Imagine turning 21 and being excited to use your ID everywhere, then coming to this establishment and being accused of trying to sneak in with no ID. The man in the front who checks ID's wasn't doing his job and instead of being outside, was inside mingling with customers. Do I stand outside waiting in the cold? No.. I went inside to get what I came for- some drinks. The security man then wobbled over to me and my boyfriend to accuse us of running away from him to avoid getting carded..? Although we were ID ready, his nasty attitude and the way he tried to "out" us in front of everyone to put more attention on us was unacceptable, unprofessional, and they haven't gotten my service since. The Corner Bar is your classic dive bar--it's not somewhere you'd plan a night out with friends, but it's the kind of spot you might stumble upon and decide to stay. The service is solid; the bartenders are friendly and quick. While they don't serve food, they do offer free pool tables, a jukebox where you can pick your own music, and public restrooms. It's not the cleanest bar, nor the most popular or aesthetically pleasing, but I keep coming back for the affordable drinks and the chance to meet new people. CORNER BAR on Spring Garden Street, Greensboro NC. My BLACK friend was denied entry all because he was wearing a very presentable sweat jumpsuit while there was a WHITE woman sitting at the bar wearing the exact same thing. I asked the security upfront (heavy set long brown hair and beard) why he was denied entry but she can wear the exact thing, and all he could say was "because she gains attention and will order drinks, plus he could be part of a gang". Mind you, what he was wearing was just a regular sweat jumpsuit with nothing profane on it or anything that remotely resembled gang activity. Why would you think he's part of a gang wearing that?? I have been inside that bar wearing my three piece biker vest numerous times and for some reason you accept my service but denied his service cause he's wearing a sweat jumpsuit?? After my wife argued with the security, he laughed in her face calling her a WHORE and embarrassed my friend in front of the ENTIRE bar. And it dawned on me, I looked around that entire bar and realized that it is a very white bar on a street that is filled with minorities from all over. I came on Karaoke Night, not only was the DJ late she showed favoritism and allowed people who got there late to skip on the list.... I sung 2 songs and she sung 3 totally unprofessional thing to do as a DJ... ***the Bartenders were AMAZING*** but I wont come back for their Karaoke Night. The old Karaoke DJ was amazing this one needs to learn how to be fair and impartial she lost out on a $10 tip (I know that's not a whole lot but she was asking people to tip all night) *** So this is my tip*** Show up on time and if you have a list follow it according to the order in which people signed up and dont skip people who got there and signed up (one song at a time) to sing songs in order. And NEVER be the DJ that has to sing more than the customers. (She literally sung the last song of the night with a list of people she skipped..smh!!!) read more

A hole in the wall great place! Visited this place for my birthday celebration and let me tell you it was a treat. Although the place is on the trashy side, it is certainly a fun place. The bar has pool, ping pong and other games as well. The best experience for me was the bartender. On my birthday the bartender was awesome! I wish I could remember his name but if you are reading this thank you! I had a lot of fun here and would like to go back another time to drink and play pool! Kenny is the sweetest guy ever and Decker makes sure you're taken care of. I haven't been in in awhile because I live farther away, but when I am there I feel like family. One time Kenny special ordered something just for me because he heard me talking about it! Decker always checks up on me. Fun little family hole in the wall bar that has things like karaoke and bingo and you can rent the bar for events! The best is when they close the parking lot down for something and it's a big party. A number of years ago they did a fundraiser for someone with cancer and it was amazing. You wouldn't think that people who own or run a bar would have big hearts, but these guys do! read more

A really fun dive in Greensboro--they expanded not too long ago, so you can usually find a good seat at the bar. It's a dive, but does seem a bit cleaner and friendlier than some of the others in the area (ie that foul hell hole, Mother Tuckers). It's not really a place I go to party or anything of that sort, but more a place to start/finish the night, or sink into an increasingly drunken conversation with a friend or two that I haven't caught up with in a while. I've been a couple of times, and in addition to the really great drink specials, the bartenders were friendly and even offered me some free food. This is a place that will be greatly helped by the new smoking ban going into effect in the new year. The ventilation is terrible, but hopefully when you're not clearing out the entire contents of a Marlboro box. Decent college bar that caters exactly to that. Three dollars for cheap bottled beer and that touch video game where you tell the difference between clothes worn by nearly naked models mean you can spend hours effectively here. FYI, you may not wear your sunglasses in this establishment. I saw a patron be put out for wearing them inside. when the patron asked "may I ask why"? they were given a response of No. Asked how constitutionally they could do this? Was told to leave, had to leave drink that had just been bought. It ended with paton just walking out with no more verbal exchanges between the two. There was no backpack, packages or coat to reveal or conceal any kind of weapon. There was no hostile verbal exchanges etc. with other patrons or bartendars. Pretty nice spot to grab a Miller Lite. Kat and Decker know how to serve em just right. They also have billiards, ping pong, connect 4, shuffle board, and Big Buck Hunt. I heard if you mention Kenny's name they will even let you leave your dry cleaning there. read more

Nice local place with a cool crowd. Everyone is different and perfect in their own way. No matter what you're wearing you'll fit in. Saturday/Karaoke night is really fun. I had an unfortunate encounter at this bar. A good friend of mine was disappointed in her drink and asked for a different bartender to make it for her. Being so offended by this request the bartender told the bouncer to kick my friend out because he couldn't handle that while working. I would not suggest this as a weekend spot for Greensboro. read more

I am a regular at this bar as it has karaoke two nights a week, Wed & Sat. I am always greeted by friendly bartenders who know what I drink and serve me as I am seated. It can get a little loud sometimes but that is part of its charm. Great crowd which ebbs and flows all night. Give it a try! read more
