The office staff was incredibly attentive, making me feel welcomed and valued right away. They handled all my questions efficiently and with genuine kindness. I had an amazing experience with Dr. Singh. She is incredibly kind, thorough, and has an amazing bedside manner that immediately puts you at ease. The female staff were warm and made me feel extremely comfortable throughout my visit. Afruja was especially wonderful. While making an appointment I wasn't made aware the Doctor wouldn't be there. PA was very efficient but I was just not ready to work with someone other than a doctor. I came 10 minutes early and was only invited in 35 mins after my appointment time. The entire time I was waiting, I was looking at the chair on the right of me with a jacket and a crutch... no one ever came out before I went in... so it seemedI had been waiting for some kind of a private conversation to end behind the scenes before I was called in because there were no other patients, but me and still, it took awhile for me to go inside, to be specific, my appointment was for 5:40, I didn't go in until 6:15, then I was waiting about 15 minutes, then the AP came in. I suggest you do not go to this dermatology office. I would love to give no star!!! The staff is very nice and the doctor was also but definitely left feeling like I got robbed. Self pay no insurance and 250$ later with the wrong diagnosis Bc she had no idea. I then had to go to another doctor for a second opinion thank God I did bc I received the right medication. Not only was I unsatisfied with the entire visit I just got a bill for $50!!! For what tho I'm a cash client I wasn't told of a hidden fee and I paid $250 for the visit that's it!!!! I asked is this all I will be charged for at the front desk and she said yes. I thought I would try them since I'm local but never again!!! I will make sure I tell everyone in the neighborhood how horrendous this experience was. Good job read more

Apart from the receptionist whom was very nice and helpful, this is probably the worst doctor experience I have ever had. I was the only patient there and Dr Batya Papa rushed the entire visit. It seems like they were having a party or something in the back and was in a rush to get back to it as it was very loud in the back almost like a school cafeteria when I got there. She is talking at 10000 words per minute, how am I supposed to comprehend all the steps and remember everything when I was there for multiple issues? I brought that up and she seemed annoyed when I said I might not remember all of it and started writing it down for me. I came in for multiple issues and she rushed through everything I brought up and seemed very eager to get the visit over to get back to what they were doing in the back.I came there for help and left their second guessing if they are actually willing to help me. Not to mention this is the first time I have ever been to a doctors office where they ask me when I want to follow up. How am I supposed to know when I should follow up??? Shouldn't the doctor know and tell me when I should come back for a follow up? I was there confused and at the receptionist desk and wanted to ask the doctor when I should follow up but it seems they were back at their party in the back I just wanted to get out of there asap because the Dr did not seem to care. Will not be visiting there again and I do not recommend going here. read more

I have been going to the Dermatologist Specialist for a few years now and was thrilled when they opened the Rockaway Park office in 2022. Of course i had to make an appointment on opening day and checked them out. I left them a few times to go to other dermatologist because of insurance issues or locations, but I always run back to them. They offer convenient hours that fits the average working person's schedule. Their hours include evenings and weekends, and they take walk-ins. The staff are friendly, professional, and courteous. The office is clean and welcoming, and has a fridge full of cold water bottles and seltzers. The cold drinks come in handy if you have an appointment (or walk-in) after a day at the beach....which is feet away from the office. I have been seeing Dr. Papa at the Rockaway Park location, and she is great! She takes the time to listen to me and explores different options and treatments for me. The only thing that might be a problem with this location is parking. I was told they have some spot on the lot across the street, but I can't remember the numbers. Otherwise, you're stuck looking for metered street parking. This can be a struggle if you go on a busy beach day. So, during the summer months, make your appointments early in the morning before the beach crowd starts rolling in. read more

I grew up in the sun. I have had numerous basal cell carcinomas removed. I discovered a new one on my back and decided to try Rockaway Park Dermatology, which had recently opened. I knew I needed Mohs surgery and made an appointment there based on the fact that I was told it was performed onsite. On the day of my appointment I saw a PA, not a doctor, who performed a biopsy. Turned out they do Mohs surgery in Manhattan, not Rockaway. And the biopsy did not go deep enough, so it did not reveal skin cancer. I went to another dermatology group in Rockaway who did everything on site. I received a bill for almost $250 from Rockaway Park dermatology (my deductible). My complaints to them about the (non)service I received fell on deaf ears, and they charged my credit card for the deductible anyway. read more

Getting robbed is right! Felt like I just got swindled at a Doctor's office. I came to the office to get an out of pocket treatment one of the providers recommended. I paid for the treatment. I later received a high bill from my insurance company regarding the treatment I had paid out of pocket for. I explained to the receptionist that I had booked the appointment to receive a chemical peel, paid for the treatment, and that the bill from my insurance company was a mistake. She informed me they also considered this an in office visit and I would also have to pay the deductible. (I have received this treatment from other dermatologists and this was NEVER the case). The provider finally came to speak with me after I was trying to tell them this was an error. The provider told me this is "standard practice" and she has to answer to the people who are "higher up." I am fully aware of paying for medical services. I made an appointment for a chemical peel and paid for the intended service. I am beyond angry. I should never have received a surprise bill for an unintended service. This office is shady and doing their best to take advantage of patients. read more
