They did a great job packing up our stuff in an organized fashion and asked questions where appropriate. There was a lot of art and other hanging things to be wrapped and they took their time wrapping with bubble wrap to ensure that they'll be good for the move. However I do feel taken advantage of by Kat. I asked if it would make sense to pack over 2 days to make it easier on them since it was a lot of stuff, so why not spread it out? She said they could definitely do that, but didn't bother telling me that meant that the higher hourly rate for a lead would be charged for both days. When I asked why our invoice was so much higher than the original quote (she charged us over 17% more than what she quoted), she told me it was because the moving boxes were all in the garage so that added time (we totally could have moved them ourselves if we knew that was an issue) and that the lead was charged for both days. I responded that when I had asked about doing it over 2 days, that would have been something that would have been good to know, because I wouldn't have had them do it that way if I knew. Her response was that it was "in their service agreement." So now I feel like she didn't tell me intentionally so that she would make more money. Again, I think they did a great job with the packing and I loved the girls that came to help her out for our packing, just feel taken advantage of with how much more we're having to pay than what she quoted us. Moves are expensive, and adding an additional 17% on to this was not in our budget! read more

The Detailed Life might be a good fit if you have a large budget for a space and you don't mind them padding the service agreement with line items and don't mind them going over their time without communicating. There were a few issues I had starting with the assistant not calling me to let me know she was leaving my house after a misunderstanding in communication with my husband about start time and expectations. This lead in a two hour charge charge even though I was calling the owner and the assistant within the hour she left to come back and please start. The supply items the assistant had me order were not sufficient for our needs in that the day of the rescheduled project I had to buy twice as many hangers, baskets we had never mentioned , a second drawer and the shoe rack was too small for the space leaving most of my shoes at the top of my closet where I can't reach. This would have still been ok except I got charged for an hour of design and consultation for this that simply did not happen and was not sufficient / adequate for our needs and was NOT in the contract. We were also we quoted a noon stop time and the owner and and assistant were annoyed we wanted to wrap up everything by 1pm and finish anything undone after That ourselves. But by this time we had a padded consult fee no one told us about until we were reading invoice (closet consultation was supposed to be free) two hours of cancelation time on the invoice even though I was calling to have her come back within the hour, ended up with far too few supplies and a bad taste in my mouth for an unapologetic owner, a few low key insults from Them , and a project that wasn't managed great. I like the idea of this but I would recommend another company (there's various on Yelp) and also inquire about design fees not spelled out on a contract and time expectations that everyone can respect and abide by so you don't leave disappointed with the value added). read more
