establishment with a good rating that we'd try it. We didn't even check to see what type of cuisine it was! We questioned our choice when there was only one car in the parking lot, but there isn't much else to choose from on that exit and we were hungry! No lines, No waiting & immediately greeted at the front door! We WERE the only table seated for about 1/3 of our visit which made it so much easier to converse with our waitress, Brittany! She recently moved to the area from the same area we live! SUCH A SMALL world! The food was sooooo good! Perfect portions for lunch! The southern hospitality was heartfelt & sincere! Food lacks salt and seasoning. They charge for water as it comes in bottles. Makes one question the quality of the tap and what they're cooking with. Atmosphere is friendly and service was nice. When entering we were greeted and seated. Drinks were brought out,followed by a bread basket with butter. All good. Waitress was smiling with a great attitude. So that girl and her efforts,attitude, ethics were an A plus. She rocked. Started with a sampler platter. When arrived we were informed after the fact they were out of the onion rings that were included. There were ravioli there that were an orange color i had never seen before? The attempt to eat it was made. But my wife and I quickly found out it wasn't something we wanted to continue to consume. My salad was brought out and it was good. Then the food order came out.........I was overtaken by a aroma the best I can describe it as the juice of green olive jar???? Thats as close as I can come up with. My wife had the Italian Sub. One bite and she grabbed a napkin and spit it out. She thought she was going to get sick and bolted to the bathroom. We asked the young lady for to go boxes,paid and we left. I tipped her well,she was the best part of the experience there. Came home, threw the food away and both of us agreed we were not going to do that again. Low cost meal. Had lasagna that was ok. The sauce was put on the side not baked into it. The side salad was extremely basic pretty much just lettuce with some dressing. The bread served with the meal was old and busted all over the table and you when you would bite into it leaving crumbs all over you and the table. Place was very dated inside and resembled a nursing home atmosphere. The staff were all obviously just going through the motions nothing to get excited about here. It's in a great location for any lake travelers but you'll find lots of locals dining here. The atmosphere is pretty basic and plain but it's perfect if you're just wanting some good Italian food. Vickie our server was awesome!!!! The owner was awful!!! She sat at a table on her phone unless someone came in. Instead of updating the wine list to show the correct pricing or having the place cleaned. She was not friendly . We ordered a $16 dollar bottle of wine, when we received the bill it was $18.... We asked our server and she talked to the owner who said it was $18 because it was a different brand. Not my fault you misrepresented the product. When we proceeded to check out, you do that at the door, I questioned the price and the owner then came over to change it, at which point the bill doubled and the cashier had to say something. Finally got it straightened out but never an apology from the owner. Food was mediocre, ordered the fried ravioli, looked as thought it came from the freezer section at a grocery store and was microwaved. Pizza was average. Garlic knots were good. We got food to go and it was all really good! The fettuccini alfredo is large and the sauce is thick and creamy. We got the garlic knots with cheese (add marinara) and that was a great side. Love the pizza rolls here they are the best I have ever had they are huge. My wife loves the food also. Probably not the friendliest place but the food makes up for it . I don't like that they always have bottled water but I realize being a Calvert City resident myself how horrible the Calvert water is! Better pizza than I expected to find here when I stopped for the night. The cheese was great but they skimped on the pepperonis and sauce which were also very good. Crust was cooked well. The biggest problem for me was how salty the dough was. It really took away from what seem to be very high quality ingredients. This a very nice find just off purchase parkway, and especially if you get a little tired of the Grand Rivers offerings and are looking for a change. The chef here if from NYC and brings some of that authentic American - Italian flare to the menu. The garlic knots for example, are absolutely delicious with lots of cheese and olive oil don't miss them. The chicken parmesan is quite good and the salads are also excellent. They do of course have pizza and calzones and other offerings but beware there's no alcohol served here. The good news is you can bring your own wine, glasses and opener and enjoy your own favorite wine so no worries. The atmosphere is quite casual, it is family friendly, they have plenty of parking but do be careful to look for the sign for mama d's because it is small and not very well lit. Overall it's a very nice menu well done and well seasoned and I would recommend everyone should give it a try. read more

As someone who is Italian-American but my family often doesn't have much time to cook..it's very hard to find actually authentic Italian meals our area. This is pretty close to authentic!! The food is always amazing! (My entree favorite is the Fettuccine Alfredo). I 100% recommend the garlic knots..they are addictive and so good! I asked the waitress for suggestions. I went with her first recommendation, Chicken Oreganata. It was okay. Too bland for me but I doctored it up with some parm and salt. The biggest disappointment was the vegetables in the dish were notably purchased frozen. The lunch special came with a salad (mediocre) and fresh, hot bread (the best surprise of the visit). Service wasn't the best as the waitress often passed but infrequently checked on me. My biggest complaint is that they only offer bottled water and fail to tell you this when you order water. Cost $1 and then as many additional bottles as you like. Doesn't make my list of places to return to. read more
