while the views are great the food is absolutely a letdown, especially for the cost. We got a $15 pina colada served to us in a plastic cup with a straw, a frozen pizza from a grocery aisle for $20 and a $16 tacos which tasted like cardboard. 'The Deck' is a bistro located inside 'Sandcastle Hotel' on the beach. There's a counter to place your order, plenty of seating inside, and an amazing beachfront patio with fire pit. They serve quick bites such as 'Breakfast Bagels, Croissants, Burritos, Paninis, Hummus, Street Tacos, Flatbread, Chips n' Salsa, and more'. Their beverage menu consists of Starbucks drinks like Coffee, Espresso, Acais...also Beer, Cocktails, and Wine. Service was great. Figured we may as well check out the bar. Plus, he knows I like firepits. Luckily, we were able to grab the seats in front of the outdoor fireplace. I can't recall the beverages we had, but I'm pretty sure the hubs got a pour of some kind of whisky / scotch. I probably tried a cocktail and maybe did the same thing as him afterwards. Or even had a glass of bubbles. My girlfriend ended up grabbing a tea since we had been out all day drinking at wineries. Stopped by for the fire pits! Both the interior and exterior are decorated nicely and are clean. We ended up getting a panini... which was essentially just a toasted sandwich. Taste was good but definitely not worth the $14. Portion was tiny. Worker had an airpod in but was super attentive. Seats were a bit wet but it was so early in the morning that it was understandable. Do not waste your time or money. Overpriced, nothing fresh, out of product but told after you purchase and always closes early.

Price says $5 for a hot chocolate. Rings up as $5.50 plus tax so $5.95. Asked the guy why it was $5.95. He said, "Tax". Tried to explain again the tax was only $0.45 so it should be $5.45. "Tax", he said again. "Yeah" I said, "but the board said the hot chocolate costs $5.00 not $5.50." Again..."tax". Nice guy but clueless and the place charges more than they advertise. We stayed at the Sandcastle Hotel and went to The Deck for dinner. The view is 5 stars. The cocktails are sugary and not super strong but i think they are meant to be fun drinks to be enjoyed looking at the waves by the water and not artisanal cocktails. We tried the tomato hummus- it was pretty delicious. The Caprese Flatbread was my favorite. The red velvet cake slice and the chips and salsa were okay as well. For being on the beach with a fire pit, the menu is pretty well priced. Gorgeous sunset from the table! read more

I stop by the deck on my last visit to Pismo Beach and it was a wonderful experience it was a nice place to just hang out enjoy a nice cuppa coffee and enjoy a beautiful sunset over Pismo Beach. I just came by for a beer. Rating is based on my overall experience from being there and how I felt when leaving. This place is right next to the beach and part of the Sandcastle Hotel. Came in for breakfast. We had the avacado toast, $11. It was 4 teeny tiny slices of warmed up baguette. Instead of avacado, there was a very thin spread of what appeared to be trader Joe guacamole. It was so thin I could barely taste it. I am a very light eater and was left starving. My husband had the egg skillet with bacon. Didn't come with toast or hasbrowns, $16. It was just the scrambled eggs and bacon. We ate an hour ago and have to go get lunch now. read more

Very simple menu, prices are $12 or less, service is excellent. The ladies are very freindly. The tables and floor are very clean. I saw the ladies use gloves preparing the food. The view is gorgeous from the deck. Really nice deck furniture. I really love how everything is sanitary and clean.The rug is vacuumed and floor is very well mopped. This is a kid freindly place to eat too. I appreciate the kids toys and and games on the table.My son enjoyed the jenga and checkers which matched the color scheme of the dining and deck area. Back a year later...still nothing but regular milk. Why??? Many people can not tolerate dairy. I'm very unhappy this is what I got (bf got it for me while I stayed in the hotel room), told the machine already has only regular milk in it. If that's the case, carry soy separately to put in with the espresso that comes out of this deficient machine. I wasn't crazy about this hotel and now I'm fuming mad. We came here tonight for the restaurant month special for $25 including a glass of wine, cheese and charcuterie and a dessert. Upon arrival, a post-it note at the cashier informed us that the server will return at 6:30. Around 6:40, the friendly server finally appeared to take our order. Unfortunately, they were out of the restaurant month special, although it was widely advertised and we got here on a non-busy Wednesday night. We decided for flatbreads and a glass of wine instead, they had a Paso Robles Eberle Pinot on tap, as well as a Cabernet from Ink Works. Not the best selection, but decent wines. The goat cheese and croque monsieur flatbreads for $14 each were very good with plenty of topping. The outdoor seating is gorgeous and definitely worth the trip, I just hope they iron out the "just opened" issues and make sure they have advertised items in stock. Also, I recommend blankets for the outdoor area! I'll be back when it's warmer and definitely give them another try, today however we felt the growing pains. read more

I ordered the breakfast burrito. It looked like it just got taken out of a freezer wrapper and thrown in an oven. It was still a little cold. The cold brew coffee has a little bit of sulfur taste. They obviously use tap water to make their cold brew, because if you shower there you can smell the water and the coffee tastes like it.. giving it two stars, because the staff and location are nice. But don't waste your time or money on the burrito or coffee Go somewhere else for that. read more

It is a bit stingey and comes with no toast or any other side. I think the price is reasonable, particularly given the great location. An option for a full breakfast would be nice. As a policy, I don't write bad reviews. I would much rather uplift business that are doing a great job and stay silent on the ones that aren't. Having said that, I would be remiss if I didn't warn you to never eat at The Deck unless you find yourself dying from starvation and unable to take another step on the Pismo Beach strand (and even in that instance, death could potentially be preferable). The food is what one could expect from a vending machine on an off-day at a criminally high price point. The coffee was offensively bad. On a positive note, the ambiance is nice, so if you wanna just grab a drink and have a seat, you might have a good time, but whatever you do, for the love of god, don't order any food. read more

Stayed the night here at Sandcastle Hotel and decided to order some food at the Deck and sit out at the patio to catch some sun before heading out to dinner. Ordered the blackberry mule and margarita. Drinks were ok, tasted more like juice than a cocktail for our liking. We ordered the nachos without the meat to be vegetarian friendly and the sun dried tomato hummus. I think they forgot the sun dried tomatoes and the pita was a bit crispy for our liking. Nachos were ok too. Nothing stood out about the food or drinks but the view was a killer!! Maybe because of covid, I'm not sure but they also didn't have any plates for us to share the food, so we just ripped the lids off of the Togo containers the food was served in and used that as our plates. read more
