We've been going here for 3 years now. Since my daughter was old enough to join at 3 years old. She is now just about to do her 3rd recital and we are so excited. She loves dance, and even wants to put a ballet bar in her room which I thought was so cute. This studio is a great tucked away gem. It's good pricing, monthly fee, no contract. The 3-5 age group does the ballet/tap combo, my daughters favorite being ballet. I don't do the summer classes since they can be crowded but the normal class times are much quieter and relaxed environment. I always shop for my dance items next door to support this small business as well. I've always been treated nice and with a smile, my daughter Kai loves her dance teachers and can't even leave without extra hugs. Next year I plan to have her go twice a week to develop her skill more so I'm going to look into that further. Thank you for three great years so far! We travel about 25 minutes to get here, when we would be going to closer studios. read more

I grew up dancing at this studio and can definitely say this place is amazing. The instructors treat you like family and your child will make so many lifelong friends. I started dancing at this studio around the age of 4 and continued dancing here into my 20s. They are not a typical studio that makes everything about competition or being perfect but they do push you to improve. This place made my childhood/adolescence such a fun time. I like to find things to do that just sound fun. Perhaps will be good for photos, but mostly that they're different and entertaining. One day, a Google Offer came upon my email for Aerial Dancing.... um, that sounds perfect. I called to make reservations for my friend and I on a Saturday over the phone with Mark, who was the nicest person ever to converse with. He informed me the class we would be taking would be a taste of what they have to offer for aerial dance and it would be 90 minutes. He suggested a sports bra under a shirt that covers our armpits to prevent silk burns and because we'd be upside down. Upside down? This already sounds cool! He also suggested tights, yoga pants, or leggings that go beyond the knee due to potential silk burns. Why do silk burns suddenly sound so badass to me right now? The studio was over on the side of a strip mall and the inside looks a little old. But after we checked in, we sat outside the glass and watched the girls in the (very advanced!) class before us twisting and twirling up and down the silk and we were in awe. Our class consisted of 5 total students, which was the perfect shade of small. Our two instructors led us in some stretches to some top 40s hits until it was time to start on... the TRAPEZE?! I had no clue trapeze was included in this! Bewildered and excited, we learned about three cool looking (and low-hanging) tricks that made me wish I'd done some arm curls for the month prior, after which we moved on to the silk fabric suspended from the ceiling. We learned how to stand in the silks (mid-air, mind you) and do a few poses and an easy trick. It was so much fun! At the end, we got to go back and work on anything we wanted to go over again... or just do some tricks and take pictures. Fabulous! The prices seem reasonable and a consistant class would be an amazing workout. I loved this so much! Unlike me, if you decide to do aerial dancing, STRETCH AND EXERCISE YOUR UPPER BODY. My arms were pretty much useless for about a week after, not that I really cared. I'd do it again in a heartbeat! read more

My youngest (7yo) attends here - and we just finished up our first year here. The difference that sets this place apart from the others are the people. Everyone from the owners to the employees really care about making the experience for your child an exceptional one. Always willing to help and go the extra mile needed to assist in whatever way they can. We just had the "final" performance of the year for the dance studio, and man was I impressed. The "little" kid performances were cute, the older kids performances were great, and the teen/adult performances were awesome! We had grandma, grandpa, and an aunt out to see our kid perform.... and actually ended up staying for the whole thing because it was so good. read more

I can recommend The Dance Shoppe as one of the highest quality dance studios for kids in the north valley. My daughter has attended the combo classes as little girl( age 3)l , tap classes as she got older and now hip hop (age 9 ). The classes are well organized with teachers that appear to really enjoy what they are doing. The kids learn dance terms, moves and expectations. While not the fanciest place , don't let the looks fool you. They know how to make it all come together and your child will shine. I have know a few families that have several kids attending other classes, at higher levels of technique and everyone raves about the professionalism and quality of the owners. We have attending several end of the year dance recitals and they are really well produced , choreographed and very enjoyable. My sister and I were really excited for her daughter to join this class. It's all she has been taking about since she turned 3. We went to the first class and just chalked it up to being a "new" experience. Although my niece was every bit of engaged. The dance instructor was young but I thought she knew what she was doing. Fast forward to week 2. The instructor couldn't care any less about any of the kids in her class. Ok get in a line, while I hold your hand and not even pay attention to what you're doing. It's incredibly frustrating. I guess you pay for quality and this place is not it. My niece hasn't learned anything, but to get in a line with the other girls and wait for the teacher to hold your hand. read more

Our granddaughter who we've been raising for the past ten + years has been taking lessons from The Dance Shoppe for eight years now, and we've been extremely pleased the whole time. She's taken ballet, tap, hip-hop, jazz, and musical theater and has learned a lot in each of there disciplines. She has been in musical theater for four years now and loves it. All of the teachers and staff are pleasant to work with and patient with the students. The owners of The Dance Shoppe are extremely nice along with being very experienced, and Mark is an incredible person. Very giving and kind. Couldn't find a nicer person. The store has a large selection of dance related shoes, clothing, and accessories. Recitals are the real deal. Very well thought out and executed. Everyone here that I worked with was incredibly sweet and helpful. I had my 5 year old daughter in for a year with them and the recital is coming up. I liked that they choose modest outfits and were very family friendly. I just was Impressed that many adults that brought their children to the same class had attended the dance Shoppe when they were children. I think that really speaks well of the studio. The atmosphere is very relaxed, at least for my daughter's class, which I liked, but at the end of the year, I had hoped for a little more progress in her dance skills, hence 4/5 stars. read more

The Dance Shoppe is a wonderful dance studio. The classes are taught by fantastic teachers that are professional and care about the students. The recitals are very organized and extremely entertaining. I love that the costumes and dances are age appropriate and not sleazy or inappropriate. I wanted so bad to love this place. I found an offer on Groupon and before I made the purchase I called to let them know what Groupon I was reviewing and I wanted to see what time the classes are offered at. At the time the classes were offered on Tuesday at 8 and on Saturdays, I was told that after June 19th the classes would be on Thursdays at 8 and on Saturdays. I purchased the Groupon and I called in July to schedule my classes and unfortunately, they were all full. I then called back in August and was scheduled to start on the 10th, I talked to two different people that told me I could do the Thursday class and the second person I spoke with I typed up the Groupon codes and emailed them (there was 5 of us going) she scheduled us and I thought we were good to go. I then received a call a few days later informing me that they have moved us all to Saturday because the owner would like Groupons to be scheduled on Saturday. I informed the person I was speaking with that this would not work for me, as I work Saturdays, which is why I called before hand to make sure I could do this on a weeknight. I am really disappointed that we couldn't have worked something out, now I have paid for a service that I can not use. I was looking forward to getting into a routine with a place like this close to home. read more

After taking three adult beginning classes for three weeks I began looking for a new studio. This is the most affordable studio in the area but I spent more time standing around waiting in that class than I did practicing. Seems a bit disorganized. I purchased my own silk and have improved more in a week than I did there in a month practicing the same amount of hours. This studio is built more towards children. read more

My three year old has been going here for little over 9 months now. The transformation I have seen in her confidence can definitely be attributed to the teaching in her combo class! I could honestly say that I love the dance shoppe. I have been dancing there ever since I was three years old. Right now I am going on to my 11th year at the dance shoppe. I never want to quit! The dance shoppe Has GREAT choreographers that are nice and that can help you with anything you need to make you a better dancer. It has been there for me for many years and also for my family. I highly suggest if you want to go to a great dance studio in Arizona the dance shoppe is number 1. I love it and want to keep with it and improve more and more.
