What a special little gem in Hico! 2nd Street is so much more than a coffee spot. It's a place where people can gather, connect, and help support those who may need a little extra kindness and generosity. Knowing that something as simple as stopping for a cup of coffee can help pour back into the community makes the experience that much sweeter. Great coffee, delicious bread, wonderful people, and an even better purpose. Definitely worth a stop when you're in Hico!

My wife and I were on our way home from Glen Rose, TX and decided to stop by for some breakfast…read moreto-go. The name on Yelp of this restaurant needs to be changed to "2nd Street Social." It's right next door to where the address on the Yelp Page will take you, but it is formerly the "Bakeshop." The staff mentioned to us the former building/house was being renovated to become an AirBnB or something. We were looking forward to patio seating given we had our pup with us, but the restaurant didn't have any, so we opted for drive-thru. The restaurant itself has a small parking lot. The woman who took our order was very kind and informative, as mentioned previously. I ordered an "Iced Latte with White Chocolate" and ordered the "Breakfast Burrito," which contained sausage, scrambled eggs, and cheese. The latte was good, creamy and sweet with the WC flavoring. The burrito was also good, not amazing, but good! I should have ordered 2 of them, it wasn't too big, so keep that in mind. The cheese was melted inside and the sausage was super flavorful. There was a section of my burrito in which the sausage was actually cold, which took me by surprise, but other than that it was good. Pricing was decent for what we ordered. We would come back if we were driving through again!!

There appeared to be team of three staff 1 - kitchen, 1- drive thru, and 1- front counter. While it is a small town, I didn't think it was too busy. However, we did wait a long time at the counter. The drive thru staff acknowledged us and had to tell the front counter staff to take our order. Once our order was taken, the food came out quickly. The food presentation was promising. We ordered two Double Meat Belt Buster Combos one with fries and other with onion rings. Unfortunately, the meat patties were overly salted! Due to the amount of salt, we couldn't finish our burgers. The cost of the food with drinks was $27.77. As always if you find yourself in Clifton, Texas stop by Dairy Queen to give it a try for yourself.

Nachos were disappointing. The chicken was seasoned so I'd say above average. The portion was large. But the cheese seemed canned. No peppers or onions. No sour cream, salsa, or guacamole. Patty melt was ok. Meat was a little chewey and bread was toasted but not flavorful. I will say that if you want pie. I watched a dozen carry out orders. Also admitted one of tallest meringues I've ever seen. We just weren't in mood for pie. Service was ok. My water was empty for about 1/4 of my meal. They were it overwhelmed and had numerous empty tables. She was very friendly fly though. Ambiance is a charming little roadside cafe. Lots of neat salt and pepper shakers in a display case on the wall. Parking was not difficult but certainly more difficult that average. Looked like a popular chocolate place was next door.
