This bar is shit. The bartender is super rude and so is the manager. They don't know how to treat their customers. Do not recommend going.

Great bartenders. Overpriced drinks, extremely tacky interior that resembles a cheaper version of a Joe's Crab Shack. The owner is extremely abrasive and impatient. They scan ID's with an app off an iPad. Although the owner insists on having plenty of police security there. The man needs a haircut as well. I'm sorry the BOY needs a haircut. They rip you off by making you purchase a "membership card" when in reality it's just a quick way for them to make an extra $5 off of you. I would not recommend this bar to my worst enemy. I'm tempted to contact the Better Business Bureau. Solely because I refused to leave said bar after voicing my opinion on their lack of character and professionalism and the owner screamed at me. Yet I still honored him with my patronage. Do not go to this horrible bar. And once more Mr. Owner whatever your name is. Get a haircut or just move to Florida. read more

The Deck is a unique and friendly establishment. The bands that play there are talented and always sound good. I think the yearly $5 membership is more than reasonable for a place that has a live band and the outdoor setting is a welcome break from your average bar but they do have an inside bar as well. This place seems to attract patrons of all ages and has very eclectic decor. They do not serve food but there is often a food truck outside and several eateries less than a block away. I often see folks celebrating birthdays here or having class reunions. Great Spot, I'd recommend this place to anyone :) read more

I grew up in Jamestown and return home a few times a year. Often I meet up with friends in Jamestown and pop into The Deck. I have been going since before they were even a bar. I remember when they first started the Membership fees and at the time I bought what they said was a Lifetime Membership. I never received a card from them for this membership. Now every time I go I am told I need to pay $5 for a membership. I think the owner has gotten very greedy and lost sight of the fact that he is in a small town with local guest. I have been in the establishment many times, served drinks and hang out with friends even in during the time frame that "membership is required" but they have been really strict about this lately. You must have a membership card to order now but the servers tell you that you can have a photo of it on your phone. The system is quite flawed and I think they are turning away local patrons at this point. I personally know that some of the bartenders short pour you even if you pay for a double they pour singles to try to make more profit. Again this is all greed. I have also heard many bad things about the owner from bands that have previously played at The Deck because he pays them so poorly! I hate that these are the complaints I have about an establishment that at one point didn't even want to be a bar. Now that they are succeeding they want to take advantage of their guest! When you start turning away people that were born and raised in Jamestown you are losing out on your small target market!! My wife and I love the Deck!! We came to see live music this weekend and were blown away! Yes, there is a 5 dollar annual membership, but it lasts for the whole year. Drinks were great, staff was great, and the atmosphere was one of a kind. Our first time was this past Thursday and honestly, I could not disagree more with the other review that we read about it. I came by myself to check it out and Neil could not have been more welcoming. I just happened to be in the room while he was trying to please these 3 young women and was surprised that he was able to be so professional with them treating him so disrepectfully. Don't let an inaccurate review stop you from checking this place out! I'll be telling everyone I know about this hidden gem in Jamestown! read more

No parking for the establishment. 5 cars towed tonight that parked next door. Be sure to catch a cab here. . 1.50 for ice water. They don't tell u this until your bill arrives. Tried to challenge this tonight...$3 for water but they basically said too bad sad you have to pay it anyway. Mean trick. 6.50 for a shot of Malibu rum. Really?? It's just mid shelf liquor. Me thinks this place is quite proud of its mediocre self in Jamestown. The band was great but I can see them somewhere else that is less pompous. Even Potent Potables across the street is more welcoming or even Southern Roots. They have the same bands and a delicious menu reasonable drink prices to go with it. After having a few drinks at one bar, my friends and I decided to go hop over to "The Deck" last night. We got there a little late, the band was finishing up their set. But it was still crowded. Mostly with people in their early 20s I'd say. Im 34 so felt like I was one of the oldest there. But everyone seemed in good spirits, I played a game of cornhole and enjoyed a glass of wine. Very laid back and lots of places to roam around there. I def which it was closer to wear I live in Greensboro. I would give this place 5 stars except the men didn't have a bathroom. Only a outhouse. Come one now.. Not so classy, Esp if you read GQ magazine. read more

The place is great as far as the setting. It could be a fun, local place to go, but the service is below average at best. The front area servers seem to like their jobs more. It may be because they're not as outnumbered. The back bar seems to be so crowded, the servers can't keep up and take their frustration out on the customers. For this reason, I would give it at best 2 stars. read more

A great place for live music and fun with friends. Always a great crowd and atmosphere. I love the booths outside with the candlelight.

You have to dial a number to order food, which I found kind of odd, but the service didn't take that long to arrive. The bacon cheese fries were good and definitely filling. Bartender was friendly and the seating with the fake turf was kind of unique. I definitely wouldn't come here for the food but it's probably a somewhat cool place to have drinks in the evening (I only came for lunch). read more

I visited this place one time with my girlfriend. Took Uber there and home. When we got there I really liked this place. We had a few drinks and had a great time. And then, right out of the blue the bartender told my girlfriend that I was cut off. Still to this day. We have no idea why. It surely wasn't me. I was just getting started. My first drink of the night was there. We may have been there for an hour to an hour and a half. My friend ordered another drink while we waited for Uber outside. I took one sip and some D-bag came and took the drink from her. Yeah she paid for that one. Needless to say we and any friend I can stop will never go back. Horrible customer service.!!!!! Arrived at the Deck at River Twist last night around 10pm. Parked in a lot in the rear walked up a few stairs and into the establishment. The place was packed. There was a great band playing called TCU...I think. Anyway, the hubby and I headed straight for the dance floor. We danced for over an hour. The band ended at 11pm. I told the hubby lets walk around and check the place out before we leave. This is where it gets interesting. Some random lady walks up to the hubby and I and says this is a private club you can't come in here. I said "EXCUSE ME" we have been in here for over an hour. She repeats "YOU CAN'T COME IN HERE". The hubby grabbed my hand and we headed to our car because it wasn't worth it!! Just disrespectful and unprofessional. Who would think that in 2014 people are still being told they can't come in somewhere. BTW, there website says nothing about being a private club. Guess we had the wrong skin color. read more

