I have really enjoyed the stand up shows with a host, feature and headliner, like Chloe Radcliffe & Chris Higgins. The themed roasts are a blast! The stand up comedians dress like characters from the theme, like horror villains or Super Mario characters, and roast each other from that character's perspective. And Uncalled Four, where comedians create their own Cards Against Humanity-style "white cards" and the audience creates the "black cards" and comedians compete to be the worst person in Denver is an absolute riot! Uncalled Four even has a show after-party at Pair-a-Dice around the corner, so you can hang with the comedians and other comedy fans. The set up is sweet. All the tickets are GA, so there is an advantage to arriving when doors open to select the seat you want. This is a much better set up than Comedy Works where they seat you, ass to ass, in the order you arrive. Although, be aware, if it's a sold out show, you will be in close quarters to your neighbor. The seats are very close together, which can be challenging for us rounder folk. There are QR codes at your seat, so you can order drinks & munchies on your phone and have them delivered to where you are sitting. This is great. You don't have to wait for a server and there aren't servers roaming the aisles taking orders during the show. There is also Free Pizza available before the show. There is plenty of parking, street & paid lot. We usually go to the Thursday night shows and have never had a problem finding a free street spot on the block when arriving around the time doors open. There is also a bus stop within a block, but this is a rough neighborhood. Waiting for the bus here can be a bit...iffy. That said, if you drive, just make sure you don't have anything valuable visible in your car if you park here. Highly recommend getting to the area early and grabbing a beverage at Woods Boss before the show.

They saw an opportunity and decided to move to Denver to run their own place. It's been a while since they took over and rebranded Voodoo Comedy and my lord they are a well oiled machine. They have a FULL bar with thirst quenching drinks, hilarious shows(I recommend BATMAN LIVE and Basement Doctors), friendly staff, and an intimate theater that is conducive for laughs. They just built state of the art classrooms and if you haven't taken an improv class it is something EVERYONE should do at least once because it will change your life. I was pleasantly surprised by how clever, risqué, and funny this show was. We attended the Alice in Wonderland show and it was the perfect mix of sexiness and comedy. We got the VIP seats right up next to the stage, but from looking around, it appears there are very few "bad" seats in the house, maybe a seat or two behind some columns. My friends and I laughed and clapped and cheered. The performances were top notch. The drinks weren't gourmet cocktails, but that's not expected. I got a pretty good sized mule and dark n stormy and my friend's husband enjoyed his many martinis. The performers were kind enough take photos with us at the end of the evening. So down to earth. I also had a great experience with their staff. Early in the year I purchased two tickets in hopes of getting a good table. Then months later, they introduced the VIP tickets right next to the stage. I purchased three of those (I had added two friends by then) and the company was kind enough to refund my two regular tickets. They were very prompt and professional in emails. Regular tickets were 50-ish, VIP tickets were 70-ish. Worth every penny. No photos or videos during the production, but they allow for some photos and video at the end. Also close to many restaurants and bars, essentially in a pedestrian district. We walked to a close by mediterranean place (reviewed separately) that was fantastic.

Love the body positivity and the diversity amongst all their dancers (male dancers were included!). They provide fun little noisemakers to use during the dances to cheer them on. The Denver Press Club is the oldest, continually running press club in the U.S. It is also the last…read morewith its own freestanding building, which celebrated its centennial anniversary in 2025. That's a landmark for any organization! For a while, DPC had some ups and downs, as happens in long-established clubs. It had a season of bad leadership, mismanaged direction, and a whole lot of rebuilding to do. The ship is now righted. It again feels like the community space I got to know and call a second home when I first moved to Denver over 20 years ago. The programming has grown with monthly and quarterly events from craft nights and mixers to traditional poker Thursdays. The topics for special conversations and panels are engaging, informative, and offerings for a better understanding of current events and international policies. The guest bartenders and handful of annual functions continue as well, but there are so many more opportunities for engagement with the club and its members now, too. If you only want good conversation and good cheer, this is still the place to pull up a seat while Jim makes sure you're not thirsty! Beyond the historic setting and stories from another time, I'm glad to report that The Denver Press Club once again stands as a place to gather that honors its rich legacy, which has monitored Denver's pulse for over 100 years.

It's a private club for journalists and beyond and the oldest press club in the country! I was absolutely amazed by the old school charm and the swanky bar on the second floor. Don't forget to take a tour of the basement poker room also. There is history in every corner throughout the building from the typewriters, names of "deadline room", "poet's corner", etc. to all the notable journalists cartoon portraits on the wall. Security was severely lacking, and the single "security guard" did little to make anyone feel safe. Mall cop presence... They also prohibit women from bringing pepper spray despite the obvious safety concerns in the area. I now understand why I was warned not to attend concerts here prior to attending. I sincerely hope they take security seriously before someone is seriously hurt here.
