Sunday, July 23rd, 2023 - Firepit
Elena N.

Date: Sunday, July 23rd, 2023 Time: around 5:45pm Party of: 3 - turned into 4 later What: Pre Dinner Drinks The hubby and I were staying at the Sandcastle Hotel. Figured we may as well check out the bar. Plus, he knows I like firepits. Luckily, we were able to grab the seats in front of the outdoor fireplace. I can't recall the beverages we had, but I'm pretty sure the hubs got a pour of some kind of whisky / scotch. I probably tried a cocktail and maybe did the same thing as him afterwards. Or even had a glass of bubbles. My girlfriend ended up grabbing a tea since we had been out all day drinking at wineries. Cute place to grab a drink or two and chill by the fire while enjoying a view of the beach. REVIEW #3436

The location, service and value are excellent. You'll want to tip more after you've left-we definitely did!

The view

Stopped by for drinks since it was open to the public. The drinks are very expensive, but you're really paying for the view, which is incredible. Would come again just for that. Bartender mad a virgin margarita too lol

Stopped by for the fire pits! Both the interior and exterior are decorated nicely and are clean. We ended up getting a panini... which was essentially just a toasted sandwich. Taste was good but definitely not worth the $14. Portion was tiny. Worker had an airpod in but was super attentive. Seats were a bit wet but it was so early in the morning that it was understandable. At least the view was nice!

The deck had the perfect patio sitting with front row beach views...but where it came up short was the food. I was under the impression that their waffle would be freshly made, but when it was delivered to me it was in a to go box and it tasted cold. Almost as if they under microwaved the frozen waffle...

Hummus, caprese flatbread and guac

We stayed at the Sandcastle Hotel and went to The Deck for dinner. The view is 5 stars. The cocktails are sugary and not super strong but i think they are meant to be fun drinks to be enjoyed looking at the waves by the water and not artisanal cocktails. We tried the tomato hummus- it was pretty delicious. The Caprese Flatbread was my favorite. The red velvet cake slice and the chips and salsa were okay as well. For being on the beach with a fire pit, the menu is pretty well priced. Gorgeous sunset from the table!

What can I say. You just can't beat the views. I stop by the deck on my last visit to Pismo Beach and it was a wonderful experience it was a nice place to just hang out enjoy a nice cuppa coffee and enjoy a beautiful sunset over Pismo Beach. The area was very well-kept furniture was clean I didn't notice any trash and the staff was very welcoming.

Stopped in for the nice view. The food was good. Nice atmosphere. I'll be back again one day!

$8.00 worth of bacon

Disappointed At first I was excited to see they had Starbucks coffee but artificial creamer was disgusting. Food options were limited and expensive. You had to order online. Bacon was cold, looked precooked. Burrito was lukewarm.

Right next to the beach. I turned on the fire pit.

Classic rock music was being played throughout the bar as we had a quick game of pool. The place started filling up with people after we'd been there for about half an hour. Apparently Karaoke night is a big thing here for the locals, because people were stepping up to the mic and killing it!They don't serve any kind of food here, but they do allow you to bring your own food in. However, during this recent visit, we did not feel welcomed. When my wife and I approached the front desk for check‑in, the older female employee working the reception (possibly named Debbie or starting with a "D") told us she had not called us yet, even though it was clearly our turn in line. I apologized and stepped back, and only a few seconds later she did not greet us instead up front asked if we had a reservation. From the beginning, her demeanor toward us felt unfriendly and dismissive. We had booked an Ocean View King with a patio, but we were assigned a fourth‑floor room on the east wing of the hotel with only a partial ocean view and a strong smell of urine. it turns out this area of the building are pet friendly. We returned to the front desk, waited again, and when she called us over with "What's up," I explained the issue. She was quiet for a moment, then reassigned us to the main building second‑floor room above the reception area and informed us that no patio rooms were available. Her behavior throughout the check‑in process was discouraging and made us feel unwelcome, which was disappointing--especially considering we spent over $850 for a two‑night stay. However, a part from this staff issue, Seacrest is a great place to stay, the complementary breakfast is great! but yes that one staff was not the greatest...

There was a private event taking place, so we couldn't sit in the main area, but we assumed the staff would be able to locate us based on where we had scanned. We were later told that our server had spent 20 minutes looking for us before calling. By the time the food and drinks arrived, the food was soggy and the drinks were watered down. Given how difficult it was for staff to access the area in the first place, there wasn't much that could be done to fix the situation, so we accepted it and ate what we could. As it got later, we decided to return for one more drink and a snack. However, when I ordered a Diet Coke at the bar, the bartender asked for my ID. I explained that I didn't have it on me but offered to show a photo of it or go back to retrieve the physical ID. I understand the importance of checking identification and respect that staff have policies to follow, but I was surprised that neither option was acceptable and that we were told we couldn't sit at the bar. We were on our honeymoon, and what should have been a relaxing evening turned into a frustrating experience. We ultimately decided not to order any food and left after finishing one beer and a Diet Coke. I understand that the initial food delivery involved a misunderstanding, and I'm not upset that staff have to follow ID policies. However, the combination of the two experiences and the lack of flexibility left us disappointed and really put a damper on our evening.

An Unforgettable Birthday Dinner with Breathtaking Ocean Views!…read more We came to Ventana Grill in Pismo Beach for a Sunday night dinner date to celebrate my wife's birthday. This place definitely gets packed, so I highly recommend reserving a table in advance. We were lucky enough to get a window seat, and the outdoor patio views of the ocean are simply amazing! On top of that, the staff here has definitely become even more friendly--our server, Zach, was super efficient and attentive throughout our meal. The food was incredible from start to finish: * Mahi Mahi Fish Ceviche: We started with this alongside fresh tortilla chips, and it was honestly one of the best ceviches we've ever had. * Clam Chowder Soup: This special clam chowder came served with Parmesan cheese bread, which was absolute perfection. Again, hands down one of the best soups we've tasted! * Molcajete Surtido: For our main dish, we ordered this classic feast loaded with grilled colossal shrimp, arrachera steak, chicken breast, chorizo, spring onion, jalapeño peppers, nopalitos, avocado, pork rinds, molcajete salsa, queso fresco, and corn tortillas, served with a side of rice and beans. All the meats were so tender and flavorful, and the rice and beans were really nice. We were so full that we didn't even get to touch the tortillas! To top off a wonderful evening, they brought out a complimentary ice cream with a candle to celebrate my wife's birthday, which was such a thoughtful and sweet touch.