My friend and i were just going out for drinks and decided to come to the deck for the first time. As we walked in there were 1000 signs but we only read a few that were saying the specials and directions. We went up to the bartender and gave him our IDs and he asked if we were members, i told him no and asked how much it would be to join this "private club" he said $5 and i asked if he was joking... i mean... let's be real. Anyway he decided to be rude and said, did you not read any of the signs it says it everywhere. Well sir no i didn't read your millions of signs because frankly i just wanted a dang beer, also reading some of these reviews it seems like y'all need to re-evaluate this "private club" there are so many people in jamestown who would love a nice bar to come but y'all have made me not want to come back. I always thought this was a hole in the wall type of place. the bathrooms are disgusting and if it wasn't for the christmas lights decor, i can't imagine what it looks like in the daytime!! we really went there to support some of the bands actually but after this past weekend, we probably would NEVER go back. Us girls kicked out for what i believe for no reason beside discrimination and when we questioned the bouncer, he said the bartender said so. as classy as we are, we walked out. the last thing we want to do is show our ass. I wrote a review on fb only to get BS from the bouncer and the owner. on top of that, bunch of nonsense lies that he accused us of doing like " bad mouthy" or how we were cut off from the bar when the bartender served us drinks and took our money still!! I feel sorry for some of the band's that continue to book w this place. also after noticing how the owner is attacking bad raters on fb, I wouldn't recommend anyome to give this owner another dime! read more

$5 for a membership is not bad at all. The ambience is good. However the staff is horrible and the owner is a douche lord. He Has people help him with events and then says I'll pay u, or I got u covered. Then gives them a t-shirt for their hard work and doesn't even give them a free beer. Sometimes the staff almost wants to pick a fight with someone who's been drinking all night. It's a shame. This place could be awesome if it wasn't for the people who worked their. Alright so this is my second time at The Deck and I'm here for my sorority's date party. The same exact situation happened to me tonight that happened at Limelight in Greensboro where the bartender wouldn't serve me a cup of water and said I had to pay $2 for a bottle. I have no issue for paying for water anywhere else but every time I've tried to get a water at a bar, the bartenders are absolutely miserable about it. They lie and say "the water on tap is broken" and when I ask to speak to a manager they say "he's really busy right now but come back tomorrow." It's absolutely ridiculous that I would have to argue about getting a free cup of water that I would drink at the bar and give back, so any bar that pulls this is absolutely terrible in my eyes. I was having a great time at The Deck up until this point so it's sad that they had to ruin my experience with something as dumb as a free cup of water. If you come here, don't try to get any water otherwise you'll be paying for something that should be a complimentary beverage for a paying customer. read more

My buddy had been and told me about it. I didn't know what I was walking back to but it was very different once we got back there. Great band and awesome atmosphere; I haven't been to a place quite like it. I would give it 5 stars but bar service was slow and drink selection wasn't great. BS, having a good time playing shuffle board when we asked them to turn the gas heaters over our heads (no one else's). The Ftard 20 something said that someone else would ask to turn it back on??? Asked everyone around us and everyone said it was cool (70 degrees???). No dice, basically "deal with it" from the 20 somethings running the show. Tried to turn it off ourselves and was later told we were cut off! Then spoke to the "owner" and tried to explain what happened and he "tapped his flashlight on the counter". And we were asked to leave. I own a bar and treating everyone like a drunken idiot may not be your best first move. Shame on a cool little place in a cool little town treating civilized customers that way. No no no. read more

I have been down to The Deck at River Twist on a Fri or Sat night now twice and loved it both times. A very cool atmosphere to watch great local bands. It's like watching a small concert while you sit in an antique store. The food was great, the drinks are a fair price. They charge a $5 cover for guys, girls are free which I also think is really reasonable. This is probably the best place to watch good music, enjoy some adult beverages and just relax in the GSO area. You have to check out the The Deck. SUPER COOL! read more

After an epicurean delight at Southern Roots, our party of 3 sixtyish couples headed over to the deck. The $5.00 menmership fee was paid which only took half an hour. Finally inside , sort of, we only had to wait 20 minutes for drinks. We found a spot in the far right rear corner & it was great. Apparently the membership fee does not include servers, never saw 1. A nice gentleman apparently unable to speak came over and removed our drinks from the shuffleboard table. Sorry , I had been admiring the thought of its potential beauty Thinking the entire time, what a horrible location for this decaying piece of bar game history. Again, sorry about setting drinks on it. The bands first set much better at intermission. Was looking forward to the second "groove" set . Wanted shots, but forgot, no servers, one of our party went to the bar, but, everyone having shots had to report to the bar. We arrived at the bar, served shots, and the person buying was deemed over served though gladly accepted her $ for everyone else's. Overall, an underwhelming entertainment experience BUT, absolutely the best, hilarious, time ever for these ,sixty something , educated, grandparents TO GET KICKED OUT. The Deck is a unique and quirky little place that is a lot of fun for hanging out, dancing, and having a good time. There are some great bands there, but they do drive a bigger crowd which can make the place feel claustrophobic, even being outside. My only complaints are the LONG lines at the bar and restrooms. This could easily be fixed by adding a satellite bar in the smoking section and a few more LIGHTED porta johns. Women need to see to pee. Otherwise, I enjoy myself when there. read more
